Use of trans identified male as opposed to transwoman.

MNHQ There has been much written recently about how the controlling of the words we use, is very misleading. Many women reject the word transwoman as it can be misunderstood. In light of this, would you reconsider yr guidelines that Trans Identified Male can not be used? It would seem a more factually accurate description of a human male who presents in a stereotypically female way. Thank you.

Earlywalker

I must be trans too. We clearly aren't girly enough to pass the "woman" test that they have on here.

Never heard such absolute tripe in all of my life. I'm quite intrigued to know how I've carried and birthed 2 children and breast fed for 3 and a half years given the fact that I am a man though. I'm thinking that I could make a lot of money out of this.

majestic the talk rules are at the top of the page in Feminist Chat.
MTF & FTM are I think banned.

I find myself wondering why would anyone want to prevent women discussing how language is important in order to recognise & combat male violence against women & children.

That the attempted prevention of discussion is on the Feminism & Women's Rights board of a perenting website is telling.

Im still wondering because some posters really are committed to this. Hmm

www.mumsnet.com/info/trans-rights-moderation-policy

Pinned at the top of FWR.

MajesticWhine · 15/06/2019 15:55

Thanks happy - I can't see them right now maybe because I'm on the app.

DecomposingComposers · 15/06/2019 15:55

I suggest you examine the research of Dr Ray Blanchard, Prof Michael Bailey and Dr Anne Lawrence .. all available via the Internet.

That's not how referencing works in academic papers though is it? If you quote from a source in a paper then you should reference that giving the exact source of the information.

You don't just wave a hand dismissively and tell people to look things up themselves. Are we meant to travel through every piece ever written and every study ever conducted by these people to try to find the source of the 75%?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 15/06/2019 15:56

We clearly aren't girly enough to pass the "woman" test that they have on here.

Thats just silly

No one knows who anyone is on here...and its all very well saying birthed two children, no one knows if I’m lying about my three

Personally i take people at face value on here...doesn’t mean i trust them

happydappy2 · 15/06/2019 15:56

earlywalker & decomposed have you read the article linked earlier in the thread about pronouns & rohypnol? It really is worth a read if you have time.

Anyway...

Back to the OP, since OP herself may well wish to have her topic respected.

Let's have a vote.

Restriction of terms on FWR to be removed and usual forum rules about civility and goadiness to be deemed sufficient.

Yay?

Nay?

JackyHolyoake · 15/06/2019 15:56

Said no woman ever to another woman!

LangCleg · 15/06/2019 15:57

Yay.

LangCleg · 15/06/2019 15:58

Early? Decompose? Bespin? Sue?

Yay or nay?

MajesticWhine · 15/06/2019 15:58

Thanks Langcleg

happydappy2 · 15/06/2019 15:58

I think 99.9% of posters have indicated yay.

DecomposingComposers · 15/06/2019 15:59

Well I'm saying it.

And quite how you can assert what every woman has ever said is beyond me. Guess that's stereotypes again though.

JackyHolyoake · 15/06/2019 15:59

Yay.

Earlywalker · 15/06/2019 16:00

I don’t care what words are banned, I’m not that invested.

Yes I read the article and posted on it.

Jacky are you deliberately trying to make yourself look unhinged?

JackyHolyoake · 15/06/2019 16:01

Guess that's stereotypes again though.

It's decades of interacting with women and men.

R0wantrees · 15/06/2019 16:01

Do you have the link to the first half of Julia's presentation please?

Jacky No, I dont think so sorry.

PencilsinSpace transcribed it. It may be linked on the thread which followed Dr Julia Long and a small group of lesbians & other women being forcibly removed from the Accenture LGBT+ inclusion event by a large number of male police officers & security guards.

Pencils first posted it on the AIBU thread about it which was successfully derailed & then gamed to oblivion by a couple of bad faith posters.

I recall they demonstrated patterned behaviours & indicated their intention to get the thread pulled.

The FWR thread survived (link to Dr Long's speech may be towards the end)

DecomposingComposers · 15/06/2019 16:02

Yes I guess in principle but why were the rules brought in to begin with? Was it to try and maintain a semblance of respectful debate? Is it likely to just lead to insults being flung around?

LangCleg · 15/06/2019 16:02

I don’t care what words are banned

So that's a nay then? For clarity?

terryleather · 15/06/2019 16:03

That's a yay from me too.

JackyHolyoake · 15/06/2019 16:03

RO Thank you, darling! Flowers
