When Jean announced an upcoming ride for women, a TRA asked for info, wanting to join with “the ladies” to support “the ladies.” Jean advised that the ride was for women only. The TRA then sent Jean, who has ovarian cancer, a photo of an ovarian scan.

Kitty Holland of the Irish Times then appeared on Jean’s twitter feed to ask why Jean was “having a go” at transwomen.

Despite Jean’s careful explanation that this was a ride specifically to celebrate women in the UK murdered by husbands or boyfriends, and that no transwomen appeared in that grouping, Kitty Holland has continued to tweet about the “transphobia.” She even accused Debbie Hayton of transphobia after Debbie backed Jean.

A TRA posted on twitter a reward for anyone who’d knock Jean off her bike.

For anyone who has a bike but isn’t in London, Jean is now helping others to organize rides in other cities.

Benefits go to Karen Ingalla-Smith’s organisation, nia.

Why don’t TW organise their own ride? They can have images of all the TW murdered in the uk last year. I’m sure lots of allies would support them.

I like the suggestion of making tea and sandwiches.
It's a very important role.

maslinpan · 11/06/2019 09:45

And making tea and sandwiches us a very womanly role too - even better.

7Days · 11/06/2019 09:50

Exactly.
Win win

Outanabout · 11/06/2019 09:53

Re a remark earlier in the thread about a spat between Posie and Jean, AFAICR that didn't come out of the blue, and Posie was the one being piled on by various people, for having shared a platform with right wing organisations. An unfair pile-on, women have no allies we can trust, and will be criticised no matter who we take support from, or what we do.

If you click on the words you see the pictures....

If TRAs want to do something similar for murdered trans people, why don’t they? Why try to hijack Jean’s plans? Ah, because then that would be letting women have something just for themselves, and that can’t be allowed.

Indeed. Apart from the inconvenient little statistic that Transwomen are more likely to be the aggressors than the victims. And we wouldn't want any facts making their way into the argument would we?

ZebrasAreBras · 11/06/2019 10:07

This is this transwoman from Ireland who made the threat/incitement of violence against Jean Hatchet.

This is the exact reason that Jean doesn't want people like that joining her event. This is the exact reason women don't don't want people like that in women's spaces.

The event is women only because it is for women who have been murdered by men. Women who are taking part may have been vistims of male violence, sexual abuse or DV - and do not want any male people there.

Threats of violence from transwomen simply make Jean's point for her.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 11/06/2019 10:22

Not sure if this is related to what Kitty is saying about Jean but I'd have a guess that it is

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 11/06/2019 10:22

Sorry here's the screen shot

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 11/06/2019 10:23

And another one

callmekalinda · 11/06/2019 10:23

They want to appropriate the 2 women a week statistic for themselves. It is ghoulish. Narcissism revels in victimhood.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 11/06/2019 10:25

"Some women are far better feminists than some women especially than terfs"
Is Kitty trolling?

Mumfun · 11/06/2019 10:26

It is so telling that women dont care if transwomen want to run their own events. Or have conferences for example on transwoman health. Women never try to muscle in or cry discrimination of any kind.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 10:43

Kitty Holland just used a misogynistic slur to state why men can be better feminists. Is she actually being serious? She shouldn’t get away with talking like that.

Beebeequeue · 11/06/2019 11:19

How can I find out more information about Jeans bike ride? I’ve just liked Jeans Facebook page but it doesn’t seem active. Is there a separate charity one please? I’m in Leeds and would love to get involved to help organise and participate. Thanks

littlbrowndog · 11/06/2019 11:22

Kitty Holland calling women terfs
And centring men as being better feminists

What a total idiot she is

Brain left body to sit on sidelines there it seems

AncientLights · 11/06/2019 11:27

If we were being kind (that old female problem) we could think Kitty is merely naive and uneducated. However, I'm not inclined to be kind any longer.

So we have a situation where a group of people are threatening another group of people who won't let them in, although the first group belong to a sector of society which has high violence levels against the second group. If a bunch of Purple People had threatened me and my family, and then they banged on my door to be allowed into my house, would I be a 'bigot' for not letting the Purple People in? In my world, that's common sense, not to mention self-preservation.

Ereshkigal · 11/06/2019 11:34

"Some women are far better feminists than some women especially than terfs"
Is Kitty trolling?

Yes, and playing to the gallery for pathetic woke points.

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2019 11:36

I would have thought that the obvious thing for the trans community to do is organise their own tribute to murdered transpeople while offering to be “allies” to Jean’s Ride.I’d certainly be happy to support anyone local to me doing that

littlbrowndog · 11/06/2019 11:40

Kitty Holland doesn’t even mention the murdered women that jean is riding for.

The murdered women

What is wrong with her the trans people are more important than murdered women

lazymare · 11/06/2019 11:41

Kitty had made a fool of herself and doesn't seem to want to stop.

Annasgirl · 11/06/2019 11:47

Kitty always plays to the woke gallery. She is one of the reasons I don't buy the IT anymore - and the woman who writes the Saturday column who spoke about TERFs.

I am saddened but not surprised. As I said before, these are the Repeal women who then abandoned women to move on to trans.

Annasgirl · 11/06/2019 11:49

Kitty is a very well educated woman from a very well established liberal family. Her mum was a journalist for the IT (Mary Holland) and her dad is the northern Irish activist and journalist Eamonn McCann.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 11:50

Kitty Holland doesn’t even mention the murdered women that jean is riding for.

That’s the really horrible bit. Kitty cares more about the men demanding to join a ride that doesn’t include them, than the actual murdered women. What a terrible person.
