James Makings - linked in: uk.linkedin.com/in/jamakings

James Makings personal blog (link from the linked in bio): jamakings.wordpress.com/

Screen shot from James Makings blog - text reads ‘The picture above isn’t just a picture of a group of guys at a fetish event. The group above shows my family. Now I know it might be a bit weird to perceive a bunch of perverts I met at various fetish events as family, but it’s what they’ve become‘

(Post goes on to talk about bereavement due to loss of a friend)

Wait. This guy works for the NSPCC??

And is he responsible for their alleged relationship with Monroe?

DuMondeB · 11/06/2019 21:56

Yes Datun, it’s on his linked in page

(screen shot - text reads: Celebrity & Talent Officer
November 2018 – Present 8 months
London, United Kingdom
During my time in the celebrity team, I have had some great wins in a short amount of time. I have proven I can effectively identify talent that; resonates with our wider audience, is press worthy, and can fit the brief provided, whether it is for an event, a social media campaign or a large scale fundraising product. I have also recruited and stewarded new and interesting talent that has diversified the NSPCC’s stable of ambassadors. My proudest achievement in the role thus far is the creation of a ‘How To Be A Trans Ally’ video for Childline with Munroe Bergdorf due to launch in June. The social impact of a video like this can be huge, and will also create great PR and social sharing opportunities.’)

He was right, the social impact was indeed, huge.

kids playing dress up isn't drag

Seems so

This is why you read a lot about hardcore Trump supporters railing against the ‘mainstream media’. You seriously can’t trust it.

Of course the right wing has many of its own propaganda arms like Fox News and Breibart. I now try to read a variety of news and when something seems amiss check if there is source attached as most just regurgitate another outlet.

It’s why I read the Daily Mail and Guardian online and have a healthy scepticism towards both

Outofinspiration · 11/06/2019 22:07

She said she saw nothing wrong with letting trans children message her “as a friend to turn to”

Well in that case Munroe shouldn't be anywhere near the NSPCC. And neither should anyone else who thinks there is 'nothing wrong' with that.

I remember someone posting about Munroe doing this months ago - I actually called them out on it as I didn't believe it, but they then posted the screenshots and I was like Shock

argued that drag was a “cultural phenomenon” that had no age limit. “There is absolutely nothing wrong with kids playing dress-up if that’s what they want to do,” she said."

Yes, but we are not talking about kids playing fucking dress up are they? We are talking about an 11 year boy dancing for money in an adults only nightclub which the clientele describe as a place 'to party and to fuck' in the middle of the night.

Christ alive!!!

JackyHolyoake · 11/06/2019 22:10

The question I would ask is this:

If the James Makings who is President of Rubbermen London is the same person as the James Makings who is the Celebrity & Talent Officer at the NSPCC charity, why did he choose to apply for a position at the NSPCC?

Caucho · 11/06/2019 22:11

All of these charity workers are probably just parroting their preferred news outlets or being influenced by their Facebook and Twitter friends which tend to be a bit of an echo chamber. They’re not all lefty and actually consider myself left to a large extent but hate identity politics and the NGOs and charities do tend to be biased to a certain type of folk as do investment banks in the opposite manner

SunsetBeetch · 11/06/2019 22:11

I can't believe Owen Jones let that go to print. Either he's a secret agent, or HE doesn't understand or care about safeguarding of children either.

As for James from the NSPCC...I'm practically speechless Shock

SunsetBeetch · 11/06/2019 22:13

If it turns out to be the same James, of course. If it does...that's really bad.

Just click the text I have circled on the screenshot. It’s the second most recent post. I didn’t look any further back.

I can’t believe what I’m reading here - except of course it’s all referenced with screen shots which would indicate it’s true Sad

Outofinspiration · 11/06/2019 22:22

Just read that blog post of James Makings. It's actually quite sweet really, but then just seems so odd against the backdrop of a rubber fetish! Like, do we need to know about the rubber fetish bit?

R0wantrees · 11/06/2019 22:23

There are some interesting reviews by former employees of NSPCC.
Worth noticing comments by experienced Social Workers.

This is erm very disturbing

Wtaf is going on with the nspcc.
What has happened to a charity that is meant to be supporting children and suddenly this all comes out

Hard to believe what I am reading

LangCleg · 11/06/2019 22:38

Is it wrong to feel entirely defeated?

Outofinspiration · 11/06/2019 22:39

What the actual??? Did NSPCC drop Munroe because there are staff that could be exposed?

I don't think it's quite this much of a conspiracy. As far as I can see, what Rubber Man is up to is entirely between consenting adults. However, there does seem to be an astonishing lack of safeguarding awareness if 150 staff have signed a letter berating their own employer (a children's charity) for dropping Bergdorf.

Saying that, having seen what is coming out about all these big charities in terms of sex abuse scandals, I really wouldnt be surprised at anything any more.

DuMondeB · 11/06/2019 22:40

I dunno if it’s actually sinister (James seems quite nice) or just a total clusterfuck caused by disorganised management and spectacularly shit vetting?

Either way, it’s bad for vulnerable kids.

And Owen Jones is just drawing attention to stuff that does Bergdorf no good at all.

ZebrasAreBras · 11/06/2019 22:40

Omfg. It's far, far worse than I even thought.
These reviews:

The NSPCC is essentially the Kim Kardashian of the charity world - it only cares the media representation and covers up the reality of a questionable service that has no professional body to hold it accountable.

Bullying is rife as is discriminatory practice.

The fundraising team work hard to raise money for the charity and the NSPCC is great at finding ways to waste it.

And:

They embarked on therapeutic cleansing throughout the organisation, demonstrating little regard for standards of ethical and safe interventions for children and instead offer short term, pilot programmes that have no evidence base (although they try and gather one) and a lack of clinical guidance and input.

This is scandalous - and they're not accountable?
