LGBT group makes a post justifying violence against a woman

Lots of people point out the misogyny in justifying violence against women.

An academic chips in suggesting the LGBT+ group start using Terf Blocker to make their twittersphere a ''happier and safer space''.

I'm trying to digest this. I'm trying to imagine the sort of person who would view a comment justifying violence against women, read the sensible and relatively calm objections to the justification of violence against women, and then decide ultimately that the real problem which needs immediate action is protecting the hurty feefees of the person who posted the original tweet.

Irony meter goes off the scale for that tweet -
''women have no right to single sex spaces because they exclude trans people & we need to use Terf Blocker so we can't hear them.''

I note that Cathy Brennan got their break via the BFI's LFF Critics Mentorship Programme. A programme that states that it acknowledges "the imbalances in representation in the film industry". Like too many white blokes. So good they're doing something to address that.

That's the wanker who used to have a caricature cartoon pisstake image of Cathy Brennan as profile pic. The violent male TRA who detests women, is using this pic and Cathy's name as harrassment. It's insult enough that a male who resents and constantly incites hatred and violence against women uses a name almost always associated with girls and women- but to take the full name of one specific lesbian feminist is Goodbye Horses mentality.

This is crazy, just because he calls himself Cathy, we have to believe he's a woman, the dudes even got a beard!

I meant to add that I'm another woman who refuses to refer to that individual by that individual's Twitter name, out of respect for Cathy, (and every other woman really).

I especially liked his tweet ordering Julie to post her video. No mate. This is the bit where you beg her not to drag you by the scruff of your horrible neck through the courts. Not the bit where you dish out orders. That bit’s finished.

It contains a piece writing by trans woman Cathy Brennan, justifying their tweets last year that advocated violence against women holding different views to their own.

The tweet they are defending in this article stated

"Any trans allies at #PrideLondon right now need to step the fuckup and take out the terf trash. Get in their faces.Make them afraid. Debate never works so fuck them up"

In the article they state

"In 2018, transphobic group Get the L Out hijacked the front of the march at London Pride. Organisers and police (who were also part of the march) did nothing. I received much criticism for demanding violent action against these TERFs. By 'criticism' I mean that I was stalked for several months on Twitter by someone purportedly from Edinburgh. The goal of Get the L Out was to make trans people unwelcome at an event where they should have felt safe. In my opinion their actions already constitute a form of violence with long-lasting implications."

I'm embarrassed to say that I once argued for them. I argued there are many forms of women and repeated the phrase which I now detest 'trans women are women' over and over in a hypnotised kind of way.

I finally woke up and wondered what on Earth I was thinking.

Can anyone locate a cached version of the original The Skinny article? I’ve saved a pdf and made screen shots of the current version but if anyone has an archive account, it would be even better.

Hopefully , this attack on Julie will be prosecuted, so it’s important that none of fake-Cathy-Brennan’s incitements to and excuses for violence against women are wiped from the internet.

I was just reading the twitter link that HerFemaleness posted and was surprised (or perhaps not) to read a tweet that said:-

The entire committee of @EdinburghUni LGBT+ Staff Pride Network has resigned today after being told by the University not to speak out about an anti-trans equality event happening on campus today.

Each one of them a true #transally. #equalrecognition

I wonder if this is a temporary thing and they'll all reapply for their positions tomorrow or if they'll be getting in a new bunch of woke students?
