Seems to have been carried out by well known TRA who has threatened violence before: twitter.com/bindelj/status/1136402563379716096

There was a second female MP who also tweeted support. I forget the name but it was further down in the feed than Diane Abbott.

HelenRivington · 06/06/2019 08:41

Disgusting.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/06/2019 08:47

Crikey

2 MPs supporting the known thought criminal Julie Bindel? Maybe the tide actually is turning

TirisfalPumpkin · 06/06/2019 08:49

Here's Diane Abbott tweeting Julie.

This is what happens when you normalise outright violent rhetoric with 'they're distressed, oppressed and letting off steam'. I hope 'Cathy', if responsible, gets the book thrown at him. (trust this pronoun use is in line with guidelines as he's now famous in connection with an assault)

Diane knows a fair bit about getting shit from ignorant arseholes. Good to see her showing some solidarity

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 06/06/2019 08:53

Why is it ok to appropriate some else's name who stands for the total opposite of what you are advocating?

If a white suprematist took the name of Martin Luther King, surely there would (rightly) be widespread cultural condemnation and refusal to play along with it.

And yet it seems it is ok for male who publicly incites violence against women (espec lesbians) and is actively fighting to dismantle the women's rights, to appropriate the name (and sully, by association the reputation) of the name of a famous lesbian feminist?

And we all have to play along???

I never consented to any of this and I actively withdraw any consent for this ludicrous pretence that humans can change sex.

I am hugely sympathetic for any individual who has body dysphoria whether it relates to their sex, size or other aspect but this cultural 'fix' is increasingly being used as a Trojan horse for something entirely different.

EvacuateTheCardinals · 06/06/2019 09:05

Julie Bindle is a truly inspirational woman, not like the vile piece of misogynistic scum who attacked her. I really hope she presses charges.

EverardDigby · 06/06/2019 09:05

There are some very disturbed people about yet this doesn't seem to be recognised by some and they are feted and prioritised in relation to policy making, it's madness.

LassOfFyvie · 06/06/2019 09:06

I was physically attacked as I left the event at the airport

I'm a bit confused by her tweet. I saw someone shouting at Rosa Freedman and Julie Bindel at 7pm in George Square. Did something happen at the airport too?

Missingstreetlife · 06/06/2019 09:12

This is becoming v worrying. Should there be some security for women speakers? We should be on the streets protesting. I hope reported to police and taken seriously. Need a strategy to keep safe.

Joisanofthedales · 06/06/2019 09:13

sarahconnor your gran sounds awesome

Flowers for Julie

JessicaWakefieldSV · 06/06/2019 09:19

And we all have to play along???

So, this person we can’t correctly name, takes the name of a GC lesbian just to antagonise, attacks another GC lesbian, and we all have to avoid referring to this person using the correct pronouns in case @MNHQ* ban us.

Just amazing to me. Amazing.

littlbrowndog · 06/06/2019 09:21

He re tweeted a picture of the panel at the event. Called them scum

CharlieParley · 06/06/2019 09:22

LassofFyvie according to TattleTale's own words, the intention seems to have been to stop Julie filming, possibly to go for her phone. What we were told is that security pulled that violent thug off her, which implies actual physical contact of some sort between the two. Whether the raging you saw happened before or after that, I don't know. Given that this person has repeatedly incited violence against women and seems to seethe with hatred against any of us who say no to this ideology, I wouldn't be surprised if the phone was just a pretext.

mononokeswolf · 06/06/2019 09:26

Pmk

CharlieParley · 06/06/2019 09:32

Aargh, the Twitter handle of that violent thug is towntattle not as I've written above TattleTale. (Not going to use the name of a lesbian women's rights campaigner for such an entitled and aggressive male.)

RoyalCorgi · 06/06/2019 09:35

Literal violence is getting someone's pronouns wrong. Hitting a woman isn't literal violence, apparently, it's just being a bit emotional and making your feelings known.

Glad we've cleared that up.

One good thing was seeing plenty of support for Julie on Twitter from a few fairly high-profile people. (Not little OJ, obviously. That would be too much to hope for.)

JustAnotherWoman · 06/06/2019 09:40

Brennan is an old fashioned woman hater dressed up in the new colours of the trans flag as armour.

I also have sympathy for those with genuine dysphoria but this current wave of 'women' are clearly anything but. It doesn't matter whether their appearance has been changed into a crude parody of a woman that they think is 'beautiful' or 'sexy' (AGP) or those women haters that know saying they are trans gives them a stick to beat women with they are not women's and never will be.

I'm ashamed I fell for their 'poor us' propaganda in the past. We need to keep shining a light, it's continual visibility of how this movement damages women that will open the eyes of other women.

Pertinent question from AGenderCriticalDad on Julie's twitter.

Hope this person is held to account.

TheInebriati · 06/06/2019 09:52

I dont think that Bobby Gillespie is the same person who has been harassing Cathy Brennan and Julie Bindel.

Cathy Brennan is a lesbian who lives in America.
Can we agree that if someone had a restraining order against a person who was harassing them, we wouldn't assist the harasser?
In which case can we not call this person by the womans name they have taken?

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 06/06/2019 10:03

Lass: "I'm a bit confused by her tweet. I saw someone shouting at Rosa Freedman and Julie Bindel at 7pm in George Square. Did something happen at the airport too?"

I think JB may have misstyped her tweet.

frazzled1 · 06/06/2019 10:04

Apologies if I implied it was the same, took it at face value.
