Jeremy Corbyn's ridiculous speech

isabellerossignol · 04/06/2019 13:42

Just heard Jeremy Corbyn make a rousing speech where amongst other things he talks about how we must defeat misogyny.

He could perhaps start tackling that within his own party before he starts taking on the world Hmm

Yup!

Justhadathought · 04/06/2019 13:50

You have to understand what misogyny really looks like, and note the many forms that it can take first. And really the whole Trans Women are Women business is the most misogynistic, disrespectful pile of crap ever.

Just reflecting yesterday, on how many well known gay men are now leading the charge on women's rights and spaces - by acting as cheerleaders for the TRAW mantra. Now that gay civil rights have been won - the lack of awareness of women's issues is quite astounding to witness. Thankfully, it is not all gay men, of course. But still!

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/06/2019 14:03

Yep just heard the end of it.

I have nothing polite to say about him.

iamhereiamhappy · 04/06/2019 14:06

At least he makes speeches on tackling misogyny. What about that Tory dinosaur that voted against banned up skirting? Did TM acknowledge it? People just choose to despise JC and pick at everything he does. Met the guy- He's the most real and down to earth out of all of them.

iamhereiamhappy · 04/06/2019 14:06

*banning

OrchidInTheSun · 04/06/2019 14:09

I don't care how down to earth he is. He is a misogynist and an anti Semite

Theghosttrain · 04/06/2019 14:13

People just choose to despise JC and pick at everything he does

Maybe people choose to do that because they dislike him, his policies and the direction he is taking the party.

isabellerossignol · 04/06/2019 14:20

At least he makes speeches on tackling misogyny.

But they're empty words. He makes speeches about tackling it and yet also encourages misogyny within his party.

I have no time for that Tory who tried to block the upskirting law either. But at least he wasn't simultaneously making speeches saying 'we must tackle upskirting'.

OP posts:
deydododatdodontdeydo · 04/06/2019 14:22

The Tory who blocked upskirting, I think he had a valid reason for it. He tries to block all bills which are snuck through without being debated.
He objects so that they have to be debated.
He didn't pick out this one bill, he does it often.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/06/2019 14:25

Well he could start by addressing Labour's all Women short lists

Jeremy Corbyn's ridiculous speech
ThePankhurstConnection · 04/06/2019 14:27

Yeah. Deeds not words Jeremy.

Morag96 · 04/06/2019 14:30

Disagree with the Tory bloke who won't let members' bills get passed. He out talks them in a debate so the debate is happening. I think it's concerns that many MPs can't be bothered to turn up and debate and vote so the party in power tries to block stuff they might not have a majority there for which is very undemocratic.
Turn up and debate and vote on an issue or butt out.
re Corbyn I'm judging his misogyny on his actions, ditto Stonewall and all the pride marches and all the people who don't know what a woman is.

DuckWillow · 04/06/2019 14:31

Not got a lot of time for JC but at least he isn’t inviting that cockwomble Trump to the UK and courting him. In fact he has openly said he doesn’t like him and didn’t attend the dinner last night. Meanwhile our Govt are costing up to him...a racist, woman hating lunatic who should be nowhere near a position of power.

Trust me...if all you have to moan about is JC’s speech then you are blinkered and you’ve been hoodwinked by the right wing propaganda.

tobee · 04/06/2019 14:37

Doubt it

isabellerossignol · 04/06/2019 14:39

I'm not even a little bit right wing so I promise I haven't been hoodwinked.

I just think there is a special kind of hypocrisy in making a speech denouncing something whilst simultaneously encouraging it with your own actions.

OP posts:
isabellerossignol · 04/06/2019 14:43

Much like I think there is a huge amount of hypocrisy in Trump or Farage denouncing immigration yet being married to immigrants.

Or Ian Duncan Smyth pretending to be an ordinary man of the people who has become wealthy through hard work alone when be conveniently forgets to mention that he married into money.

OP posts:
Gone2far · 04/06/2019 15:19

Well,at least we know who JC won't meet. IRA? Hamas? The Chinese premier? Of course. The leader of the free world? No. What a twat.

DuckWillow · 04/06/2019 15:37

And Trump insisting that the NHS is up for discussion on any trade deal. Fuck off Trump and take your disgusting attitudes with you.

AND

Newsflash for the folk here saying they are not right wing ... you ARE still influenced by what you read. I generally can’t stand JC but I recognise propaganda when I see it.

And he hasn’t a prayer of succeeding..not because if his views (a lot of which I disagree) but because the right wing media has told people what to think.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/06/2019 15:39

I think we know which females he is defending here from the ‘nasty people’.

isabellerossignol · 04/06/2019 15:44

I'm not claiming that I'm never influenced by what I read. Everyone is influenced all the time by everything all around us.

The point I was making was that it's not right wing propaganda to think he speaks out against misogyny but doesn't address it with his actions. The Labour party is a mess with it's 'all women' short lists etc He's the leader therefore he is ultimately responsible. Unless for example the notorious women's officer who is so prevalent on Twitter is only pretending to be women's officer and isn't really.

BelleHathor · 04/06/2019 15:51

The only small mercy is that Corbyn seems to be surrounded by incompetent advisers so his chances of being elected are low, doubly so if he comes out for a second referendum looking at the EU election results Labour would lose most of the North and Wales. As an old school lefty that hurts me but the actual protection of the female sex is far more important and Identity politics can go die in a fire.

FloralBunting · 04/06/2019 16:11

Oh yeah, pointing out that Corbyn can mention misogyny but it means fuck all unless he does something is completely my non-existent rightwing influences coming out.

FFS.

andyoldlabour · 04/06/2019 16:18

DuckWillow

Brilliant post, Trump is possibly the most ignorant, racist, xenphobic, mysoginistic World leader. He constantly lies, he is untrustworthy and he is a loose cannon who could well start a major war at any time.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/06/2019 16:27

And he hasn’t a prayer of succeeding..not because if his views (a lot of which I disagree) but because the right wing media has told people what to think. But... wait... 'They' said that about Trump.

... and Bojo

...and Corbyn

.. and the Goviot (but Ithink they were absolutely right on that one!
