A pleasant surprise

NC for this as very outing.

I came across a number of Tweets from a user whose profile described him as a serving officer with the Met. This is the complaint I sent yesterday:

Jon Killen, a emergency response officer in the MPS and LGBT+ officer, is issuing Tweets that I consider misogynist. His Twitter account (@LDNResponseCop) clearly identifies him professionally, so he cannot argue that he's only offering personal opinions. I cannot think his social media presence is doing anything good for the Met. It seems highly unprofessional. Certainly I would have less confidence were I involved in an incident and had to deal with Jon Killen than I would in a generic officer. Please look at what he's saying - and the response from many LGBT Twitter users who find his Tweets offensive. The police must be seen to be impartial.

I got a call from an inspector this morning. He'd gone through the officer's Tweets and agreed with me. He said it wasn't a disciplinary matter as there were no personally offensive Tweets but that the Tweets definitely overstepped the bounds of what a serving police officer should be saying on social media. A conversation was in order and he would be talking to the officer soon.

Only a small step, but I was pleased the Met seems to have taken it seriously.

FloralBunting · 04/06/2019 22:42

Rufus, tbh, I did actually think you were Samuel L Jackson at one point.

Binglebong · 04/06/2019 22:43

It was RUDE bingle Shock

This thread is comedy gold.

One highlight for me was the assumption they may have been the only person here with a degree.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/06/2019 23:02

Yes, loved the I've literally got parts of a degree.

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 23:04

Reading this thread back, the first clue that zoe is a TRA and also a transwoman is this response:

JessicaWakefieldSV Tue 04-Jun-19 12:37:30
There’s a massive difference to having an androgynous look though. How silly to say we all can’t properly identify a man or woman by looking at them. We can. We do. Every day. Throughout history. It’s not hard.

Zoecb Tue 04-Jun-19 12:38:33
“It’s not hard”... and yet :-p

And then there's this:
In all honesty trying to justify my womanhood to you comes under the banner of “taking homework assignments from strangers”

Women generally don't feel the need to "justify their womanhood" - they just are women - and with all the biological shit that goes with it, including menstruation, medical issues with menstruation, unwanted pregnancy, cervical smears, higher risk of rape & harassment, infertility, childbirth, breastfeeding, workplace discrimination because you are a woman of child-bearing age, or have had children, and all the crap included with being born female.

Along with not being able to define "woman" - well, it;s just obvious really.

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 23:05

And can I just say, that I would not like to see any trans person discriminated against due to their trans status, or abused. But trans rights are trans rights - they are not women's rights.

Women have the right to discuss this, to meet and discuss a change in the law which will obliterate their right to women-only spaces, services and rights, and to define what it means to be a woman. Which means to be born female. Men cannot become women.

FloralBunting · 04/06/2019 23:07

I know words gooder because part of the degree I did was on language.

Oh, and I can't work out what the antonyms for 'crazy' and 'mystic' are.

And you can't object to Queer unless I say so.

Honestly, it's been quite fun to dip into the netherworld of AWA mind twisty crap on and off today.Grin

littlbrowndog · 04/06/2019 23:08

Yeah but Zoe never gotthe fact that none here are aginst transgender people.

We are protecting the rights of women and girls.

That’s it

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/06/2019 23:25

Very true littlbrowndog
But sadly these days being pro Women is assumed as being anti trans. Although there may have been a sea change on this thread, many posters have stated that Trans women are male and have not been deleted. It'll be interesting to see if this comment is deleted. I'm not one of the well known regulars here. So watch and wait.

This was great, I'm gutted I missed it. Reminds me of the threads that converted me from the "be nice and pretend" side to the GC side. Every now and then I start to doubt myself, to wonder if there really is something to it all that I just don't get, so when a poster who claims to understand it all pops up I get excited and hopeful. But no, it's still just be kind, "woman" is beyond description, my nice trans friend, trans = dysphoria, offensive appropriation of black and intersex women, you're all obsessed with genitals, stop reducing women to their biology you uterus having menstruators etc etc. Layered heavily with stereotypes, internalised misogyny, and straight up lies about crime stats and UK law. Vacuous sexist meaningless twattery. Thanks for strengthening my belief that the GC argument is the only one that holds water. And for a couple of proper fucking belly laughs.

terfsandwich · 05/06/2019 02:50

Wow. I loved the earnest fantasy experiment of "imagine you wake up as a man". You are still a man, even if you have a ladybrain.
This is my thought experiment: imagine a group of men told you that they had decided that the definition of woman was no longer adult human female. You must now accept that woman meant women plus a group of men telling you how to think and see yourselves. What if they told you that they were allowed to go into any women only space. What if they told you that you were not allowed to call women's issues "women's issues" any more because it excluded this group of men. What if they told you that women who recognise colonisation and appropriation when they see it are to be excluded, sacked, threatened and excommunicated.
Whose side would you take? Would you agree with these men, or would you insist you had the right to talk about yourselves in a way that didn't include offensive sexist stereotypes?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 05/06/2019 06:23

I just find the threadbareness of the ideology so depressing. how has it gained so much traction when it's such blatant bollocks?

Sad
SophoclesTheFox · 05/06/2019 07:36

I think Zoe might have slammed her laptop shut so hard when she flounced, she broke it. Shame. Still waiting for those stats on feminists assaulting trans people, Zo - ready whenever you are.

I am always thoroughly intrigued by how quickly transactivists go for the Godwin when they flail helplessly out of their depth in here. There’s a whole piece in there about how thoroughly the left has now sold women down the river, that proper, woman centred feminism is perceived as coming from the right, but I haven’t had my second coffee yet, so I’m not ready to get really into it Grin

Mostly I am content to just sit back and let the trans activists do the heavy lifting of exposing the world to the anger that sits just under the surface of every demand for compliance from women. I’m not sure I should enjoy being called a Nazi quite this much Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 05/06/2019 08:15

No! They deleted the seary post?? Why??? Oh yes, the first word was the one that would have done it.

Fucking hell, MNHQ! You could have let it stand... it was funny - funny I tells ya!

HumberElla · 05/06/2019 08:41

First time I’ve been labelled as one of a pack. I imagine myself Jack of Spades.

OP if you’re still here I’d be interested to know if you heard re Jon.

SophoclesTheFox · 05/06/2019 08:47

I’m curious if anyone actually reported the sweary outburst? I sure as hell didn’t, couldn’t find the report button through my tears of laughter Grin

SpartacusAutisticusAHF · 05/06/2019 08:53

This reply has been deleted

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 05/06/2019 08:53

I suspect Our Zoe did, to prove her point that she would be banned. But then wouldn't it have had "at the posters request"?

Come on, fess up... who reported the most amusing troll we've had for a while?

S1naidSucks · 05/06/2019 09:00

That’s so unfair. Went off to walk the dogs and missed the TRA/MRA tantrum.

When I’m asked in future, “where were you when the famous meltdown happened?” Walking the dogs doesn’t sound very exciting. So unfair. stomps off in a Zoe huff, throwing insults at other lucky posters

LangCleg · 05/06/2019 09:14

Innocent!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 05/06/2019 09:15

... only until I prove you guilty Grin

Trousering · 05/06/2019 09:16

That was a fun read, sadly I missed the deletions.

The two things that stand out to me are the supercilious tone, always that from visiting lecturers, and the blatant ageism, cos that's socially acceptable with the morally superior is it?

HumberElla · 05/06/2019 09:21

Wasn’t me! I was having too much fun.
