Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A pleasant surprise

NC for this as very outing.

I came across a number of Tweets from a user whose profile described him as a serving officer with the Met. This is the complaint I sent yesterday:

Jon Killen, a emergency response officer in the MPS and LGBT+ officer, is issuing Tweets that I consider misogynist. His Twitter account (@LDNResponseCop) clearly identifies him professionally, so he cannot argue that he's only offering personal opinions. I cannot think his social media presence is doing anything good for the Met. It seems highly unprofessional. Certainly I would have less confidence were I involved in an incident and had to deal with Jon Killen than I would in a generic officer. Please look at what he's saying - and the response from many LGBT Twitter users who find his Tweets offensive. The police must be seen to be impartial.

I got a call from an inspector this morning. He'd gone through the officer's Tweets and agreed with me. He said it wasn't a disciplinary matter as there were no personally offensive Tweets but that the Tweets definitely overstepped the bounds of what a serving police officer should be saying on social media. A conversation was in order and he would be talking to the officer soon.

Only a small step, but I was pleased the Met seems to have taken it seriously.

Oh I know, they post it themselves and then screenshot it (on at least 2 occasions I can think of).

I would expect something from the LibDems about how Mumsnet is a hate site real soon though.

GassyAss · 04/06/2019 20:11

6 times our dear friend Zoe was asked to prove these allegations that feminists are literally physically attacking transwomen. 6 times she’s ignores the requests. I can only deduce that the claims are complete lies. Zoe, can you price me wrong?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 04/06/2019 20:13

gassy

Errr
£12.50

Justhadathought · 04/06/2019 20:13

I'm always astounded that those preaching 'Inter-sectional feminism' think they are the first to ever have realised that people are oppressed in various different ways, on account of their social class, race, religion etc. That realisation is nothing new. and wasn't even new in the 1980's either.

Treefloof · 04/06/2019 20:15

Btw I’m not a transwoman so I dunno why you’re talking to me like I am
Uhh, your reading that into it, I am assuming you are in fact a cunty female. I don't see the rest of us assuming otherwise

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 04/06/2019 20:16

I wondered tree

I thought maybe I’d missed something

How does one talk to a transwomen....i though you’d talk to them the same way you’d talk to anyone else

Treefloof · 04/06/2019 20:16

Surely it’s a board for mums or it would be called femalesnet?
Umm so what's 4chan for, 4s or chans? And kiwi farms? Kiwis or farms?

Treefloof · 04/06/2019 20:24

Yeah rufus, same as anyone, but a bit more sweary maybe, just to show we can be one o the lads? I dunno.

GassyAss · 04/06/2019 20:29

Rufus cheap! (Yes I really should read back before posting Grin)

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 04/06/2019 20:30

Thats what ive heard gassy Grin

FloralBunting · 04/06/2019 21:03

I've just been eating copious amounts of celebratory pizza this evening and missed the delightfully amateur sweary post build up. But I'm vicariously enjoying the meltdown through your replies.

I almost feel a mystical connection with your dear women.

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 21:06

Just to comment on zoe's -ahem- outburst up there:

Incredible how TRAs cannot help but show who they are - and it rarely takes v long.

Just a few hours on a chat thread with a number of women who will not bow down to them - and it all explodes out. The abuse, calling women "nazis" (I call Godwin) and sexually explicit language.

So far, so MRA.

birdsdestiny · 04/06/2019 21:08

Femalesnet, but but but weren't we just told that using the word female was wrong and bad. I must admit to being a little confused. I am rolling my eyes a lot though so am feeling very womanly.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 04/06/2019 21:18

Zebra
I mostly lurk here and make the odd comment now and again. Your post is spot on, TRAs try so hard to impose their hardline version of their truth on here and tell women that they are terves. Then when all the amazing women on here take their assertions and critically dissect them every TRA can't cope and as you said their absolute hatred of intelligentWomen explodes out and their posts become more and more incoherent.
As a lurker it's a joy to watch and each and every time I learn more. So thank you all from me.

Binglebong · 04/06/2019 21:29

Umm so what's 4chan for, 4s or chans? And kiwi farms? Kiwis or farms?

Obviously it's for farmers of kiwi fruit. Fancy not knowing that!

Slightly gutted I missed the deleted post. Sounded like it was something oh so original. I have missed enlightenment. Sad

Back to the original subject.... well done OP, sounds like you did a good job. Have you heard anything back?

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 21:31

It was just a stream of abusive and sexually explicit expletives, Binglebong.

Thanks Absolute Smile

Binglebong · 04/06/2019 22:18

Highly original then. Thanks.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 04/06/2019 22:20

It was RUDE bingle

littlbrowndog · 04/06/2019 22:22

Aw gawd I missed the rude

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 04/06/2019 22:23

Which is ironic as you are usually the rude Grin

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 22:30
Grin
littlbrowndog · 04/06/2019 22:30

😉😉

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 22:32

"okey dokey no place for blokies" That's feminism for you. Grin

FloralBunting · 04/06/2019 22:32

It's the mark of distinction between the amateur and the classy professional denizens of FWR. The wannabes hear that you can swear here and they have to build up to a disappointing string of all caps schoolboy toilet graffiti.

The regulars saunter in with the coolness of Samuel L Jackson in shades and a black flat cap, and unleash a sweary insult so precise and witty 1000s of women up and down the country and around the world actually get stitch laughing while reading their phones and laptops while their families and pets try and work out why they are crying with mirth.

ZebrasAreBras · 04/06/2019 22:33

So true, floral, so so true.
