Wagamama and gender neutral toilets

TulipsTulipsTulips · 31/05/2019 20:55

40% of wagamama’s toilets will be gender neutral by September. The last thing I want to do when I go out for a meal is share the facilities with men. We are different and deserve privacy! How have women’s interests become such a low priority?

S’okay paffuto

I admire your honesty and openness

paffuto · 03/06/2019 22:06

Decomposing you're a bad loser Wink No, no better than anyone else, just feel very strongly about this loss of women's rights. Btw, have you tried enzymes from the health shop? Using them at the moment and they have settled my stomach a bit.

ZebrasAreBras · 03/06/2019 22:16

I feel very strongly about the loss of women-only spaces. I realise some women aren't bothered, but I do think companies should think about the women who are bothered before they rush over to trendy gender-neutral for rainbow-points.

paffuto · 03/06/2019 22:26

And why is everyone and his dog after rainbow points? What's going on? Some posters think it's clearly basically just men yet again.

ZebrasAreBras · 03/06/2019 22:32

Yes, it's men's rights. Always. Even the rainbow "LGBTQ+++" is all about the men.

I'm not a bad loser. I am I'll and I am sick to death of my world shrinking into something that is barely recognisable as a life anymore.

And with all due respect, my Crohn's is rampant, I am on 2 different immunosuppressants, I am just recovering from a massive GI bleed, I have inflammatory arthritis everywhere caused by the Crohn's, I am now in heart failure (newly diagnosed) caused by it, I can't tolerate food now and am about to lose my job - I think I am slightly beyond enzymes from the health food shop.

paffuto · 03/06/2019 22:47

I still have a lot to learn Zebras what do you mean LGBTQ is all about the men. DD (27) used to be with that group and left a couple of years ago, saying she was disappointed. She's lesbian, haven't pushed her for info because she's been unwell.

paffuto · 03/06/2019 22:55

Sorry to hear all that Decomposing I sincerely hope you feel better soon Flowers I was just trying to help. As a matter of interest is one of the meds azathioprine? I was on that and it really made me feel worse, caused all kinds of other illnesses

DecomposingComposers · 03/06/2019 23:02

paffuto

Thank you.

No not on azathioprine now, I had to stop it because it affected my liver. On sulfasalazine and methotrexate now but I will be starting a biologic treatment to try to control this.

paffuto · 03/06/2019 23:02

Decomposing I will start a thread tomorrow on health board about Crohns and Colitis if you're up to it, so as not to derail this one with illnesses. Is that ok? We can talk to people with the same health issues.

DecomposingComposers · 03/06/2019 23:03

Sure, I'll look out for it.

paffuto · 03/06/2019 23:07

Goodnight all Flowers

morallybankruptme · 04/06/2019 08:06

I think Wagamama are trying to be 'trendy'. It will back fire because women don't want to share public loos with men. I haven't been there in years. Went once and the food was too salty. Salt does Not compensate for bad food

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/06/2019 08:48

Don’t they also do a vegan egg? Not call me old fashioned but an awful lot of veggies and vegans don’t want to eat ‘baconalike’ or ‘Vealalike’.

It’s all just band standing and social media fodder for them.

Outanabout · 04/06/2019 11:43

DecomposingComposers There are always 'special cases' who are not suited by what suits the larger mass of people. It's dreadful that you have Crohn's, which is a horrible and life-threatening illness (a childhood friend died of it in his early thirties). But surely you're entitled to use the Disabled loo?

Is it not better to find ways to work around problems that affect only a small proportion of the population, rather than expecting everyone else to be in situations they feel uncomfortable with?

I'm not sure it's allowed to refer to conversations in other threads, so I'll just say that it's not reasonable to always plead your own specific circumstances as a justification for removing choice from the bulk of other women.

paffuto · 04/06/2019 12:11

Thank goodness, thought I'd killed this thread last night!Blush Decomposing I have started a thread on Health, under Autoimmune Ilnesses if you fancy a chat sometime?

paffuto · 04/06/2019 12:17

Does anyone know what Zebras meant by LGBTQ being all about the men or point me in the direction to look it up please? All I know is DD left them feeling grieved and disappointed but doesn't want to talk about it. Strange.

paffuto · 04/06/2019 12:20

As for Waggamamas, never really understood the attraction for eating there anyway, didn't really enjoy the food and felt it was overpriced.

paffuto · 04/06/2019 12:27

I was in a department store toilets last week and unbelievably there was a man in a suit in there!! Women were questioning him and he had the audacity to say the men's were full so he'd come in the ladies!! Anyway, we all had a go at him and he left with a red face. Bloody cheek! Amazing how some men think they can do what the hell they like. (been married nearly 30 years so not anti men)

LassOfFyvie · 04/06/2019 13:43

That isn't what Decomposing is doing. She isn't asking for these changes-they happen to suit her. She has been quite clear she isn't making any demands one way or another.

thenightsky · 04/06/2019 14:17

paffuto Good to hear that women were questioning him. When I was in a similar situation, we all looked at the floor and avoided eye contact with each other (bloke in M&S lingerie fitting room queue). Even the staff studiously ignored him.

DecomposingComposers · 04/06/2019 14:29

Outanabout

I am not seeking to remove anything from anyone. I have never, nor will never, ask for single sex multi stall toilets to be removed.

All I said was that I prefer these single use cubicles because they mean that I can have some semblance of a life.

How is that me taking anything away?

And yes, I could use accessable toilets but I do my very best not to use them because I am often in the toilet for over an hour and I don't think that it's right for me to occupy the only toilet that a person in a wheelchair or who needs carers with them can use. Physically, I can go into a standard toilet so in my view it is wrong to use the only toilet that others can use.

Often the accessable toilets have baby changing in them too so in the past I've had people banging on the door because they want to change their baby.

So, no. I'm not wanting to take anything away. If you want to campaign for single sex toilets then go ahead. I'll just have to avoid going to places that have them, as I do currently.

Decomposing they're not campaigning for single sex toilets. We already have them and want to keep them. (nice to see you on the other thread. I've just had a right old moan on there)

paffuto · 04/06/2019 15:17

Sarahjconnor that's another annoying thing isn't it? That all children will have to be accompanied whereas some (not all) were safe enough for them to go on their own.
