A thread to say thank you and to offer support to Transgender Trend

I have recently been reminded yet again why the brilliant work of Transgender Trend is so important. For this reason I want to say thank you so much and also say that I will offer my support in a practical way.

Can I suggest that a look at Transgender Trend's most recent tweets might be a good idea. They can be found on their website if anyone cannot access Twitter.

Oh and just a general reminder that we cannot link to crowdfunders on Mumsnet.

Ah, found a link to the stickers:

schoolsweek-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/schoolsweek.co.uk/schools-warned-over-new-harmful-transgender-trend-stickers/amp/?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQA#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fschoolsweek.co.uk%2Fschools-warned-over-new-harmful-transgender-trend-stickers%2F

I can see what TGT were trying to do with them, and they are simply factual as Stephanie says. It is unfortunate that they were pounced on by Stonewall, who were citing "stats" like "nearly two in three trans pupils (64 per cent) are bullied for being LGBT, while one in ten (nine per cent) have received death threats". I am sceptical about these stats when I recall the ridiculously falsely high stats regarding young trans people and suicide.

Anyway, even if TGT were promoting these to children (which perhaps could make a "transitioning" child feel uncomfortable), I think there is nothing wrong with promoting them to adults. Especially with such slogans as TWAW flying around the place. I am just so grateful that TGT are trying to halt this terrifying transgender steamroller.

I have therefore donated to the mysterious thing we are definitely NOT discussing here Wink.

An organisation makes an error of judgement - and withdraws some stickers and apologises - well done Transgendertrend. That's great ethical practice.
Shame that the trans lobby groups currently gaslighting children and undermining safeguarding guidance don't share the same child centred ethical approach.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 01/06/2019 21:24

And thank you paulaspoodle for keeping this thread bumped - I can see the positive impact on the thing that must not be named

Kilbranan · 01/06/2019 21:25

Oopsie poopsie Googled and donated Wink

Exactly. They made one error of judgement, just the once - they apologised. I think we can allow that and move on.

Apropos of absolutely nothing: I'm playing my usual game with this Thing We Must Not Mention. An extra quid per naysayer.

HandsOffMyRights · 01/06/2019 23:22

Donated.
Their work is crucial.
Groups like Mermaids and Stonewall are going deeper into schools. The DfE enables this.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 02/06/2019 18:18

Some powerful and moving comments over there - and little by little it grows.
Just shows how although most women have no access to the bloated corporate gravy train that so many of these lobby groups feed off, women put their hard earned cash to good use. Flowers for Stephanie and everyone supporting TT.

littlecabbage · 02/06/2019 18:49

Bumpy McBumpface.

HumberElla · 02/06/2019 18:58

Fantastic resource that prioritises safety and dignity for all children, no matter what their feelings or identity. More power to them!

Mylittlepony374 · 02/06/2019 19:23

Thanks for this thread. I had no idea about TT or that they needed funding. Now I've been to their website, had a read & donated what I can afford this week.

Jasging · 02/06/2019 19:32

Whoever Rebecca Turner is doing a great job pushing it on the debarcle around No Outsiders on FB - it's a shame the articles are so damn long though they are going to lose a lot of people...

(Nb I'm not Rebecca Turner!)

A thread to say thank you and to offer support to Transgender Trend

Can't remember exactly Judge Judy would not be impressed by your witness statement, would she?

InsulatedCup · 02/06/2019 20:23

Donated - heroic work!

truthisarevolutionaryact · 02/06/2019 21:51

Yay! A quarter of the way there. Brilliant..

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 02/06/2019 22:11

Oh my gosh! This is fantastic... everybody seems to have been busy googling and doing things they are not supposed to do while I was watching BGT!!

Mumfun · 02/06/2019 22:32

Just reminded me to go on the website and donate. Thanks for keeping the thread bumped!

LangCleg · 02/06/2019 22:51

A wonderful soul did five thousand things we can't mention!

Whoever you are: you're fabulous!

It is wonderful to see a very little number become a much bigger number and it is all thanks to some fantastically caring and generous people.

5000 thanks! That’s amazing. Such a wonderful, donation, as is every pound and penny that everyone gives.

Sunkisses · 03/06/2019 14:44

I am so glad I stumbled across Transgender Trend almost three years ago now, when I was fed up with idiots asking whether my kickass, stereotype-busting, short-haired, tree-climbing, trainer-wearing DDs were "trans". Have just donated to the Thing We Cannot Mention (but we can google easily or look at TT's twitter feed), and have had a Standing Order set up for £5 a month to TT for 3 years now. Please support them. They are amazing (especially Stephanie Davies-Arai), work incredibly hard, punch well above their weight, and are an essential resource for parents and health professionals

SocksKnitter · 03/06/2019 22:17

Have just donated some things to yet another great appeal. It's becoming a habit.

ChickenonaMug · 04/06/2019 10:05

Wow! I have just looked at the amazing amount of support that Transgender Trend have received today.
