"It was tough conditions out here with the wind and the heat over the last three days but, as she has over the last six months, CeCe proved herself to be tough enough to handle it," said head coach Zach Emerson of the performance. "Today was a microcosm of her entire season; she was not going to let anything slow her down. I've never met anybody as strong as her mentally in my entire life."

Texas A&M-Commerce sophomore Minna Sveard took second place, as she posted a personal season-best time of 59.21 seconds. In third place, Central Washington sophomore Sidney Trinidad made it three finishers to post a time of under a minute, as she crossed the line at 59.49 seconds.

So Minna Sveard, Sidney Trinidad, and other unnamed women lose out again to a male person, and coach implies it's because they're not as "mentally strong" as that male person. Such progress!

It's a disgrace. Those women had no chance. A mediocre man beat them because of his physiology. The end.

eurochick · 29/05/2019 13:37

"Man outruns women"

Presumably this took place at the no shit Sherlock olympics?

thirdfiddle · 29/05/2019 13:41

On the Iranian football team, I notice that the objection seems to have been that players were competing "without having completing a sex change operation". Does that mean they are not even counting any players who have completed surgery?

zippey · 29/05/2019 13:59

I can’t understand how sane people cannot think this is unfair.

Trans people need to be able to take part but not at the expense of women. They need a separate group or compete in thier biological category.

We never see trans men competing against biological men winning anything.

Datun · 29/05/2019 14:01

Indeed thirdfiddle

Those unable to prove they are female would be barred from taking part in the women's leagues until they underwent medical treatment, he said.

"If these people can solve their problems through surgery and be in a position to receive the necessary medical qualifications, they will then be able to participate in [women's] football," Mr Hashemian, a qualified doctor, said in remarks quoted by IRNA, the state news agency."

Greenfingers1 · 29/05/2019 17:06

Can anyone link to the website that tracks crimes committed by transgender people?

BickerinBrattle · 29/05/2019 19:50

I dont understand why males taking female athletic spots in high schools and colleges isn’t a violation of Title IX, which requires that the exact same dollar amount be spent on male athletes as on female athletes.

If the college is counting the money spent on Telfer in the female amount, it would seem me they’re in violation.

This needs a court challenge. Until and unless the Equality Act passes, Title IX clearly refers to biological sex not gender identity.

"It was certainly my understanding that the Iranian women's football team were fielding transwomen."

Four years ago, and your article says that it was an Iranian official who blew the story on them, so it definitely is not state sponsored cheating.
Did they compete?
Here are the Iranian women's football team results.

AlwaysComingHome · 29/05/2019 23:13

I dont understand why males taking female athletic spots in high schools and colleges isn’t a violation of Title IX, which requires that the exact same dollar amount be spent on male athletes as on female athletes.

Because Obama’s administration changed ‘sex’ to ‘gender’ - meaning a college can blow its entire budget on male-bodied athletes without violating Title IX so long as half of them identify as female.

Durgasarrow · 30/05/2019 04:39

Every male who competes in a women's sport is a cheater.

Datun · 30/05/2019 04:42

andyoldlabour

I'm not sure what those results imply?

The article suggests post op transwomen are accepted. If they're legally female, I don't know how you can find out tho. They would just get counted as women.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/05/2019 07:22

Although they may ‘feel’ like a woman (but no one can really explain this ground gender stereotypes) in their heart of hearts they know they are male. This makes them dishonest if they push themselves into women’s spaces or competitions.

What I am trying to say, is that when the official found out they tested the whole squad, so there was no attempt by the authorities to let them play or gain an advantage over other teams.
I do agree that the article hints at letting them compete if they have had full surgery, which again if true, is IMO very wrong.
Lauren Jeska, the transwoman fell runner, who attacked the officials after they wanted to test her, still has her wins in the national championships recognised - that is an absolute disgrace.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Fell_Running_Championships

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Fell_Running_Championships

The problem is when the media start to feel sorry for the poor transwomen and the "prejudices" they have to face. That is what really makes me angry, feeling sorry for a stronger, male bodied person playing in a physical, rough sport against women.
The final words in hte following article sum up the entitlement and sheer lack of shame these people exhibit.

www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/aug/14/trans-footballers-show-strength-to-play-despite-persistent-prejudices

Datun · 30/05/2019 13:37

Yes, they tested the whole squad, and still do, it would appear. My point is is that they are only testing for pre ops. Post ops are fine.

A man without a penis is a eunuch, not a woman.

It's certainly a stance that quite a few people find acceptable. I think the reasoning is along the lines that any man who has humiliated himself to that extent, deserves to dominate over women.

I know you disagree with it, though.

GrinitchSpinach · 30/05/2019 14:43

eurochick, I lol'd for real at the "no shit Sherlock Olympics." Grin

AlwaysComingHome the Trump administration has rescinded the Obama administration's Title IX guidance. People and institutions are very, very confused about the legal situation, but it's clear to me that the feminist campaigners of the 1970s and the legislators who made this law meant "sex" when they wrote "sex." I wish someone would challenge this aspect in court.

Article on Telfer's "victory" from LetsRun. Many pages of comments from runners and fans after:

Over Memorial Day weekend, everyone who cares about the future of women’s sport saw their worst fears become a reality...The fact that Telfer can change her gender and immediately become a national champion is proof positive as to why women’s sports needs protection...

While Emerson admitted he doesn’t know how he would have reacted if he were a rival coach, he said he’s very proud of what Telfer has accomplished. “People can have opinions on that all they want, but at the end of the day as a coach, I have to be proud of someone that works their ass off and does the things that I ask and is a good teammate. You have to be proud of those things.”

This is a real test of how many people will declare the emperor has no clothes.

I'm sure there are all sorts of people interested in just how compliant and obedient the populace will be to what is clearly bullshit.

Just as I'm quite sure that a whole bunch of other college coaches will now be looking for males to recruit onto women's team, in order to remain competitive.

The athletes can't protest, they're in a lose-lose situation. The fans are going to have to.

AlwaysComingHome · 30/05/2019 17:18

The slow handclap is an underrated form of protest.

As is switching over the TV.

Greenfingers1 · 30/05/2019 18:17

The thing is where are all the trans women winning men's titles.....crickets....

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/05/2019 18:19

Are there men’s events for, hmmm thinking of a female advantage here - being awesome?
