We are very proud of the training we offer to schools and we have a proven record of helping teachers to support vulnerable children who simply want to get along with their lessons like any of their classmates.

We are disappointed to find that a school governor has made a covert recording of our training because our presentations are not held in secret and all of the scientific and legal information we offer is publicly available and well-tested.

We are surprised to see that a Church of England rector is complaining about our training when we are included in the CoE guidance on support for transgender people, which can be found here.

Part of the work of Mermaids is giving training talks to schools. These talks are well received and are an important part of how we promote an inclusive and informed approach to trans children and those who support them.

We have been contacted by the Mail on Sunday who are doing an article about one such talk. This post is our response, in accordance with our policy of posting our replies to media queries for the benefit of anyone interested in our activities.

This is so ill-intentioned. At least twice I have repeated that self-ID is never enough for claiming to belong to any of the identities that are associated with other social constructs.

I will not start any other thread on race/ethnicity and nationality Datun. I might be naive/irrational/goader/derailer, etc (love the sisterhood in here). I might be someone who never went passed my GCSE (is that laughable?). I find it difficult/rude not to answer questions addressed to me: must be my girly upbringing + naivety. i have been following this long enough to know it was a mistake to engage, particularly if my view is not settled and does not conform to the majority.

Now I will try harder to pretend i am not the ignorant woman who keeps reading and can't help but answer because she was told this is the ladylike thing to do,

As I see it gender is a social construct. Sex is biological.
In the same way citizenship is a social construct, and ethnicity is biological.

So when people refer to Italian they may actually be referring to ethnicity or citizenship - it can be unclear. In the same way Jewish could refer to ethnicity or religion, again unclear. Trans ideology is trying to co-opt the biological term woman, to mean the gender social construct of feminine stereotypes. Personally I am biologically a woman yet not at all feminine and reject gender.
Words need to be clear and mean something....

Back to the subject - much of the trans ideology angers me. But the assault on children, particularly those that are female, homosexual, autistic, gender-nonconforming or abused angers me beyond anything.

There is a special place in Hell/Hades/Kur/Uffern/Lake of Fire (pick underworld of choice) for those who promote or enable this ideology in schools.

Yes, targeting schools is particularly low. I’m also reserving a special place in one of the above afterlife venues for all those MPs and politicians who have had our concerns explained to them, and who still choose silence. I won’t ever forgive them their cowardice.

It turns out being on the right side of history turns you into a thoroughly unpleasant person. both the mermaids trainer and the headteacher i the recording sound awful, utterly unable to deal with any viewpoint that doesn't match their own.

and I would be bloody furious if my children's school decided to gaslight them in this manner and also keep it a secret. it's completely unacceptable.
