It’s quite something isn’t it, bernard?

It popped back into my head this week because my company now has their own Pips. It was announced in the most head fucky way you can imagine on the intranet. Apparently, Zoe will now be coming to work two days a week as Martin. The accompanying photograph makes it abundantly clear that it’s Martin who has decided to come to work three days a week as Zoe. It’s their authentic self and we should be pleased about their leadership on gender issues.

You’ll never guess which department Zoe and Martin work in. Go on, guess.

It made a lovely contrast to the next article about how our gender pay gap has got worse since last year’s report...Hmm

AlwaysComingHome · 12/05/2019 13:57

Might be an idea that a Mod’s name is included when they delete a message the same way as when they reply. That way we can see if it’s the same person and if they are consistently displaying a particular bias against certain ideas or individuals.

Justhadathought · 12/05/2019 13:59

Struggling to find papers by her

It's not difficult to find the Miranda Yardley blog. Just google it.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/05/2019 13:59

Presumably Martin will be making himself at home in the ladies toilets on the days the gender fairy visits?

I’m really sorry that’s happening at your work Sophocles, I would be infuriated and worried in equal measure

I have shared a work toilet with an AGP male in the past. Let’s just say it was eye opening.

SophoclesTheFox · 12/05/2019 14:04

One can only assume that Zoe will be in the ladies loos. We have some gender neutral loos (sic), plus allegedly sex segregated ones, but...

The department is IT, by the way, to no ones surprise. It’s always IT.

OrchidInTheSun · 12/05/2019 14:32

My the weekend modding team really is hard at work responding to reports at the moment aren't they? I don't think I've ever seen so many deleted posts and threads for such spurious reasons in such a short space of time Hmm

The suggestion that Miranda Yardley's blog is the equivalent of a peer reviewed paper is extremely funny to me. Remember friends, we're the scientific ones. It's the trans folks that just have blogs and hearsay, not us.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/05/2019 15:29

Oh look, Forced teaming

Ereshkigal · 12/05/2019 15:29

Very noticeably.

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 15:46

Personally I'm on team science, which means being on the side of AGP when the peer reviewed research supports it, and on team enquiry whenever there is a gap in my knowledge. You're welcome to join me on my team, you might even be on it already :). Even if you aren't though I'd always take the position I do with the folks who've been misled/underinformed. That is to say that even if I don't think someone is right I'll still behave towards them with compassion, I'll look out for these poor men, just not at the expense of women after all. That's what enquiry into AGP is all about right?

Ereshkigal · 12/05/2019 15:47

That's what enquiry into AGP is all about right?

You tell us.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 15:53

Miranda references papers.
Hmm

SophieLMumsnet · 12/05/2019 15:53

We don't think we do delete a lot of threads and posts in FWR - we delete anything that we think breaks our TGs, which we do as even-handedly as we can. Yes, we do moderate them carefully - though we don't think that's news to anyone. While we do understand that you might not always agree with our moderation, we are doing our very best to allow discussion of an issue which many sites no longer allow, so it would be great if you could keep that in mind when criticising the team.

Thanks Flowers

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 15:57

Glad you recognise it as an issue, thank you for allowing the discussion.

Kilbranan · 12/05/2019 16:05

It’s almost like you are saying we are not allowed to discuss or even acknowledge the existence of AGP. Every thread on here about it ends up like Swiss cheese. Yet it’s one of the most important parts of the trans discussion because effectively AGPs are including everyone around them in their fetish whether we like it or not whilst simultaneously playing the most oppressed card.
I don’t understand the reluctance to have this essential discussion

ThePurportedDoctoress · 12/05/2019 16:11

How are they going to interpret Zoe-Martin's gender for reporting purposes?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 12/05/2019 16:21

Here's one of Miranda's posts, Gammon, if ycba: A History of Autogynephilia. It's got footnotes, work cited and further reading suggested.

MoleSmokes · 12/05/2019 16:28

Ray Blanchard is back on Twitter - tweeting merrily about Autogynephilia :-)
twitter.com/BlanchardPhD

@GammonNosher Miranda Yardley blog posts on the same topic:
mirandayardley.com/en/category/autogynephilia/

(Did I read that right in this thread - that MN Mods are deleting posts about this subject???)

KatvonHostileExtremist · 12/05/2019 16:46

Sophocles

Could Martin/Zoe possibly work in your IT department???

Possibly......Grin

I would love to be able to enquire more deeply into all of the issues with regard to statistics and gender representation that Zoe and Martin present to the company. Alas, I can’t afford to be burnt at the stake and/or lose my job. If the opportunity arises to whisper some questions in the right ears, which it might, I will, though.

kat, it is IT. Super unlikely, right?!

ThePurportedDoctoress · 12/05/2019 17:11

FFS. Is sarcasm not allowed?

ThePurportedDoctoress · 12/05/2019 17:12

I'm referring to the latest deletion, not your post Sophocles!
