Isn't that internalised sexualisation if women and girls since birth Gammon?

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 10:00

Of

That was typo.

Datun · 12/05/2019 10:01

I'll be honest part of why the idea was so interesting is because a part of me can imagine self reporting agp despite not being a man lol

Good for you. Although I imagine it might make you late for work.

Yeah probably. I can imagine such a thing being fairly widespread in the population and matching fairly close to AGP with the main difference being the observable body parts of the person doing the reporting. So it's internalized specialisation of WAG for me, AGP if I had a penis/was intersex etc?

Datun · 12/05/2019 10:03

Gammon

This is a thread from women married to, or divorced from, men with AGP.

Have a read and see if what you experience is the same.

Further, this article, to which Blanchard contributed, provides a whole section about autogynephilia and how it starts:

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 10:06

Women have been taught to perform femininity in order to have worth and value .

I totally see how I was and do wear shed loads of make up though tbh it's because I now know I have dysphoria around the skin on my face - I try to look more naturally flawless. Impossible with freckles and broken veins.

But I see it all as under an umbrella (dare I say that word) of how we are subjected to visual perfection. And perfection = good and acceptance.

Porn teaches us to feel sexy when wearing certain clothes.

typing with one eye as no glasses on and have to rush so I'm sure people can be more eloquent than me

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 10:07

I believe Blanchard has identified agp in some trans men.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 10:07

or was it a mumnetter

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 10:07

Sorry I tend to shy away from long YouTube talks after getting really severely misled about soy products a few years back. Do you have any recent Blanchard academia maybe? I had a go at that Bailey book at one point.

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 10:08

I think Miranda Yardley has done a lot on it.

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 10:11

Struggling to find papers by her. Ah well I'm sure blanchard's work has held up, after all if it was widely discredited it would have just packed up and moved on instead of fighting the good fight.

Ereshkigal · 12/05/2019 10:13

But it's too late, everyone knows about AGP. It wasn't a secret that could be contained, because there are too many men who didn't get the memo not to plaster their practices across the Internet from one end to the other.

"Reminds me of when they dogpiled Andrew Wakefield"

What?

NeurotrashWarrior · 12/05/2019 10:17

mirandayardley.com/en/a-history-of-autogynephilia/

I think Miranda is ok with him. Prefers?

Ereshkigal · 12/05/2019 10:18

AGP is as Datun has said, self evident in all its glory if you go into trans forums or on other social media.

I've never seen even an slightly compelling argument by TRAs or their allies as to why it isn't a thing.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 12/05/2019 10:18

AGP is when a man gets aroused by imagining himself as a woman. Women obviously can't have AGP because they get aroused as women because how else would you expect?

GammonNosher · 12/05/2019 10:19

People will have a go at anything mind. You ever see those groups that just exist to point at women being sex positive online then use it as evidence that women have gone down the drain since the auld feminism got started?

Ereshkigal · 12/05/2019 10:19

Reminds me of when they dogpiled Andrew Wakefield"

What?

Not sure this particular poster is entirely posting in good faith here.

TimeLady · 12/05/2019 10:23

I'd love to know the % figures for (closeted) AGPs in the elite echelons of business, charities, judiciary, politicians and the civil service, ie, those who have power and influence in running the country.

It might explain a lot of the current bat-shittery decisions.

I've often thought the same thing, TimeLady. It takes a certain mindset to give a women in business award to an occasional cross dresser.

Ereshkigal · 12/05/2019 10:36

The very idea, Bernard!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 12/05/2019 10:43

Sorry i missed genderfree first post

Is mumsnet deleting typos or spelling mistakes now...or even actual insults against a message board now?

Or did she say something dreadful!

I dont need to know what it was exactly...just whether someone is getting a bit upset at twitter being 'insulted'
