The Vagina Museum, an actual go-to place celebrating, educating, illustrating etc.

Great so far.

But.

They can barely bring themselves to use the words 'women and girls'.

The online museum still exists and is very useful for research

It was run by a man who I suspect was probably on the autistic spectrum, or at least near-atypical and who collected menstruation related items like some people collect train timetables.

In the same way that we’d all have supported the Women’s Equality Party if it had been just about women.

Will I be 'allowed' to open a museum dedicated entirely to women through the ages, their rights and fights, their sexuality, biology, roles as mothers and defenders, running the country whilst all the men were at war, then put back down at heel subservient to the men again once they returned etc.

Is that kind of thing allowed now or is it bigoted to celebrate the travels of women.

There is no good word for the whole anatomy that isn't overly medical (gynaecological system) or trans-exclusionary (e.g. female reproductive system).

Guess is what doesn't feel exclusionary but just is 100% completely exclusionary?

Yes all of the pain, discomfort, and sadness right now is because my FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM decided to self-clean instead of grow a baby.

I'm a women, I find front hole to be insanely reductive and rude.

If you own a vagina, you have FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS (well at least one of them), you don't have a dead-end tunnel surgically created from forearm skin, colon tissue, or intestinal tissue to resemble a vagina - you grew your vagina.

If you are a transman call your junk what you like but don't try to take my words because you reject them for yourself. Having a vagina is not a feeling, you have one or you don't and if you do it isn't a male vagina. If you are a transwoman you don't and can't have a vagina and that's okay but your penis is not female... and your neovagina (if you curated one) is not a vagina or part of female anatomy. Being female is not a feeling.

Be who you are, don't try to appropriate and erase who we are.

Just wanted to add, Sophestry I respect your right to hold a different view on these issues, there is room for different views.

My own community (racial minority) feels quite alienated by the current (white, middle class) drive to separate women from their traditional words but I know there are women in other communities like Sally Hines who support it. The museum will appeal to them - it’s not a wasted effort, who knows it might be a great success.

If you you weren't born with it, and have to dilate it every few days or weeks, to stop it from closing, it's not a vagina. It's a neo vagina? An imitation? A man whose had his penis cut off for non medical reasons, is a eunuch? Even if the wound has been moulded into a hole that can be penetrated, with time and effort, and they have other body modifications, they still have a Y chromosome, and are still male?

Only women have vaginas, and you'd think a vagina museum would recognise that. There's nothing stopping someone setting up a museum focused on genital reconstructive surgery, if they want? The vagina museum shouldn't have to worry about offending people, with biological facts.

It's a deviation from.reality and actual biology again.

No-one pretends that a replacement limb is anything other than a prosthesis as a recognition of its actually being a prosthesis. Or a boob job, the inserts are never called new boobs,they are called implants,no-one cares how desperate women are to have real life actual breast enlargement. It's called 'cosmetic' because it is only cosmetic,not real.

Bumping this. The Vagina Museum is now campaigning to get Transgender Trend shut down, on the basis that it is “transphobic...”

Wasn't it Transgender Trend that was attacked like this before? And it was found to have no case to answer.

Still, if anyone had any lingering doubts about the aims of the Vag Museum, this should clear them up nicely.

Yup. I saw that Tweet this morning as well. Guess like many other things that pertain to or were created for women, the male “women” have invaded and are now insisting they must be at the centre of everything.

The museum's short-sightedness makes me want to scream into a pillow and then have a little cry.

Even better if lots of examples of how transwomen's cleaner, better, more functional vaginas can be included to show how much better they have it! Nice clean vaginas with nothing but a bit of ky jelly in them, not nasty menstrual blood, secretions etc!

Neo vaginas are not clean.... it's basically a hole in your body. How does a hole thats was never meant to be there stay clean... it's a breeding ground for bacteria.

A woman's body and vagina are self cleaning and regulating.

I'm so sick to these people now... vaginas belong to women we've had them since the beginning of time you cannot separate the two.... it's a basic component of our physiology.

Wait, I thought the 'inclusivity' of the Vagina Museum was about trans men and non binaries ("men can have vaginas too") rather than trans women?
