Oh wise and knowledgeable women of Mumsnet I don't think the EA2010 does this at all does it? I'm not 100% certain so don't want to wade in.

Do the NSPCC get government funding?

RepealTheGRA · 04/04/2019 23:49

It’s OK they have a social media strategy. They’re going to block people. I’m sure they’ll be using terfblocker by the morning then everything will be fine again.

Can this Twitter mess be archived before it gets deleted?

BiologyNotBigotry · 05/04/2019 01:31

Just... Umm... Wow.

Maybe they've been hacked?!

This is helpful here, also:

They've been groomed.

madvixen · 05/04/2019 06:56

They've deleted the tweet

madvixen · 05/04/2019 06:59

I apologise, they haven't deleted it. I've asked MN to delete my post

JackyHolyoake · 05/04/2019 07:03

Datun

"They've been groomed."

It seems so ...

Maybe we should stop funding NSPCC? I mean, what are we paying for here? Almost £1 million pa goes on Directors' salaries alone

This is what Stonewall is telling every organisation they are involved with and why so many schools are building mixed sex toilets.

I wonder if the Charities Commission has authority over them and/or the NSPCC.

The responsibility of schools in England
Schools must provide separate sex provision for children over 8 as outlined in the Schools Premises Regulations (2012). The guidance is quite clear on this.

In June 2018, the Department of Education reissued guidance from the Department of Education on the responsibilities of school in relation to ‘gender separation’.

Paragraph 13 clearly states:

“It is permissible for toilet and boarding accommodation facilities to be separate as they are captured under existing statutory exceptions. Separate toilet and washing facilities must be provided for boys and girls aged 8 years and over pursuant to Regulation 4 of the School Premises (England) Regulations 2012, which falls within the exemption provided for in Schedule 22 of the Equality Act 2010.”

They have been challenged on their stance over and over. For months.

The clarification of an age restriction on gender reassignment is evidenced. And they still won't re-issue their guidance. It's no longer a matter of interpretation or opinion. They're categorically wrong.

And now they are being rude and dismissive and doubling down on clearly inaccurate and dangerous guidance.

They're not mistaken or uninformed. It's deliberate. And horrifying.

RepealTheGRA · 05/04/2019 07:21

No, they have in fact deleted it. Thus removing well over 200 comments criticising their stance. I do hope I lurking journo archived that and isn’t researching Sad

RepealTheGRA · 05/04/2019 07:22

*is

Datun · 05/04/2019 07:24

They'll get asked again, though.

RepealTheGRA · 05/04/2019 07:29

I too am mistaken BlushBlushBlush

truthisarevolutionaryact · 05/04/2019 07:30

Muppets! I wonder whether one of the enterprising journalists covering these issues will challenge them about their stance?
As LangCleg pointed out upthread - it's institutional capture and it's bloody disgraceful.

RepealTheGRA · 05/04/2019 07:38

Joani Walsh, who covered the worst case of Civil unrest London has seen so far this year (eating pizza on a chair) was on the thread. She’s usually pretty good and has been following this a long time.

Also think she lurks here 👋

truthisarevolutionaryact · 05/04/2019 07:39

Anyone remember this thread? The OP was tenacious in getting challenging the NSPCC about this:

Dinneratbreadsticks · 05/04/2019 07:42

So this tweet says Stonewall are "Kindly Supporting" NSPCC, so does that mean nspcc has taken money from stonewall to misrepresent the law? That just feels so grubby.

The NSPCC aren't right about this are they?
SonicVersusGynaephobia · 05/04/2019 07:48

They (NSPCC) had posted about the toilets a few times, same copy and paste tweet. Have hey deleted all of them? If not I will just repost my tweet on their other ones.

I hope someone with a brain and a genuine desire to safeguard children has this brought to their attention this morning.

hipsterfun · 05/04/2019 08:03

So this tweet says Stonewall are "Kindly Supporting" NSPCC, so does that mean nspcc has taken money from stonewall to misrepresent the law?

Would a FOI request reveal the nature and extent of any work with Stonewall, Mermaids, GI et cetera?

FermatsTheorem · 05/04/2019 08:05

sonic I just read the thread truth posted and I can recommend everyone does so.

This is not just one woke intern handling the twitter feed and going off piste, this is supported at the highest levels in the NSPCC, and when questioned on it (with examples of the way some of these policies can be traced back to policy advice emanating from David Challenge - convicted of child rape, and Jess Bradley - suspended by the NUS pending investigation into allegations of sexual assault and indecent exposure) they just doubled down on their position.

Their official position is the pants rule - don't let anyone touch you (not relevant to this) or force you to undress re. areas normally covered by pants, and listen if it makes you uncomfortable. Unless it's the swimming changing area and the person you're being told to undress next to has a penis but identifies as trans. Then you're not allowed to want privacy or feel uncomfortable. Your feelings (the ones we previously told you were important and could function as a useful Spidey sense) are now not important, in fact worse than that, they're transphobia.

I'd also suggest reading the thread on regulatory capture, because that's what's gone on here, up to the highest levels in the organisation.

DpWm · 05/04/2019 08:10

I fear that rather than their social media person being sacked over this, they'll get a promotion.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 05/04/2019 08:11

truthisarevolutionaryact I hadn't seen that thread, but oh my god, what a read that was. Well done to the OP of that thread, and how disappointing to read how casually those in charge of the NSPCC disregard the safety, dignity and privacy of girls. It doesn't surprise me that it's a man, Peter, writing those responses.
