And actually I feel that GC women online ARE currently covering themselves in glory, becoming increasingly articulate, passionate and resolute.

InionEile · 28/03/2019 21:48

Who knew men were so over-emotional about sports? The basis of his entire article is 'these are PEOPLE with FEELINGS, stop being MEAN!!'

I've noticed this attitude a lot from lefty men who comment on trans issues. They are able to sympathize with transwomen as victims of violence and prejudice but they do not see or choose to not believe that we as women suffer acts and threats of violence every day of our lives. We live in fear of male violence just as transwomen do.

Yet somehow we are supposed to step aside and ignore our boundaries and systems of safety that we have developed over centuries of campaigning in order to protect the hurt FEELINGS of transwomen. Transwomen who were born and raised with male privilege.

Lefty woke men are more than willing to overlook women's rights in order to prove woke credentials because it has zero impact on them. They're not the ones being asked to stand aside and give up their rights.

andyoldlabour bloody hell that article. Absolutely heart breaking. I feel floored and devastated after reading it. 18 years isn't enough - her life would have been longer. Poor little mite. My DD2 isn't that much older. The texts he sent were damning - he was pissed off that the child was interrupting his lifestyle. Saw her as an accessory and not much more.

Of course 'misogyny' is mentioned nowhere in the article despite the fact that he was overheard using a very misogynistic slur about her. Prospective parents of female children should be investigated for misogynistic words / deeds. I bet they're not though.

Ereshkigal · 28/03/2019 22:24

It is heartbreaking. That poor little girl.

Ereshkigal · 28/03/2019 22:26

Just bound together by mutual misogyny?

Yep. I think it really is that simple.

Justhadathought · 28/03/2019 22:32

Have to say that I've been re-evaluating my perceptions and experiences with gay men. Not all gay men, of course; but what now seems to be a sizeable majority. Like many women I've automatically assumed gay men to be allies - but am now seeing that given the winning of equal civil rights, and general cultural acceptance of homosexuality, that many gay men now feel able to express more of what they truly feel ( not all bad, of course).

My feelings may be a bit soured by my recent interactions with some gay men on the subject of trans ideology, and also pornography; and maybe by the tone and demeanour of many gay men in the public eye; but I'm now really starting to see the misogyny of many gay men. The disrespect; the loathing; the dismissal.......and looking back on my years of experience and association with gay male culture - and evaluating it differently.

One article on women's sport on the day Chelsea beat the really well funded and dominant PSG in the Champions League quarter finals.

(In front of 13,000 people - more than AFC Bournemouth get for their premier league games)

My daughter and her dad regularly go to see womens games. (Chelsea.) Apparently a good and mixed crowd. Older men who cant afford the mens game, dads with their sons and daughters, and young women who play and enjoy watching sport.

But presumably no sneery misogynists.

BickerinBrattle · 28/03/2019 23:11

What. A. Dick.

RedDogsBeg · 29/03/2019 00:08

That article really didn't go well for him, did it?

Wonder if he will actually read all of the very pertinent, articulate, intelligent comments which destroy his argument and whether or not he will respond or do a follow up article.

If this article had been written a couple of years ago I don't think it would have garnered the same comments in either the Times or on Twitter which says to me the message is filtering through. More and more people are seeing the TRA agenda for what it is and more and more people are speaking out against those who are pushing it.

Ereshkigal · 29/03/2019 00:32

Nah. He knew the response he would get, and preemptively called it "aggressive".

Lamaha · 29/03/2019 01:48

Unfortunately most of the best comments have now been deleted. Only 25 remain. Still GC and no sign of Matt but not as hard-hitting as before.

Lamaha · 29/03/2019 01:50

The strike through re Matt was not deliberate.

thecompletenonsequitur · 29/03/2019 06:52

Lamaha there are 150+ comments there now. Something weird was happening to it late last night though.

Fridasrage · 29/03/2019 06:55

Oh yay there's a threat on trans issues, it's so rare this comes up on MN... Hmm

Ereshkigal · 29/03/2019 07:17

It's a thread about a silly sexist man and his silly sexist article, actually.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 29/03/2019 07:20

No, it’s a thread on a misogynistic article about women’s sports.

FermatsTheorem · 29/03/2019 07:22

Silly sexist, racist and anti-Semitic article. With a side order of bad science.

Ereshkigal · 29/03/2019 07:25

That's the one.

KatvonfeelzlikeaMAN · 29/03/2019 07:26

Off topic but Spotted this article about surrogacy

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 29/03/2019 09:41

Racist dickhead. Because letting male people compete with women is exactly the same as not segregating ethiopian runners and such Hmm

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 29/03/2019 09:56

I often find myself wondering on this topic..stuff that will never be proven so its pointless wondering, but wondering all the same. IF something happened (maybe alien invasion or something) that made women better equipped for sports than men, somehow changed our bodies in a way that made us physically 'stronger and faster' and that, would so many men be then happy with women taking over mens sports? Have a feeling they would see the issues immediately then!

Lamaha · 29/03/2019 10:16

there are 150+ comments there now. Something weird was happening to it late last night though.

Ooh yes, and some nice new ones coming in!There's a "Jo March" with some excellent arguments -- I wonder if she's on MN in disguise!

welshgendercrit · 02/04/2019 22:41

I'm a subscriber. I called them up to cancel my subscription and they offered me half price, which I accepted. Just tell them the reason you're cancelling is financial.

Thanks, Lamaha I tried this a year ago, when my cheap introductory offer came to an end and I discovered how much it was going to cost. That's how I got my basic sub, with no mobile app (which I wouldn't use) However they've said this is being discontinued, hence the doubling of cost. I'll ring them up tomorrow and see how I get on.
