In today's Sunday Times, Rod Liddle states of Susie Green:
"My own view is that she should be in prison for child abuse and assault."

I'm pretty sure that most sincere and good people would take the hint and wonder if they were doing something wrong if Rod Liddle agreed with them.

Rod doesn't like rapists, does that make that opinion bad?
Are we only doing things right if we agree 100% of the time?

Datun · 25/03/2019 17:40

I'm pretty sure that most sincere and good people would take the hint and wonder if they were doing something wrong if Rod Liddle agreed with them.

Only if they are unable to think critically for themself.

MsVanillaRoseAuntof7
Nazi's crossdressed, what does that 'hint' to you?
Do you agree it's okay?
If so you must agree people can think for their selves?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 25/03/2019 17:45

Oh god, are we doing this again?

RepealTheGRA · 25/03/2019 17:47

I’m pretty sure that Rod Liddle agrees with me that the sky is blue, water is wet, Brexit has descended into a shitshow as well as agreeing that men are not women, castrating children is child abuse and dogs are not cats.

Everybody who is not insane agrees with me about all of that.

DonaldTwain · 25/03/2019 17:47

In consistency, Surrey police must now pursue Liddle. They must. It cannot only be women who can be guilty of the crime of misgendering, if crime it be.
Somehow I think Rod is ready for them.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 25/03/2019 17:47

MsVanillaRoseAuntof7

If you dine with one Racist, you are all racists.

OR does this only apply one way?

Can you agree with some opinions and not others, or will the world end?

ErrolTheDragon · 25/03/2019 17:49

How many times to we need to do reductio ad hitlerium re Liddell?Hmm

DonaldTwain · 25/03/2019 17:55

I’d ignore it. Hallmark of a sententious fool, that sort of comment.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 25/03/2019 17:56

It’s very unintelligent to adjust your beliefs, especially if they’re based in material reality, based on who or who does not agree with you. Considering the nasty misogynists agreeing with Susie, that its ok to give hormones and surgery to children, the comment is even more ridiculous.

animaginativeusername · 25/03/2019 20:42

It's sad that I'm happy someone is being able to make such an opinion.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/03/2019 07:29

Well this is quite a clever move, almost daring Green to go after him. Which I really doubt she will. But, she doesn't seem to have the most sensible of judgements, to put it mildly, so maybe.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/03/2019 07:34

Also while obviously women are targetted more by TRA types, they seem to have no issues going after some men. Maybe its men they think they might be able to scare into silence or something..which is part of the reason I think women are targeted so much too. Rod Liddle..is not a man who anyone would ever consider would be scared into silence on anything he wants to shout his mouth off about. Mind, god knows why they went after Miranda, surely they knew that Miranda would not just take it either. And they keep going for Posie too, when iuts quite clear she won't take it. So maybe its just for the sake of it, rather than they think that approach will get anywhere. But with each stupid police report, this whole thing is dragged further into the sunlight. TRAs are their own worst enemies I think. A lot of my friends who were previously quiet on this issue or even called me bigoted, have been 'peaked' by the behaviour of TRAs, the sheer amount of rage directed at them for asking simple questions, sometimes followed by a sustained campaign of abuse. When someone claiming to be a transactivist acts exactly like a MRA/incel, people tend to take notice. When it happens with loads of them, they definitely see it.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/03/2019 09:08

Because agreeing with someone on one topic means you must agree with them on everything. Even dickheads get things right sometimes. This is one of those times.

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 10:00

A recent poll found that 90% of the population thought the way Brexit has been handled is a national humiliation. Whilst 7% thought it was. Amongst that 90% would be Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and Kate Hoey and the likes of Gina Miller, Chukka Umunna and Vince Cable.

If I were to look at that and think, I can't agree with Nigel Farage on something, I'd have to be one of the 7% who think that it wasn't a national humiliation. This would be despite countries and leaders around the world literally laughing at us.

Alternatively I could just abstain from having an opinion which is even more bizarre.

Perhaps at times, you have to agree with people you don't much like, because reality dictates that it's probably just sane to do so.

The logic of disagreeing with someone purely because you don't otherwise like them is petty, small minded, ridiculous, and stubborn to the point of cutting your own nose off to spite your face.

Anyone suggesting it should be laughed at.

What happens if two people you hate have the opposite opinion? Who is left to tell this poster what to think?

Frankly,
I'm pretty sure that most sincere and good people would take the hint and wonder if they were doing something wrong if Karen White agreed with them.

BBC The gay people pushed to change their gender
By Ali Hamedani
(extract)
Iran is one of a handful of countries where homosexual acts are punishable by death. Clerics do, however accept the idea that a person may be trapped in a body of the wrong sex. So homosexuals can be pushed into having gender reassignment surgery - and to avoid it many flee the country (continues)

"I got to know myself better... I accepted that I was a lesbian and I was happy with that."

But living in Iran as an openly gay man or woman is impossible. Donya, now 33, fled to Turkey with her son from a brief marriage, and then to Canada, where they were granted asylum.

It's not official government policy to force gay men or women to undergo gender reassignment but the pressure can be intense. In the 1980's the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khomeini, issued a fatwa allowing gender reassignment surgery - apparently after being moved by a meeting with a woman who said she was trapped in a man's body.

They show how easy it can be... They promise to give you a loan to pay for the surgery
Shabnam, Psychologist
Shabnam - not her real name - who is a psychologist at a state-run clinic in Iran says some gay people now end up being pushed towards surgery. Doctors are told to tell gay men and women that they are "sick" and need treatment, she says. They usually refer them to clerics who tell them to strengthen their faith by saying their daily prayers properly.

But medical treatments are also offered. And because the authorities "do not know the difference between identity and sexuality", as Shabnam puts it, doctors tell the patients they need to undergo gender reassignment." (continues)

MsVanillaRoseAuntof7 any thoughts with regards the 'progressive' (?) affirmative trans rights policies in Iran?

theOtherPamAyres · 26/03/2019 11:13

This is one instance where Susie Green cannot rely on the police.

She would have to take a civil action. Not only would it be expensive and risky, but it would lay bare the decisions and events that led to the transition of Jack to Jackie.
