www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/11705459/Wimbledon-2015-Champion-Kvitova-says-periods-in-tennis-are-difficult.html

Just one more example of biological difference. It seems a couple of years ago people were finally being open and honest about women’s sport. Now women’s sport is being made a farce.

EweSurname · 06/03/2019 12:43

She is so dignified

Please everyone screen shot any abuse... do not be abusive back. We can hold our heads up because all we want is biological definition for fair sport .. after huge strides in female sport in recent years we can’t silently stand by & see an injustice #fairplay4females

MeAgainAgain · 06/03/2019 12:49

Thank you for that telegraph article provincial, really interesting.

i wonder if the tennis (and other sports bodies) took on board the idea / suggestion to educate young female players around periods? It would be great if they did, I would't be surprised if they didn't

The fact of so many sports having compulsory white gear is bound to be a reason that girls stop doing them around puberty TBH it's just such an obvious thing.

jay55 · 06/03/2019 12:54

I imagine that top sportswomen, especially in tennis fly so much that birth control that stops periods isn't suitable due to dvt risk.

Provincialbelle · 06/03/2019 12:55

Thanks MeAgain. I pointed it out as an obvious biological difference between Male and female athletes but of course there are many more implications for sportswomen. As one competitor said, it’s not nice having to wear compulsory short white skirts with frequently visible white knickers while having a 4K camera filming you close up from behind. But I doubt it was women who set the dress code.

andyoldlabour · 06/03/2019 13:01

Vixxxy

"Meanwhile, all other science says males have an advantage over females, as does common fucking sense."

That is biological science, and is backed up by the latest transwoman cyclist Natalie Van Gogh, who at 44 years of age seems to be getting better and stronger against the professional women on the UCI classics stage. The latest is a 26th place at Le Samyn des Dames, a course which wouldn't exactly favour a larger rider. Only a 110 finished out of a field of 160.

Yep white tight fitting clothes for women in sports is just ridiculous.
If ever there was a giant flag waving "patriarchy here", that's it.

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 14:03

There was also this:

...which nobody realised was in any way iffy until it was pointed out to them.

Datun · 06/03/2019 14:10

OMG milly what the hell IS that???

I had to look at it two or three times.

Provincialbelle · 06/03/2019 14:11

Oh god I remember that!

But presumably those girls owned mirrors so knew what they looked like ?!!??!!!

MillytantForceit · 06/03/2019 14:12

Colombian cycling team.

TinselAngel · 06/03/2019 14:28

Sharron is possibly the most conventionally attractive female British sports woman ever. The idea anybody could mistake her for a trans woman is ludicrous.

MeAgainAgain · 06/03/2019 14:36

TBF there is a pic of some men who won a cycling thing in eyewateringly revealing shorts...

POssibly people who design cycling gear are eitehr a bit rubbish or enjoy a bit of a jape.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 06/03/2019 14:38

Yes. I think it highlights the ego of RM, they cannot see the difference between male and female, therefore think no one else can.

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/03/2019 14:41

Lowering the tone here ...
But there was this rower who found the medal ceremony overwhelmingly exciting. Grin

Provincialbelle · 06/03/2019 15:28

It’s not just that Sharron Davies is exquisitely attractive and feminine, it is that suggesting she could be mistaken for trans is a despicable taunt and insult. It’s obvious McKinnon is an intellectual lightweight, a bully and someone who gets off on publicly insulting female sporting legends.

Happily Daley Thomson has supported Davies publicly so now we have a Male sporting legend onside as well.

Datun · 06/03/2019 15:48

It must kill McKinnon that Sharron looks so bloody athletic, and yet such a woman. She needs zero accoutrements to show how female she is.

Provincialbelle · 06/03/2019 16:06

Aside from the fact that Sharron in a swimsuit very obviously has a female body, and has given birth. She has undergone menarche, menstruation, pregnancy, giving birth, breast feeding and menopause. In other words, she has a 100% female body.

McKinnon has undergone none of those experiences, never could do so, and obviously retains Male genitalia which McKinnon thinks makes her a lesbian and that other (actual) lesbians should want to have sex with her, and if they don’t they’re “discriminating”. McKinnon is a vile woman hating bully and I for one do not intend to stand by and watch women’s sports, safe places and rights be torn to bits by McKinnon and like minded thugs.

This is good, needs a wider audience.

‘Alison is a professor of physiology at University of Otago. She explains the multiple effects of testosterone in male foetal development and that these hormonal effects do not diminish later in life’

Beamur · 06/03/2019 16:36

I really am struggling to get my head around a transwoman effectively using 'looking like a transwoman' as an insult.

Cloven · 06/03/2019 16:43

Would it be descending into cattiness to notice that McKinnon specifically singled out Sharron's jawline?

As it happens Sharron has an amazing jawline - extremely defined and also very feminine in its shape. Not remotely "trans" looking. Whereas Rachel's jaw is... possibly Rachel's least feminine feature. Rachel is a very transparent creature in some ways.

BettyDuMonde · 06/03/2019 16:54

Indeed. It appears that Rachel McKinnon has internalised transphobia.

TemporaryPermanent · 06/03/2019 17:12

It's so bizarre the way Dr McKinnon seems unable to follow their own arguments through beyond A-B. In their opinion, if that photo of Sharron Davies was presented to people as a transwoman, many people would think she was a man (argument a-b) and that this would show that people are prejudiced against transwomen because they have what transwomen consider to be masculine features.

And yet, she wouldn't be a man (b-c). Those opinions, if really held, would be erroneous, not because of looks or features, but because of biological reality. Whereas, if Dr McKinnon was thought to be a man, this would be correct. It's almost as if Twitter responses and followers represent reality, and how well you pass is how female you are. It is odd getting a glimpse of profound sex dysphoria and its distorting effect. What was that detransitioner account linked to on here somewhere explaining that the more attention paid to the body and the more medical treatment received for sex dysphoria, the worse sex dysphoria tends to get.

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/03/2019 17:51

Now Joss Prior is weighing in. I don't even understand what that is meant to mean.

Sharron Davies
MeAgainAgain · 06/03/2019 17:57

Who is joss prior?
