They really really hate women who don't look like a petite plasticised barbie doll, don't they? And, as PP have noted, there's a ton of internalised transphobia going on here. Very weird and disturbing.

I think it's a frustration that tall, wonderfully athletic women are a) still women, and b) can look incredibly attractive.

Height, defined muscles, a jaw bone that could cut cheese, all looking as hot as you like.

I think to them it's wrong. Because to them women are often depicted as lesser than, demeaned, degraded, victims.

Sharron, to them, is a disconnect. A strong, muscular woman who is as hot as hell.

Since the data is plain to see - Male bodies have a substantial advantage over females for sport - and the reasons are well documented, McKinnon et al have no case.

They know this, and instead resort to abusing Sharron Davies, who has made moderate and intelligent arguments deserving a respectful hearing.

Well if they like bullying, they have picked the wrong victim, since elite sportswomen are much tougher and twice the women they will ever be. Secondly, any man with daughters / sisters / girlfriend is most unlikely to be sympathetic to McKinnon’s aggression against women.

Let us hope this nonsense is stopped soon and for good

I hired Sharron many many years ago along with Tessa Saunderson for a works event. I was totally intimated by their fabulousness so did not make the most of the occasion.

Mckinnon's really cross. She didn't think through the jibe about sharrons looks. I think she was probably saying that gc types always say they can tell a tw from a woman, but they can't. But even in mckinnon world it wasn't well thought through.

Mckinnon world is where she lives. She teaches mckinnon studies at the University of mckinnon. She rides her bike in the mckinnon-drome, then logs on to the mckinnonet and tweets to the rest of mckinnon world (the ones she hasn't blocked with the mckinnon-list).

I try not to post criticism of inviduals but she's having a go at our sporting icons now.

As @TemporaryPermanent says, it's an illogical attempt to make the argument that transwomen are just like women and so don't have a competitive advantage.

Their assertion is that Sharron Davies looks (in their opinions) less feminine or as feminine as they do. Therefore there is no difference between transwomen and women.

Missing the point of course that Sharron D is an absolutely exceptional woman. Much taller than average and literally world beating athlete. At some points in her career no woman was better than her. And yet, a non elite transwoman has supposedly similar features.... can they not realise that this is making the argument that they are trying to reject!

SD is awesome, by the way. And a bit of a ground breaker back in the day. I'm old so know her from rooting for her as a swimmer. Who would've got Olympic gold if it wasn't for a cheat.

i saw a prog about her a few years ago and she had the most utterly hideously appalling childhood and then she was abused and in and out of care and it's a shocking story that she was really strong to tell.

Yes, Fatima is amazing. I agree. She seems to have been off the radar for a few years, happily raising her son.

In fact, we were absolutely spoiled for choice for incredible, inspiring women athletes in the 70s/80s/90s.
Makes my heart hurt for the young women currently at or approaching their sporting prime, wondering if they’ll be bumped off the team in favour of a trans identified male any moment.

They, and the next women after them, deserve better.

Sharron Davies is bloody gorgeous! And a generally amazing women who is tough and not scared to speak to truth.

Wtf is that height comment supposed to mean? My sister is slightly taller than our dad he will be surprised to know that means he is a trans woman.

To be fair to joss, I don’t think joss was saying anyone taller must be trans.

I think joss was trying to disprove “transwomen are men and so are taller/more muscular/stronger than women” forgetting that the two bell curves for men and women overlap but that men on average are taller/faster/stronger.

It still doesn’t change the fact that women are not medically/surgically altered men but are an entity in their own right, which I think is more pertinent.
