Fair play for women have developed a new leaflets regarding women's sports. We should all now share widely with anybody we know in any kind of sporting capacity so that we can get everybody talking about this if possible.

The time to speak is now and as we've seen from Public reaction to the Sporting issue public opinion is overwhelmingly in favour of keeping women sport for biological females only.

Hurrah!

andyoldlabour · 02/03/2019 12:03

More and more ordinary people are being made aware of this, and thankfully elite female athletes have had their eyes opened as well.

youllhavehadyourtea · 02/03/2019 12:48

What is it with cycling?

Trousering · 02/03/2019 13:23

That Dutch team photo is quite something.

It's literally presenting the man frot and centre of women's cycling. This is such an illustration of how people give in to the irrational demands of disturbing people in order to placate them. It is so visible and yet people are pretending not to see it.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/03/2019 13:29

The Dutch team photo is utterly shocking. It turns all the sportswomen into props to help centre the man.
This is never what women's sports has been about and I don't know how anyone can have thought that picture was OK. No wonder all the women look pissed off.

LizzieSiddal · 02/03/2019 13:31

This has just been on the one o’clock news on radio 4.

They said something along the lines of “SharronDavis is the latest sportswomen to raise concerns about trans women competing alongside biological women, in sport”. Then went to a mini report, RM was mentioned too.

Great to hear this being

*mentioned as a “news” item.

TimeLady · 02/03/2019 13:33

Sharron Davies' comment was mentioned on the BBC Radio 2 news bulletin just now. I was surprised by that.

borntobequiet · 02/03/2019 13:33

Radio 4 at 13:00 as well

TimeLady · 02/03/2019 13:45

GC crew in the weekend newsroom? Grin

MillicentSnitch · 02/03/2019 14:01

Radio 6, too.

LizzieSiddal · 02/03/2019 14:03

Radio 4, two o'clock bulletin too. Yah, go Sharron! I do hope she's not getting too much grief.

TheCuriousMonkey · 02/03/2019 15:14

MY DP (who is a man but missed the memo that all men love sport) has been saying for ages that sport will be the thing that peaks the nation. I think he's right. I'm not particularly interested in sport either but am really emotional at the sight of these sporting greats going public. Thank you Sharron, Martina, Kelly and all the others. I hope the backlash is not too awful.

Purpleartichoke · 02/03/2019 16:00

I have never really cared about sport as a participant or a fan. Even I recognize that women’s sports help all women. The trailblazers who snuck into marathons helped break down barriers across society. The women who play today are helping to keep those barriers down.

happydappy2 · 02/03/2019 16:25

In many areas womens sports are viewed as 2nd rate to mens-womens rugby televised the highlights not the whole game. This is hard to explain to an indignant young girl. There is no way it’s ever right for Male bodied people to compete against women, when their size & strength give them an advantage.

Binglebong · 02/03/2019 16:50

Fair Play For Women have written an excellent article, which I read and promptly lost, about Surly Shirley. Worth hunting out.

rocketromano · 02/03/2019 16:57

Hah the Dutch are surely trying to peak trans the world with that team photo. Front and centre indeed! FFS Angry

OvaHere · 02/03/2019 16:58

I think it was this one by 4thwavenow unless FPFW have done a similar one.

You're right Ova, thank you.

MillytantForceit · 02/03/2019 19:24

It's gone mainstream on the BBC Sport website.

I have a question... on what evidence/study or discussion did the IOC make its decision?

Nephilim1964 · 02/03/2019 19:42

Kristy Swanson speaking out now and also says that her ex Olympian husband is also disgusted.

greenelephantscarf · 02/03/2019 19:46

totally off topic but my dd just had the idea that we should have joint sports competitions.
like football world cup: one half played by the female athletes and the other by the males.

MillytantForceit · 02/03/2019 19:48

.....And Kristy Swanson is yer ackchewell Buffy The Effing Vampire Slayer!

A strangely appropriate metaphor for McFibber and their ilk.
