I didn't realise Miranda Yardley was in court today over alleged transphobic harrasment.

At Basildon Magistrates Court where Miranda Yardley is on trial for transphobic Harassment. The prosecution applied for reporting restrictions to prevent the complainant Helen Islan from being named. The judge has not granted them. So Helen Islan can be named.

Sending Miranda good luck vibes.

The sooner the better that healthy but troubled children are protected from Mermaids pushing drugs and surgery on them.

I hope those that fund it now will spend the vast amount needed to repair the lives of those hurt when it finally gets stopped. I hope the long term medical fall out for those children is not as horrific as we fear. The damages the courts will award one day will be vast.

IDoN0tCare · 01/03/2019 17:53

Isn’t it funny how a small child is old enough to make the decision to take life changing drugs, that will destroy their body, but needs to be protected, because they are so so young and vulnerable, even past the age of majority?

Apparently there was significant evidence concerning Helen Islan’s online behaviour towards Stephanie Davies-Arai.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Helen. She has behaved appallingly.

OrchidInTheSun · 01/03/2019 17:55

I have zero sympathy for her. She's a horribly aggressive woman who delights in encouraging pile ons of people she disagrees with.

Her tears were because she wasn't getting her own way. Miranda has done nothing to attack her.

TowelNumber42 · 01/03/2019 17:55

I do not feel sorry for someone who does this shit to children no matter how much she cries about feeling sad because people don't agree with her.

IDoN0tCare · 01/03/2019 17:56

I may be unpopular here for saying this

That’s your female socialisation kicking in and that’s what TRAs and others bank on, when they insist you follow their doctrine.

RiverTam · 01/03/2019 17:56

Well, that’s marvellous for Miranda, what a hellish time.

But good God almighty, what the fuck is going on? How can these imbeciles be pandered to by the police and the CPS? It’s embarrassing, appalling.

Bloody hope Big Lottery pull back on funding Mermaids.

nauticant · 01/03/2019 17:58

I've seen nothing from @mimmymum on twitter except vitriol against opponents and mutual grooming with supporters.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 01/03/2019 18:00

She too must have been traumatised by the day

What are you talking about, it was her case....Confused
She's the reason this happened.

Thingybob · 01/03/2019 18:03

That’s your female socialisation kicking in
No it's age related empathy (and maybe a little HRT taken during the menopause? Grin)

IDoN0tCare · 01/03/2019 18:04

Miranda’s victory over bullies, famous sports women speaking out, papers starting to speak the truth, it just feels like someone has put 50p in the meter and the lights are shining in all the dark corners. We haven’t won the war yet, to protect women and children, but by fuck we’re starting to win a few battles.

IDoN0tCare · 01/03/2019 18:05

Thingybob Grin Grin Grin Grin

Thingybob · 01/03/2019 18:06

What are you talking about, it was her case

Yes I know but she's been told she is in the right and has believed it. I would imagine that belief has been shaken today.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/03/2019 18:07

Didn't the magistrate give her a chance to back out this morning? I assume that was done from a laudable mix of not wanting to waste public money, court officials time, but also an attempted kindness.

I do feel sorry for her family though. Whatever else happens I hope the media (official and social) leaves them alone.

theworldistoosmall · 01/03/2019 18:07

She too must have been traumatised by the day

Traumatised for what exactly?

AssassinatedBeauty · 01/03/2019 18:08

If she is traumatised by being told that other people are free to hold differing opinions and to say so publicly, then I hope she gets the help she clearly needs. None of that makes her a victim or deserving of any particular extra sympathy.

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/03/2019 18:09

I’m glad this has been thrown out.

Miranda, hope you’re having a stiff gin - this must have been one hell of an ordeal.

Now, I think we need to ask why this keeps happening because this constant abuse of the law? it’s clearly a tactic to intimidate. Nobody wants to be dragged through the courts and incur that stress and loss of earnings/costs. I think we need to ask why malicious comms is being used like this.

Any legal bods care to weigh in on the following?

  • can Miranda recoup costs?
-can Miranda countersue (or whatever one does)
  • will there be any pushback on islan? Since the judge threw it out and she was accused of blackmailing the court it would appear that her case may be viewed as vexatious?

The abuse of the legal system needs to stop. This is public money going on vexatious prosecutions. It has a chilling effect on free speech, a damaging effect on individuals and it damages the trust in our police and legal system

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/03/2019 18:09

But what are these tiger mommies teaching their trans kids (in a rather unpleasant and stereotypical male pattered aggressive way)?

That anyone can be a target if they don’t agree with you - even if you throw at them (man in a dress) what others throw at you (man in a dress) - which is the same thing that you use as evidence of attack and harm on you? And that they can make major life decisions but still need their mums to stand up for them (not controlling at all, eh?). What logic is this?

EweSurname · 01/03/2019 18:09

Not if she’s got roz keaveny and co telling her the judge got it all wrong and how this is an example of institutionalised transphobia, probably

Traumatised for what exactly

To be fair, I'd imagine that being cross examined for two hours wouldn't be the most pleasant of experiences...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/03/2019 18:10

Was the judge a man or a woman?

FermatsTheorem · 01/03/2019 18:11

Man, if I caught the drift of Miranda's youtube report correctly.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 01/03/2019 18:11

Surely the police and CPS need to be held accountable for moving these types of cases forwards?

It’s one thing to visit a person to investigate whether a crime has gone on but to actively move a case forward when it’s clear no crime has gone on is a waste of time, resources and an abuse of power.

I really hope this is a civil case.

sackrifice · 01/03/2019 18:11

Yes I know but she's been told she is in the right and has believed it.

Bullshit.

She quite gaily harasses and doxxes other women and their kids all over the fucking shop.
