So what if trans women take over women’s sport?

Don’t know if this has already been copied but apparently if trans women did win all the trophies it would be a good thing.

So if it's just sport, and life ain't fair... why does the unfairness have to fall on women? Hmm

Sport is segregated by sex not gender, for sound physiological reasons. Male and female, not masculine and feminine. Transwomen are not, and never can be, female. DSDs are a different question - some of the affected individuals may, for the sake of fairness to women as a whole, need to be treated as disadvantaged males rather than advantaged women. There's probably no answer everyone will consider 'fair' to everyone- but the current situation is developing to be grossly unfair to women and girls.

NotTerfNorCis · 23/02/2019 12:08

Wow that article is vile. And the sad thing is he'll get pats on the back for his misogyny.

Popchyk · 23/02/2019 12:14

"Then I remember that there is a whole group of entitled, narcissistic men who actually do think like this".

This.

I genuinely think that a lot of men feel that they are doing a noble and generous thing by handing over women's events, achievements and spaces to men who they see as "lesser" than they are. They give up nothing themselves but they set about ensuring that women must give up things.

So, the hierarchy as they see it is:

Men
Lesser men
Women

And there are many men who feel that it makes them honourable and right to assert that women should always be on the bottom.

Leavesofgrass · 23/02/2019 12:16

Was coming on here to post this article.

Such misogyny. But I am encouraged by the comments - pretty much every one seeing this for what it is: utter disdain for the rights of women. Ugh

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 23/02/2019 12:21

Perhaps the author of the article would like to apply for the position of CEO (or whatever the title is) at Stonewall, so they have a wider audience for their poisonous views.

noraclavicle · 23/02/2019 12:21

Went to see the Peanuts exhibition yesterday. Had forgotten how much I loved Peppermint Patty. Would have been great to see Shulz’s gentle yet incisive take on the current mess those in charge are inflicting on women’s sports.

So what if trans women take over women’s sport?
Datun · 23/02/2019 12:22

I want to see top world class women in sports, not mediocre trans women.

No one wants to see mediocre men running. It's pointless. It doesn't matter how they identify, spectator enjoyment, and therefore investment, will evaporate.

People know full well what constitutes fairness and competition.

Even if it was proven, beyond doubt, that you could make a man exactly the same physiologically as a woman, people still wouldn't want it.

They want to watch women and they want to watch men. At their peak.

Not women and artificially weakened men. It's just boring and distasteful.

When you know you are watching athletes who have perhaps been doped, it's the same thing. You can't get on board.

People know what constitutes fair competition. And it's not just an abstract thing that governing bodies have decided you must have. It's a primaeval, visceral inner knowledge.

Competition doesn't work without fairness.

"Going through the protracted and often traumatic transition process, securing the necessary medical and psychological documentation, living their entire lives under a fraudulent identity"

Some of these male journalists should really ask themselves what it is that makes them so eager to believe that men aren't men if they want to look like women.

Datun · 23/02/2019 12:24

I genuinely think that a lot of men feel that they are doing a noble and generous thing by handing over women's events, achievements and spaces to men who they see as "lesser" than they are. They give up nothing themselves but they set about ensuring that women must give up things.

Yes.

There is a sort of resigned sigh, of yes I know I'm going to have to do this. It pains me more than it pains you, but what can I say? No no no, don't congratulate me. I'm only doing what I must.

Absolute wankers.

Datun · 23/02/2019 12:26

"Going through the protracted and often traumatic transition process, securing the necessary medical and psychological documentation, living their entire lives under a fraudulent identity"

A) Self ID, hello?

B) Or acquiring a massive dose of late onset gender euphoria, as a transwomen called it on here a couple of weeks ago.

How can you get to be a sports writer on a national newspaper, whilst remaining this ignorant/sheltered?

NotTerfNorCis · 23/02/2019 12:29

One of those comments makes an interesting point.

If Caitlyn Jenner is female then all those Olympic medals in male categories were actually won by a woman. Should the records be updated to reflect that?

WeRiseUp · 23/02/2019 12:30

Yes. Living out your fetish 24/7 is a fantastic experience and all the trauma is experienced by the poor people who are forced to go along with it.

FermatsTheorem · 23/02/2019 12:32

I too saw the "Chief Sportswriter" byline and thought "Fuck fuck fuckity fuck and fuck some more."

Fucking woke bellend of a completely misogynistic wankstain.

Sometimes only a great deal of swearing will do.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 23/02/2019 12:34

Jenner set a new world record FOR THE MEN

Imagine if they'd been competing as a woman? How long would that record last?

Datun · 23/02/2019 12:35

If Caitlyn Jenner is female then all those Olympic medals in male categories were actually won by a woman. Should the records be updated to reflect that?

As far as I know the event was not open to women. Which is why they can't change it to having been won by a woman.

The entire ideology is nuts.

IDoN0tCare · 23/02/2019 12:36

Maybe the beardy misogynistic bloke should watch this brilliant piece.

BettyDuMonde · 23/02/2019 12:36

What an absolute dickhead.

CottonBlanket · 23/02/2019 12:36

Fuck the KKK analogy.

The white supremists would put babies, toddlers and sometimes adults in cages and use them by the river sides as alligater bait.
White supremists would drive into black neighbourhoods and spray bullets into the homes of black families.
White supremists would publically drag, mutilate, set fire to, and torture individuals before tying nooses round necks and hanging til death - most within 'nice' communities done in front of the town library, grocery store and in the light of day. Children would be collected from school early to watch the spectacle and postcards and greetings cards using pictures of the lynching would be sold as funny gifts.
White supremists would publically sodomise men in front of the mens children, wives, community members in order to establish their hierarchy over the black folk and keep them in line.

I won't go on, although I could. There's far more.

It is an INSULT to the true victims of the KKK, past and present to compare our valid concerns with the trans agenda to the sheer evil atrocities of white supremists. I HATE from the bottom of my heart this comparison.

WeRiseUp · 23/02/2019 12:39

I dunno. I can imagine in school books it saying.

INTERESTING FACT:

Did you know......

The world record holder of the decathlon - which can only be entered by men, is actually a woman!

Strange world! Bet you never knew that!

CottonBlanket · 23/02/2019 12:40

I am sorry for swearing ( although this is Mumsnet! I know it doesn't matter!) But it really upsets me. The comparison is laughable is it weren't so infuriatingly heartbreaking.

WeRiseUp · 23/02/2019 12:41

My response wasn't to your powerful post cotton.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/02/2019 12:41

If Caitlyn Jenner is female then all those Olympic medals in male categories were actually won by a woman. Should the records be updated to reflect that?

Sure. Put those among all the other records for female decathletes.

FermatsTheorem · 23/02/2019 12:43

Janice Turner is on the case:

twitter.com/VictoriaPeckham/status/1099278853070049281

The first response is a hoot - says the Indy's sportswriter has "found his inner Alan Partridge."

CottonBlanket · 23/02/2019 12:43

No I know that, WeRiseUp. It was an afterthought on my part.

LangCleg · 23/02/2019 12:48

Watch him melt down in confusion should anyone suggest to him that the answer is simple: two categories - women's and open.

The idea that the default for anything could be woman and not man will cause his brain to melt down and then we will never have to hear from him again.
