Firing Martina from Allies is working out to be an own goal as more people stand up and speak out on this.

twitter.com/hashtag/TeamNavratilova?src=hash

We know how twitter works Hmm in regards to women speaking out so perhaps this thread could be a place to gather excellent quotes and pictures for people to spread across other platforms and show that Martina's views are shared not by a trickle of support but a tidal wave.

I feel in need of a very nice #TeamNavratilova picture to put on my fbook, any social media gurus around to advise?

I am following every woman who speaks up, the numbers talk for themselves.

If you have been blocked by twitter then it is time for a new account, rise up women.

I find it astonishing how certain trans individuals are treated as some sort of oracles that have to be consulted every time these issues are discussed. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the GC trans voices and I'm not saying they shouldn't contribute when asked, but it's a bit galling when women's rights campaigners like Nicola Williams aren't allowed to appear on the same BBC programme as a trans person just because some nutcase compares Fair Play For Women to the Ku Klux Klan.

Courday · 20/02/2019 21:03

I'm still appealing my ban. But agree with the sentiment - this needs spread far and wide. Copied to every sports person in the world, Navratilova, Holmes, Radcliffe - who next? The more who speak the easier it will be for even more to join them.

SpeakUpXXWomen · 20/02/2019 21:04

Agreed, we need women discussing women's rights, women discussing women's sports and women discussing women's bodies.

Oh, and I would love it if Martina would read about RMs contribution to lesbianism. I am sure she will not be keen on RMs ideas about getting over 'genital hangups' of whatever nonsense they spouted

SpeakUp I swore I wouldn't go back to Twitter, but you have persuaded me Smile

Juells · 20/02/2019 21:17

What are DSD women?

Juells · 20/02/2019 21:18

OK, I looked it up

RaininSummer · 20/02/2019 21:19

I am finding these developments quite exciting. The more well known sportspeople who speak up, the more others will. Disappointed with Boy George though.

boatyardblues · 20/02/2019 21:27

Juells - Disorders of sex development, i.e. intersex and conditions which give rise to abnormal hormone levels. Caster Semenya has a DSD.

WokerThanWoke · 20/02/2019 21:31

Under Paula Radcliffe’s tweet there were 7 replies disagreeing and tens and tens of people saying thank you for speaking out.

ToeToToe · 20/02/2019 21:41

Emma Kennedy:

When @Martina was the woman who carried Gay Rights and was one of only two women I was aware of being gay when I grew up, this is a fucking disgrace.

How dare they?

Seriously.

How DARE they?

Go back to when she was being pilloried left right and centre for being gay and she held her head up and kept going.

She should have STATUES built for her, not being told to fuck off because she has an opinion about testosterone.

terfsandwich · 20/02/2019 22:26

Greenwald supporting her is v important. It will be difficult for many American virtue signalling leftists to turn on him.

Dam bursting
Everything that sports women have being dying to say but we’re to afraid to

Strength in numbers
Martina led the way cracked the dam

I agree. I wonder if it's dawning on any of them that they are not been treated as women by the media?

ErrolTheDragon · 20/02/2019 23:38

I wonder if it's dawning on any of them that they are not been treated as women by the media?

I think Debbie Hayton is well aware of that, for one.

SpeakUpXXWomen · 20/02/2019 23:50

Debbie Hayton's wife certainly is, wouldn't it make more sense for her to be educating the nation on living with transgenderism? Anyhoo I digress.

More sportswomen speaking up.

I am old enough to remember Martina when she first came out and everything she went through.
I don't have adequate words to describe her courage, her talent, her honesty, principles, intelligence and sense of justice.
I am aghast.

SpeakUpXXWomen · 21/02/2019 00:19

Debbie Hayton, if you are on here, please would you make a point of asking in the next interview like that WHY ARE NO WOMEN PRESENT to represent women in the discussion about WOMEN? I know you get it and I thank you for speaking out.

Paula Radcliffe’s marathon record of 2:15:25 would have broken the men’s marathon record in 1954. If only Paula had trained and run harder, she could easily shave 14 minutes off that time and be a match for Kipchoge Hmm

If Paula can’t stand up and say there’s a difference between men and women in sport and be listened to, abandon all hope.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/02/2019 05:41

The people are talking, isn't it great?
