This debate needs...violence, says Lib Dem candidate

So sarah brown (erstwhile Cambridge councillor, introducer of non-EA2010 compliant policy on "gender", and active member of the LGBT+ Lib dems) thinks of the debate with feminists who don't support trans women:

Violence worked for the suffragettes"
"When you have a mere philosophical disagreement then violence is not appropriate, however these people are, at a aminimum, trying to eradicate us from the public realm"
"The gloves are off"

Worth noting that sarah frequently says that "t**fs" want her and other transwomen dead and want to eliminate them from the public realm.

I find this genuinely chilling. All heat, no light.

Signs of paranoia and mental instability. But the TRAs always try to claim that their gender delusions aren’t a mental illness!
Since when has “ preserving single sex toilets for women’s safety and privacy” become “trying to eradicate us” or “wanting us dead”?

happydappy2 · 13/02/2019 08:55

Looks like male aggression?

Anlaf · 13/02/2019 08:55

Sorry - missed this:

”you know when things started to change for LGBT+ people in the first place? When our predecessors started to smash shit up after one provocation too many”
”it works”

”you can't expect us not to defend ourselves from people who want us dead"

It will be interesting to see how the party responds - I am a Lib Dem and would be pleased to see non violent debate.

Brown should say who “ these people “ are that brown wants to commit violence on

Threewheeler1 · 13/02/2019 09:03

How do the Lib Dems manage to turn a blind eye to this kind of inflammatory statement, when women are skinned and shamed as transphobes for pointing out how violent the TRA rhetoric is?
And Sarah Brown is pretty much the icing on the cake in that party, all shades of wrong. What woman would feel comfortable working for or alongside someone who openly encourages violence towards women who disagree? Fully demonstrating a nice bit of male aggression there. Shut up or I'll thump you.
They are the pits.

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/02/2019 09:04

Let’s hope it doesn’t happen. Nobody wants violence

If it does though, the public will not look kindly on it.

Look at the huge responses to the steph hayden story. That’s hit two main nerves.

  1. Ordinary woman locked up for saying what everyone thinks - the reader can see themselves there.
  2. Heavy handed (three officers) arrest of an ordinary women in front of her kids for saying what everyone thinks / factual information.

That story catapulted this out of the ‘well all this metropolitan crap, nothing to do with me’ into a framing where someone just like the reader has been arrested for saying something the reader believes. That makes it personal.

Now add in violence. Cover it visually, because the sight of large male bodied people physically intimidating ordinary people for something the viewer believes is going to peak an awful lot more people.

I predict recruitment of female allies to do the dirty work, to make the visuals better.

littlebrowndog
Exactly. She needs to make it explicit so we can all see what she (still) is.

Anlaf · 13/02/2019 09:06

Here's a library picture of the way sarah presents the "other" side of the debate.

Does PC Gul have anything to say about this?

Threewheeler1 · 13/02/2019 09:09

"getting shanked"
I'd like Sarah to show me her evidence for this.
DARVO.

StrangeLookingParasite · 13/02/2019 09:10

these people are, at a aminimum, trying to eradicate us from the public realm

Why do they persistently invent these ridiculous straw-man arguments?

Horsewithnoma · 13/02/2019 09:13

It's a straw trans woman argument?

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/02/2019 09:15

This is why transsexuals are increasingly distancing them selves from these idiots.

HumberElla · 13/02/2019 09:31

That’s just awful. This is openly advocating for preemptive violent attacks on anyone who disagrees.

Why would anyone do this? And why isn’t Twitter interested in what seems to be obvious incitement?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/02/2019 09:33

Above the law.

PlumPorter · 13/02/2019 09:40

Women - well known for 'shanking' men Hmm

maslinpan · 13/02/2019 09:43

The violence used by the suffragette movement was not against people, but shop windows, the painting in the National Gallery, pillar boxes etc. Arguably it was down to the role of women doing war work that finally achieved suffrage - and initially not for all women either. Sarah needs to brush up on the basics before trying to co-opt women's history for dubious means

Carowiththegoodhair · 13/02/2019 09:58

This is very frightening for those of us doxed and threatened.

Floisme · 13/02/2019 10:03

Violence - what a strangely male solution!

And as maslin says, Sarah seems to have a very shaky grasp of suffragette history.

HumberElla · 13/02/2019 10:06

It’s so blatant. The pent up aggression, the wish to ‘hit first and hit hardest’, is clear. There will be others who are waiting for an excuse to act this out, and who are being given license to do so by this individual.

theOtherPamAyres · 13/02/2019 10:18

It's very difficult to riot in short skirts and heels.

MillytantForceit · 13/02/2019 10:20

This is the best Militant Ooszlum Bird argument since the Stop The War Coalition called for a war against Israel.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 13/02/2019 11:09

Good grief. Another seriously unwell individual. Lib dems really are losing credibility by the moment by not getting a handle on this.

LizzieSiddal · 13/02/2019 11:32

Would it be worth reporting these tweets to the police?

NoseringGirl · 13/02/2019 11:48

How does Sarah Brown get away with any of these things?!
It's ridiculous, SB has said some truly vile things over the years with seemingly no repercussions from the party.
