Apparently a woman spent 8 hours in a cell/being interviewed by the police for a "transphobic" Tweet along the lines of TWAW. Can't bring myself to buy the Mail tomorrow to check the details, but it may be taken up by other papers.

Just looked at the alleged lawyer’s Twitter account. Have all the tweets gone, or is it just not loading for some reason?

Iused2BanOptimist · 10/02/2019 22:32

Nick Monroe has helpfully provided a list of accounts to block. And a link to a blocker account.
Thinking about it.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/02/2019 22:37

Theres no point blocking police accounts. The police aren't monitoring twitter. It's the TRAs collecting their wee screenshots and then making vexatious complaints.

Transpeaked · 10/02/2019 22:39

@bubblegum

Speaking as a woman who not that long ago spent 24 hours in a police cell - I most certainly was not offered sanitary products nor were my rights read to me.

AnyOldPrion · 10/02/2019 22:44

I wonder whether identifying as a police officer is significantly different from identifying as a lawyer.

Transpeaked · 10/02/2019 22:49

Doubt it.

PimmsnLemonade · 10/02/2019 23:00

Boris Johnson has waded into this discussion - but unfortunately I've reached my limit of free Telegraph articles so can't read the full article:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/02/10/police-wasting-time-arresting-twitter-transphobes-could-tackling/

From the first part, I'm guessing that he thinks this is a waste of police time but is still pretending he believes TWAW and that anyone who doesn't is a transphobe?

RedDogsBeg · 10/02/2019 23:06

Iused2BanOptimist I remember SH boasting and gleeful that someone was being arrested because of a complaint SH had made, I am sure Hertfordshire was mentioned. I've seen a screenshot of the tweet on a thread on FWR, think the conversation was between SH and best buddy AH.

Not sure SH is feeling quite so smug and gleeful now, the backlash against SH and the Police has been huge.

littlbrowndog · 10/02/2019 23:07

Would boris date a transwoman if he believes they are women ?

ToeToToe · 10/02/2019 23:14

Pretty much, Pimms

Kate's tweets were antediluvian and offensive according to Boris.

But he goes on to say:

When they read the story of Kate Scottow, I believe most people would indeed be outraged, but not primarily at the content of her tweets. Of course we care for anyone whose feelings are bruised, but we aren’t focussing on that. We are thinking about the three police officers, the custody suite that was occupied for seven hours, the witness statements, the court proceedings – the considerable expenditure of public money on what would seem to be a silly (if nasty) Twitter spat; and we think about that peculiar abuse of manpower and police facilities when we learn that in the last couple of days the NHS has reported a 54 per cent increase in stabbings, and when there seems to be a new and tragic incident of knife crime reported virtually every day.

Which is, of course, what anyone with any sense would think, regardless of what they think of Kate's tweets.

WhatHaveYou · 10/02/2019 23:16

Would boris date a transwoman if he believes they are women ?

I don't have a Twitter account, I would like to ask him his definition of transphobe and ask why he hasn't publicly dated a transwomen?

mobile.twitter.com/borisjohnson

ToeToToe · 10/02/2019 23:17

Also this:

Are you really telling me that it is a sensible ordering of priorities to round up Twitter-borne transphobes and chuck them in the clink, when violence on the streets would seem to be getting out of control?

Even people that call women sticking up for their sex-based rights "transphobes" think this is madness.

WhatHaveYou · 10/02/2019 23:22

Would Boris walk into Tory Party conference with a ladyDick non binary transwomen?

HerFemaleness · 10/02/2019 23:27

Bojo's sister needs to have a word with him.

Outside of the twitter bubble, very few people believe TWAW. Almost nobody thinks humans can change sex, and most people disagree with giving the police the power to arrest and prosecute people for making an observation of a material reality.

littlbrowndog · 10/02/2019 23:32

Basically boris ain’t got a clue on the whole transphobe thing and parrots transphobe without a clue on th3 issue

he got the waste of police time stuff

But he doesn’t recognise that the ordinary ppl do care about this issue
And are totally pissed off by it
Not a fucking clue boris just repeating transphobe like a idiot

Carowiththegoodhair · 10/02/2019 23:35

117k shares. And Stephanie is very cross. waves

I bet if you asked Boris whether women have a penis he’d turn into a transphobe pretty sharpish.

WhatHaveYou · 10/02/2019 23:36

Has anyone got a link to the feminist funded poll, I am sure Tory voters were the most sceptical of ladydick owners being accepted as women. Maybe Tweet it to him and press him by asking if they are meet his definition of transphobes too?

Iused2BanOptimist · 10/02/2019 23:41

Stephanie will be even crosser if they look at Kiwi farms. ShockGrin

Lawsuit-loving ~identified~ lawyer loses leverage, later launches larger litigation

Was it this one? The original uploaded file seems to have expired but this is a Twitter thread about it

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/02/2019 00:04

Earlier in the thread some doubt was expressed that the woman at the centre of all this would not have been offered sanitary protection.

I saw a tweet where it was confirmed that she was read her rights and asked whether she needed sanitary supplies. She confirmed that she did but the items were never delivered to her.

InionEile · 11/02/2019 01:04

I won't hold my breath while I wait for stories of the legions of police officers sent to the doors of TERF haters and men's rights activists who tweet rape and death threats to women every hour of every day of the week...

Hmmm...

Nope. Still waiting.

As usual male-born privilege trumps everything. A male-born transwoman gets to have the entire police force at her command to protect her rights while women continue to face sex-based oppression every day and are expected to just live with it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 11/02/2019 01:29

Missing the point...
...but could I some women use this to their advantage? Bear with me here. I can't remember the last time I had 7 hours sleep or awake on my own time.

Say I someone wanted a bit of peace, quiet and down time, could I they piss off SH on the twitter and get it courtesy of the peelers? I will bring my own sanitary towels. I can't afford a spa day. And as the mum of a tween with ASD I am used to being asked ridiculous questions. I could totally do that for 7 hours down time the benefit of women's rights.

do you think the evident public interest will tempt the BBC and the Guardian to cover the story??

MrsBertBibby · 11/02/2019 06:59

Piece on Today at 6.50, FPFW and Helen Belcher. Mainly on prisons but this also mentioned.
