Will Posie be angry with us?

We have to admit, this did not go as planned.

Wtf?

StealthPolarBear · 01/02/2019 11:17

Lurking

SandyDrawsBadly · 01/02/2019 11:22

What on earth are you talking about? What didn’t go as planned?

The trip? The trip went as planned.

I should imagine she’s not going to be thrilled about the incessant personal attacks on her and her character that’s happened this week, as last time I checked, she’s human and isn’t some pantomime villain.

ChairmanMiaow123 · 01/02/2019 11:24

‘With us’?

Do you mean the women on Mumsnet, per se?
I think it’s very easy to get right up on that high, high horse and call Posie disingenuous and/or self serving, but i’m inclined to agree with Joani Walsh’s view on Posie’s recent endeavours.

And no large group has a Borg-like hive mind, so lots of people feel that Posie was out of order.

Just my tuppence-worth, of course.

CamillasTampon · 01/02/2019 11:26

Well I guess that's what I'm asking. I wonder whether she will feel some kind of way about doing all that work only for us to sit around squabblling about it back here at home. I mean, if it were me I would be annoyed. I think that's understandable.

OP posts:
ContentiousOne · 01/02/2019 11:28

I'd imagine Posie won't give a toss, and frankly, we should all be more like her in that.

Maybe if we were all a heck of a lot less nice about people who want to remove our sex-based rights, we'd not be in this mess.

Funnily enough, I wasn't a real Posie fan until all this kicked off, and I saw GC women quaking in their boots because she'd been 'mean' to a transwoman. It was truly pathetic. Posie won't mis-sex someone lobbying against women's rights ? So what!

I mean, c'mon. Seriously ? It's ridiculous. They were - at the very most - rude. So bloody what ?

I feel that if I ever sat down with Posie, she and I would find much to argue about. But boy oh boy, she's putting her money where her mouth is at the moment.

StealthPolarBear · 01/02/2019 11:29

Can someone tell me very briefly what she's done?

ContentiousOne · 01/02/2019 11:30

Ah, I just saw your clarification.

Yeah, I'd be well pissed off for a while to come home to all this nonsense. But she doesn't strike me as the kind of woman to stay down.

CamillasTampon · 01/02/2019 11:36

@ CO, and nor should she, I agree. It's such a distraction from all that we could have achieved .

I honestly don't see what Posie did wrong in the instance of talking to (well at Sarah) - they were, as pp said, at best rude.

I'm pretty sure I would disagree with Posie about most things but I fully agree with her on this issue.

GrumpyGran8 · 01/02/2019 11:39

???

RiverTam · 01/02/2019 11:39

why on earth should anyone care if she is or isn't? I really don't think putting Posie, or anyone else for that matter, on a pedestal in this matter, is a good thing to do.

We see you, poster with horrible username.

JellySlice · 01/02/2019 11:54

What's that Dworkin quote about feminism being about all women, even the women you disagree with?

That's how I feel about Posie, and that's clearly how Posie feels about feminism.

Posie gets off her arse and DOES something about it. How many of the "Ooo, you shouldn't talk to the nasty right-wingers" brigade actually take any action themselves?

One. Jean Hatchet, whom nobody could call a whiner.

Please, please prove me wrong.

We are women. We are not a hive mind. We are not an ideology.

merrymouse · 01/02/2019 11:54

She is entitled to her own opinion and feelings. However, as she isn't head of any official organisation, and MN posters certainly don't constitute an organisation, I don't know how that is relevant to 'us'.

ChewyLouie · 01/02/2019 12:01

Angry? Has someone on here pranged her car and not owned up?
The rest, she might be bemused by it at the most, but I expect she has better things to think about than people disagreeing with her (newsflash: adults disagree sometimes, even adult human females).

OvaHere · 01/02/2019 12:08

I expect she won't give a shit. That attitude is why she ruffles so many feathers in the first place.

TheRollingCrone · 01/02/2019 12:15

No - I don't thimble she'd care. From what I understand women in America have tried for years to be heard. They heard them the other day.

userschmoozer · 01/02/2019 12:21

I'm not happy with the forced teaming implied by this thread.
I'm not some sub that sits around waiting to be spanked, and I don't think Posie would be impressed by pp getting all hand wringy and angsty about what she thinks.

MsMcWoodle · 01/02/2019 12:22

Just saw this. I wonder who has complained about it:

dragoning · 01/02/2019 12:23

Huh? 'Us'? Who are you talking about? Women agree and disagree on stuff. Not news to Posie or to any other woman.

Posie's primary focus appears to be the safeguarding of girls. From men in women's spaces and from a pathway that leads to irreversible mutilation and permanent sterility.

I doubt she will care about whether other adults find her methods agreeable.

InSightMars · 01/02/2019 12:29

I don’t care if PP is angry with me, she’s not my boss or my mother or my spokesperson. She’s hobnobbing with a bunch of homophobic, misogynistic, religious wingnuts who are a far worse threat to women’s rights and with more political wherewithal to effect devastating rollbacks to those rights than the TRAs. You’re known by the company you keep. Oh, we have common cause on trans issues? You don’t employ a tiger to protect your sheep from the wolf.

Should also add that the cynic in me smells an opportunity to sell a lot of ‘adult human female’ t shirts. The fact that PP’s new friends will accessorize these with MAGA hats should give some here pause. She can doorstep who she likes, how she likes and where she likes but don’t pretend she’s doing me or any of us any favours when she’s doing the opposite.

NotTerfNorCis · 01/02/2019 12:29

I'm genuinely bewildered by the reaction to this.

Look at some of the things TRAs have done:

Beaten up a woman trying to attend a feminist meeting.

Donned balaclavas and blocked the stairs at another feminist meeting.

Paraded in shirts with the slogan I Punch Terfs, soaked in mock blood. Paraded with baseball bats, some wrapped in barbed wire, saying they will use them against 'terfs'.

Threatenef women online; saying they want to put GC feminists 'in the morgue'.

Tried to hound academics out of their jobs. Urinating on an academic's door.

Look at what Posie did:

Talked to some people with conservative views.

Held a brief public protest against a powerful individual, during which no one was threatened, obstructed or attacked.

Yet Posie gets the global condemnation. It really shows where the power lies.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 01/02/2019 12:40

Oh dont be silly

Honestly

I doubt she cares about what a bunch of randoms think

I know I don't
