The thread I wrote about attending Posie Parker's panel on gender identity and social media has attracted a lot of attention, and I thought it might be good to establish more of a dialogue. Ask me anything!

Also, to get this one out of the way: my babysitting rates are £15/hr, plus flights, and I'll provide a clean CRB check 😂

I honestly didn't pick up on that. There were a lot of questions asked again and again which Liz ignored. But if there was anything about Liz being 'over-the-top femme', I didn't see it and still can't.

There wasn't. Glitch just wishes there was. Glitch would have enjoyed a conversation about how "femme/passing" they are far more than the pesky questions about definitions and actual female oppression and all that guff.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 22:39

Think you're right on the money there, Luggs.

sackrifice · 30/01/2019 22:39

I learnt something.

'gender euphoria'

So much said in so few words.

glitchliz · 30/01/2019 22:40

*Liz, here my honest to God take.

Your idea of a woman is what a man imagines. Which, turns out to be stereotypes. Which is understandable.

Feminists, more than anyone, understand what it's like to be treated as a sexist bloke who likes a bit of banter, dirty jokes and let's all go and watch the fucking rugby.

And how society sometimes treats women. High heels, eyebrows on fleek, looking gawj and rocking it sister.*

Purplewarrior*actuallythatmightbewrong

I have a PTA meeting this week, am going to take a bat and see how it helps me fightmy corner over a snaggle about a school event. A bat. I dont know why I didnt think of it before.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:42

In my knickers with a bat feeling empowered. Going to be brilliant.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 22:43

Paint it in some attractive colours, Lisa, it's much more effective.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 30/01/2019 22:44

A few pages back (end of page 31) by lisamuggeridge:

A bat. A bloody bat. A fucking bat in a conversation about safeguarding and protection from abuse and violence? You take that at face fucking value, assess if there is any insight into it and you take that at face value. You cant debate that. And yet this is what we are being asked to do.

This.

HamiltonCork · 30/01/2019 22:44

Paint pink and then it’s a femme baseball bat 🙄

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:44

I could do it in the school house colours but wrap it in wire.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 22:45

Some good ideas for decorating it in a feminine way here:

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:45

They are going to e so happy I agreed to do the PTA this year. This is a true evolution in PTA politics. Empowered.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:46

I might not go in my knickers, cos its snowing.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:48

THose pictures are very inspiring. I dont have a big curved knife but I reckon the breadknife or one of the big chopping knves will do the job. Oh wait no that would be criminal. And this is a meeting ultimately about children...yeah best stick to a bat..a fucking bat.

AnneHutchinson · 30/01/2019 22:48

Liz

since you've returned, can you answer my question?

Will the people formerly known as men allow the people formerly known as women to create new DV refuges and organise entirely new sporting organisations if we cede the word "women" to you as well as women's refuges and sporting organisations and instead establish these new refuges and organisations for people now known as Wombles?

You did say, after all, that gay males can organise for themselves. Can Wombles ie members of that class of people formerly known as women who are born with the capacity to create ova and gestate young also organise anything for themselves? Or not?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/01/2019 22:48

the bat of empowerment only works if you've got yer keks out

sorry Lisa, that's just the way it is

sackrifice · 30/01/2019 22:50

Y'all need some ready brek glow Lisa, that'll sort ya.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:50

''the bat of empowerment only works if you've got yer keks out

sorry Lisa, that's just the way it is''

It'll have to wait till the next one then. When its a bit warmer.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 22:50

Slacktivist.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/01/2019 22:53

The questions about the bats, Liz. Answer them.

I think conceding 'women' is actually quite a powerful, if temporary, option.

Ok then, we're Wombles.

LangCleg · 30/01/2019 22:55

Having now read the thread, I am glad I did not contribute a great deal.

Can we PLEASE talk about Weetabix now?

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 22:55

Not if the yellow fruit are involved.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/01/2019 22:55

glitchliz So one post pointing out that you feeling 'euphoric' at playing a female gender role shows that you've bought into harmful stereotypes about women proves the whole thread was about you being 'over-femme'?
