Do the rights and safety of little girls in Scotland matter so little to the judiciary? This defies belief:

Paedophilia is rampant in our society. I am utterly convinced of it - especially amongst those in power - and they protect each other.

This!

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/01/2019 08:39

Like others, I just don’t understand this at all

That brave little girl. All that extra trauma for nothing. How has this happened?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/01/2019 08:43

this should be in AIBU really. lots of people have FWR hidden, but everyone should know about this

boatyardblues · 29/01/2019 08:43

In 4 years this man will be a dentist. Sedating women and children. How can it be legal not to say why he has been let off?

Quite. Can his dental school or the GDC even undertake fitness to practise proceedings if there’s no conviction? I’m horrified at the thought of this man in practise, with ready access to sedating drugs and victims. Two years’ sustained abuse shows a calculated predator at work. I’m disgusted.

OhHolyJesus · 29/01/2019 08:43

I can not believe this. That poor child went through all of that. The whole family.

This boys photo should be up around towns to say beware. I don't care what kind of background or future he has ahead of him.

How can this be the law of the land? Can they not appeal further and go back to court? How can they not be told why?

Disgusting.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/01/2019 08:44

I’m afraid I believe this too.

feministfairy · 29/01/2019 08:47

You're right - this does need as much publicity as possible. I'll post this on AIBU (unless someone else has already done this).

I hate this ‘mustn’t spoil his bright future’ thing.

HE has spoiled his future. Spoiling your future is a DETERRENT. Work hard at school, or you won’t get the grades you need to do what you want. Don’t harm other people, because you’ll get a criminal record that will bar you from many professions.

ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUCKING DETERRENT.

If it’s not, then there are no consequences for people’s actions. And since only a proportion of the population seem able to rely on an internal moral compass, a deterrent aspect is vital.

That poor child. The thought that he will be in a position to sedate children in a few years is horrific. Surely the governing dental body will need to know?

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2019 08:50

Well I'm guessing the parents can do what they like to him as it's clearly a lawless society.
The only possible reason I can think of for this would be something like he is terminally ill (discovered near the end of trial) and has days to live, would that lead to this scenario?

ImPreCis · 29/01/2019 08:59

This just seems like a stitch up. The police video ‘fails’. The victim has to go through hours of cross examination (I suspect they were hoping family would say no at this point). He is found guilty but not even put on SOR. No one can see the report to explain why.

A good researcher should look at the family background of this abuser. There must be reasons for this.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 29/01/2019 09:01

They found him guilty. Guilty.

But treated him like he's not guilty. But I can't understand any circumstances that allow for this.

RJnomore1 · 29/01/2019 09:05

I think this is worth a personal letter to nicola sturgeon.

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2019 09:05

There must be something the family can do.
Well clearly they can take the law into their own hands without fear of reprisals
(not serious just bitter)

Datun · 29/01/2019 09:08

Paedophilia is rampant in our society. I am utterly convinced of it - especially amongst those in power - and they protect each other.

But how many people are being protected by this one man? It must be loads.

And yes, he will be sedating women and children. This is horrific.

Danaquestionseverything · 29/01/2019 09:10

Pull every tooth out one by one. No anaesthetic, still would not come even close to what this creep deserves

The family cannot appeal?! Why?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 29/01/2019 09:17

I mean that’s what it says in the article.

Danaquestionseverything · 29/01/2019 09:20

Yes it is rampant and yes the elite protect each other. An heir of DuPont family was found guilty of raping his own daughter (3 iirc). No prison time.

Datun · 29/01/2019 09:20

Where's @MargueritaPink ?

Maybe she'll have a clue what this is all about, or how it could happen.

endofthelinefinally · 29/01/2019 09:20

He has information about other paedophiles. Probably in the upper echelons of church, politics, police, judiciary, establishment.
That is the only reason IMO.
Obviously I can't prove that but it seems logical to me.
It is how society works.

ElonMask · 29/01/2019 09:22

Outrageous and infuriating. Glad it will be appealed and time to get MSPs involved. Fucking disgrace.

HubrisComicGhoul · 29/01/2019 09:23

That poor child. Goes through all of that, gets a guilty verdict and still doesn’t get justice.

Please explain why she went through all that?

I will never recommend that anybody reports a rape or sexual assault. What is the point of going through all of that, retraumatising yourself, for what?

Society hates women and girls.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 09:24

So the Scottish government really wants to come across as progressive, right? If so maybe encouraging the legal system to take child sexual abuse just a teensy bit more seriously might be a good plan.

It's the comments making excuses for the man because he was a teenager when it happened that really make me despair. What exactly does a male human have to do for people to admit he's a predator and a danger to others, if raping a small child isn't enough?

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2019 09:25

Yes he's covering up. That's the obvious conclusion. Nothing has changed since Saville
