I should be ignoring this, and making the tea..... Liz is a TRA and her twitter storytime is as follows: yesterday, she says she infiltrated Posie's session, and gives a twitter read-out - an account which contains absolutely no substantive information at all. There follows innumerable comments, presumably from her woke following, asking "y' alright hun?" and telling her how stunning and brave she was to avoid capture in the lion's den of horrible transphobic bigots.

They seem to have overlooked the fact that the whole thing was broadcast live on Facebook, and therefore she could have listened to it from the comfort of her sofa and avoided what her followers tell her could have been "confrontational". By all accounts she sat there saying nothing - except to thank Venice Allan for handing over some stickers, which is what you do when you're "under cover" I guess? We know she did this, because she helpfully provides a photo of the stickers - sort of trophy stickers, I presume.

Then back in the safety of her own twitter feed, she dramatically declares "I am safe" - almost as if to imply she only managed to escape catastrophic injury by the skin of her teeth. Then, obviously traumatised by her day with the Haters, she posts a picture of herself holding a bat. The sort TRAs encase in barbed wire Confused

The most worrying thing about it all for me that is, is she looks kind of normal.. like the sort of person I might hire as a babysitter. I will never go out again. Right... I must peel some spuds....

Absolutely glitter

Wouldn't have dreamt that it would be taken that way or I wouldn't have written it

But if someone thinks its out of order they should definitely report Smile and i know you didnt report this one...it really wouldn't be a problem if you had

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 29/01/2019 22:16

their moderations are completely random and inconsistent

Oh god yes

Ive seen deletions that ive thought WTF

But i can see why i was deleted following the report

I've reported posts in the past that could be read as offensive, even when I know (or rather, strongly suspect, based on previous posting history) that they aren't intended that way, because we know that we are being watched and certain people leap on anything that looks slightly dodgy and post screen shots all round the internet as proof that we are all nasty bigots

It's really interesting how this discussion makes people feel unsafe. On one hand women may feel unsafe because of the abuse, violence and intimidation that's been directed at those who've stuck their heads above the parapet.

Whereas trans people seem to feel unsafe because of, what? Uncomfortable truths? I can see why to be honest. Their view of reality appears to be based on somewhat shaky foundations and to see those foundations being eroded must be a very unpleasant experience.

I witnessed an interesting convo on r/MtF discussing r/gendercritial and r/detrans. They opened the post with the usual "it's a horrible place - transphobic, hate group, dehumanising" etc. but in the comments went into more detail about what specifically made them feel uncomfortable in r/gendercritical and it was that the gender critical logic made sense and made them question themselves...

The disgusting comments on Lisa’s thread, directed at her, some general directed at everyone else, many of those were permitted to stand and the users harassing her are not banned.

If the comments directed at Lisa were directed at a trans person, the users would have been banned and the thread pulled as 'not in the spirit'.

It really is quite interesting just how much shit women are expected to take as a matter of course.

sackrifice yup exactly. Everyone likes to thank MNHQ for ‘allowing us to speak’ but they do so with a whole lot of conditions, and sometimes it just doesn’t feel that different to Facebook.
