I should be ignoring this, and making the tea..... Liz is a TRA and her twitter storytime is as follows: yesterday, she says she infiltrated Posie's session, and gives a twitter read-out - an account which contains absolutely no substantive information at all. There follows innumerable comments, presumably from her woke following, asking "y' alright hun?" and telling her how stunning and brave she was to avoid capture in the lion's den of horrible transphobic bigots.

They seem to have overlooked the fact that the whole thing was broadcast live on Facebook, and therefore she could have listened to it from the comfort of her sofa and avoided what her followers tell her could have been "confrontational". By all accounts she sat there saying nothing - except to thank Venice Allan for handing over some stickers, which is what you do when you're "under cover" I guess? We know she did this, because she helpfully provides a photo of the stickers - sort of trophy stickers, I presume.

Then back in the safety of her own twitter feed, she dramatically declares "I am safe" - almost as if to imply she only managed to escape catastrophic injury by the skin of her teeth. Then, obviously traumatised by her day with the Haters, she posts a picture of herself holding a bat. The sort TRAs encase in barbed wire Confused

The most worrying thing about it all for me that is, is she looks kind of normal.. like the sort of person I might hire as a babysitter. I will never go out again. Right... I must peel some spuds....

I think it’s important to note that at the last Dyke March in San Francisco, where the Degenderettes originated these bats and carried them while wearing t-shirts with mock blood on them, lesbians WERE roughed up by transactivists tearing their signs from their hands and tripping one women to the ground.

It isn’t just a threat of violence. It’s actual assault taking place and, by the way, not repudiated by a single LGBT organisation in the US.

NotTerfNorCis · 28/01/2019 23:15

MRAs are also keen on threats of violence, and the women can be just as bad. I remember Janet Bloomfield promising to murder or disable any feminist who came to her door, using a crossbow. Yet another TRA/MRA parallel. Strange how feminists don't talk the same way...

I sometimes wonder why women haven't taken up arms. Tazers in baby girls' Bounty packs?

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2019 23:20

Yeps Anne
That person promoting violence with that baseball bat

NotMeOhNo · 29/01/2019 00:44

Oooh ooh oooooh!
My first sighting ever of the term "woke" used unironically by a "woke" person!

Liz refers to themself as a transwoman in the tweet thread.

There’s a thesis begging to be written on the use of language that allows someone to claims feeling threatened in a meeting of polite women, then go home and take a picture of themselves with a weapon specifically for Harming said women, then positioning themselves as a threatened victim.

teawamutu · 29/01/2019 08:18

Still grinning at the people urging them to post footage online and shame the nasty terfs when the nasty terfs have already done itGrin

Coulda stayed home with your pants and your bat, luv.

Yes, this, this this!

And then saying... why doesn't this person look a suitable babysitter for your kids... is it cos they are a transwoman..... err...nooo..... not really Grin

Watch it, Woke, I got deleted for suggesting that maybe bigotry isn't the reason mums might not want to hire this charming individual as their babysitter. Because apparently it's Abandon All Common Sense week. Or possibly year.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/01/2019 10:19

I’d deffo say it’s the pants pic and baseball bat. It’s not exactly saying ‘I love gymnastics and ball games - I’ll be a great nanny for your kids!’ Is it?

GrumpyGran8 · 29/01/2019 10:57

The knickers. I just can't get over the knickers. Two pairs, one over the other. Why is Liz wearing two pairs of knickers? WHY? Confused

nauticant · 29/01/2019 12:01

And now MNHQ have deleted that thread hiding away the bad faith of that OP and their nonsensical explanations, for example:

The message I was trying to send was: the bats exist, they're for sale, this is what they look like. In the photo, I'm not brandishing it: I'm just holding it out for people to see. As for being in my pants, that happens to have been what I was wearing, and I'm not particularly bothered by that.

As for the violence it represents, symbols have different meanings to different groups. The bat, to trans people (especially vulnerable trans women), it represents empowerment. I don't advocate violence or threats.

pancaketosser · 29/01/2019 12:18

It's a shame that thread got deleted, despite the many, many requests from MNers to keep it open.

Batteriesallgone · 29/01/2019 12:32

Yeah I don’t understand why that thread got deleted

Batteriesallgone · 29/01/2019 12:36

I didn’t understand the not in good faith thing - if the person is who they say they are, then regardless of unpalatable opinions, the statement ‘I am X, AMA’ is in good faith. Surely?

I mean, I can see how you might say the thread is a trap, but only if you genuinely think people will be offensive straight off the bat (sorry, couldn’t refuse) rather than just saying ‘please explain’ etc etc like most posts on that thread did.

I’m confused by the whole thing

Gonzales27 · 29/01/2019 12:46

Me too. There was a chance that a reasonable conversation could have happened.

Anyone else emailing HQ about that ban?
I think it was unfair.

The knickers. I just can't get over the knickers. Two pairs, one over the other. Why is Liz wearing two pairs of knickers? WHY?

Maybe she's a keen golfer and is worried about getting a hole in one.

TinyRick · 29/01/2019 12:57

Considering this is their position, I really don't think the thread would have got that far along with actual answers from them.

But it should have stayed and showed that.

Silencing is never the answer, it doesn't work.
