What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

Julie just looked so exasperated. Her body language was one long sigh. Can you imagine how annoying it must be having to sit there and listen to that faux fragile shit in real life?

MsMcWoodle · 29/01/2019 15:07

Brings to mind Julie's self possession in the Bristol stairwell with the masked thugs.

Magdalen

I hope she is well
I miss her

The tactics are so familiar - when a woman/women say no, disordered men cry wolf, do a DARVO, then blame the individual woman, by innuendo and character smears, for the man's violence, boundary-breaking and illegal entitlement

womanformallyknownaswoman · 29/01/2019 15:14

Fae's deliberate conflation of women rights and Trump is curious and telling. The character smear attempts at Posie and downright lies are very familiar:

  • helping police with their enquiries
  • this week in the United States discussing tactics with some of the most extreme anti-feminist, anti-LGBT elements now active in US politics.
  • These are the people behind US President Donald Trump’s ban on trans people serving in the military.
  • The same people who have recently been suggesting to Trump that the ban on active service now be extended to women.
  • not a penny of the money raised from their sale will go to a women’s cause. Rather, it will go back to the campaign organiser.
  • This campaign has been designed, from the outset, to strip the rights of trans and LGBT individuals.

All of that is not factual and is libellous

Datun · 29/01/2019 15:15

It would kill me. Knowing Fae's proclivities, and knowing that the knitting thing is a typical characteristic of AGP.

You would need iron self control. In fact I would probably have to say something.

What would actually happen if you did that? If you said, well Jane, since you campaign for extreme porn, and lowering the age of participants I think...blah blah.

What would happen? Fae is totally upfront about it. In terms of it's all over the Internet.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 15:18

If there's anyone with the backbone to do it then it would be Julie. Someone needs to start calling the TRAs who have a long and documented history of unsavory opinions about sexuality out on how ridiculous their personas are.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 15:21

So, Politely and Bubonic. What do you think of the non-factual and defamatory claims made by the OP...?

womanformallyknownaswoman · 29/01/2019 15:22

Oh and if that doesn't work we'll make vexatious complaints and use dirty tactics to abuse the law and legal processes to abuse women by proxy.

And if that doesn't work, we'll threaten and intimidate either directly or by using others like the police to abuse by proxy.....for example by not challenging vexatious complaints using objective criteria, or by the police withholding intervention as they did at Bristol

Men protect men - we know that. And bullies will always harass, intimidate and coerce those weaker and more vulnerable than themselves, for example, using children as experimental human guinea pigs for untried and tested drugs and surgical procedures plus stalking and harassing women.

So women are saying NO and look what happens -

littlbrowndog · 29/01/2019 15:24

Julie is cool though
But was funny with Fae. I would off blown my top

Great post Lisa.

I stand firm with all those who wish to keep women's rights firmly at the forefront of society. No ifs and no buts.

Melroses · 29/01/2019 15:27

The next video on you tube made me laugh too - it is all the larger than life harrumphing. Julie is very patient.

ToeToToe · 29/01/2019 15:27

Julie remains incredibly good-humoured about the whole thing - despite being continuously targeted for about the last 12+ years. I'm in awe of her resilience.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 29/01/2019 15:28

It's funny, isn't it? I would have thought that anyone who supports this movement would let us have a celebratory thread

Ah but they can't let women celebrate can they - cos they enjoy spoiling things - they get off at others' distress and sh*** on women's parades and spaces

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 15:29

Love her to bits! Julie I mean. Fae comes across even more poorly than useful when sitting next to her.

MsMcWoodle · 29/01/2019 15:30

I can only presume that people would be no platformed by TV if they brought up the unsavoury details.
When I went to my mp I made sure she knew. And brought pictures.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 29/01/2019 15:31

One of my grandfathers was a prize winning knitter.

What prizes for what items Errol?

Nightwitch · 29/01/2019 15:32

Anybody here ever heard of Peter Anthony Nolan? An MRA so utterly batshit even other mras think he goes too far.

Not sure what made me remember him..

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 15:34

Women! You are derailing the thread! Go and start another thread if you want to talk about Bindel and Berns!

No, no hypocrisy here. Move along.

Dragon3 · 29/01/2019 15:34

I don't know enough about Julie Bindel. She seems to have excellent self control.

I'm always struck by the fact that no woman would be taken seriously if they knitted during TV interviews. It is so clearly performative.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 15:34

It's a mystery to me too, Nightwitch. What could possibly have reminded you of his obsessive behavior in this thread?

Anyone unfamiliar should look him up, his attempt to represent himself in court was the best comedy of the decade.
