What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

Why don't you take your disagreements off this thread?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/01/2019 13:35

Fight women, fight!

Why won’t you fight damn you?

MsMcWoodle · 29/01/2019 13:35

Adrian? Are you there?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/01/2019 13:35

This is Lisa's description of Karen Ingala-Smith, addressed to Karen, there online for all to see

I still fail to see what relevance that has to the OP which was all.about celebrating how much women have achieved so far Hmm

Just because someone is not perfect, or even far from perfect, in some areas does not somehow mean that nothing that person says or does is of value.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/01/2019 13:36

I’m about to buy a standing for women tote bag. Gonna use it to carry my lunch to work

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 13:39

Who needs Adrian when you have Lisa, MsMcWoodle? And Jean.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 13:40

You do that, BernardBlacksWineIcelolly. And remember what the OP has done to try to tear down the woman who created it for all of you while you're doing it.

R0wantrees · 29/01/2019 13:42

Coming on to MN crowing victory that fewer people than anticipated p t-shirts on statues because they were terrified of guilt by association and being called a racist and MNHQ has to fiddle with thread titles so they don’t get confused with the Judean People’s Front, seems hollow

This is a misrepresentation of what happened with the ReSisters FWR thread.

OP of the thread wrote:

Doobigetta Mon 28-Jan-19 16:35:43
Just to be clear (and I wasn’t intending to get drawn into this but I wouldn’t want Posie to think I don’t appreciate her efforts) I asked MNHQ to change the title because I felt, and other people I conferred with agreed, that it was confusing. SFW obviously supplied the tshirts, but they did not plan the action so it would be inaccurate and misleading to leave the implication that they did in place. SFW and the ReSisters are separate organisations. Posie has been very clear that she speaks for nobody but herself. I started this thread because I think the work done last night was brilliant, and should be shared. I don’t actually speak for anybody but myself either. I think the ReSisters, SFW and Posie Parker and Jean Hatchet are all amazing. I think Lisa Muggeridge is too. And I think it’s educational for the TRAs to know that Women are not a Borg collective with A Leader. But going on about our differences when we could be celebrating our successes is self-defeating, imo. Not to mention fitting neatly into the stereotypes it would be nice to leave behind."

Why don't you take your disagreement off this thread

Because this thread is predominantly a disagreement about the OPs claim to brilliance.

The majority of the thread is about this.

The majority of the OPs comments are about the disagreement. This is what the thread is about.

Start another one yourself.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2019 13:48

I tried to find the backstory on LM and KIS, haven't yet - but did find some correspondence between them dated March 2018 which suggests they have reached some sort of mutual understanding. It was the top hit on my search so anyone who CBA can easily find it.

Small selective quotes:
KIS 'Your work sounds really important because it puts into the academic sphere what many of us see on the ground. I bloody hope you succeed, but like you probably suspect yourself, i don't think many will want to listen.'

LM: ' it is vital that you and your peers do what you are doing now. You had NO reason to know why I was reacting like that mostlky the treatment I received was a reflex from a party with a dead legacy identity which is why I continued. If I can ever be any help do not hesitate to ask. Really.'

There's a thing. Women who've been seriously at odds cooperating.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 13:48

Noone's asking anyone to fight. I'm asking you to explain how you can support someone who is doing a lot of damage to the women you need while claiming their glory in this very thread. This thread could be killed stone dead in terms of the voices you don't like and want silenced if any one of you was able to say she doesn't do that. You can't. So all you can do instead is freeze out the ones highlighting your hypocrisy by ganging up on them and playing silly games like schoolgirls. Therefore, she DOES do that. And you are all complicit. You know, that old cliche about evil flourishing while good men do nothing... Would you maintain this position if any one of the women she's sought to tear down was in here asking you to communicate in real life and explain how you can support someone claiming their glory while simultaneously trying to destroy their reputations? Would you defend Lisa to Smith's face - after what Bubonic has just posted? Those comments are appalling.

StarsAndWater · 29/01/2019 13:49

Meh. Can't be bothered with all the foot stomping excommunication nonsense.

I sure as hell dont agree with all you vipers on everything Grin, but I am bloody grateful to every woman who has put her head above the parapet and done something to change the narrative on this particular issue.
So thank you all. Here's to a fabulously feministy 2019 for all women Wine

MsMcWoodle · 29/01/2019 13:49

It's not though Bubonic. It was us all enjoying some success and some brilliant work.
Gee - I love Lisa and Jean's work. Adrian- not so much.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/01/2019 13:49

Because this thread is predominantly a disagreement about the OPs claim to brilliance.

Eh? Have you read the OP? The word "I" is not used once. The OP, and this thread, is celebrating the achievements of all women, not blowing her own trumpet Confused.

We do not want to get involved. Is that clear enough?
Subject of the thread - What we did was brilliant. Is brilliant.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2019 13:56

Would you defend Lisa to Smith's face

No... as far as I can see, they appear to have reached detente without need for outside intervention. No need to carry on shitstirring.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 13:58

I don't think having to contact the police can fit within the parameters of 'detente,' do you, ErrolTheDragon? That's a bit like saying a woman on a Wednesday is a man.

Bubonicpanic · 29/01/2019 14:01

There is about half a page of cheering before the argument starts.

The OP uses we, she is including herself in the we. The posters pointing out that Lisa had posted some seriously nasty stuff about people are quite reasonably questioning we and brilliance in that context.

It's not that difficult.

Oxytocindeficient · 29/01/2019 14:01

We do not want to get involved. Is that clear enough?
Subject of the thread - What we did was brilliant. Is brilliant.

Melroses · 29/01/2019 14:01

Sorry, who is 'Smith'? I am losing the plot here.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 14:02

Don't get involved, then, MsMcWhoodle. But you can't stop me and Bubonic and others on here voicing our opinions on the hypocrisy of the post. That is entirely on-thread. What 'we' did was not brilliant - Bubonic has made the point perfectly that there is nothing brilliant about viciously tearing another woman apart. What 'they' are doing is. And we won't have much of a 'they' left if the OP and Ms Hatchet continue and with the support they're getting from the likes of people on here.

MsMcWoodle · 29/01/2019 14:02

Seriously, you guys are obsessive and bullying. Get a grip.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 14:03

What loads of women did was brilliant. What OP did, the work that she is so very proud of, is enlightening.
