What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

Is a strange thing to only be able to anything through the prism of one identity. Pluralism and major shifts and majorly effective action from many corners and the strength of it is that its a diverse group of women. Some of whom dont like each other. I am not remotely ever going to edit my reflections to suit another, and the tribe mentality you wish for isnt present here. Sorry. Its why we won so easily and will continue to do so.

And then to add to the horror a misreading leads to someone suggesting adding avocado to Weetabix, because the banana just wasn't disgusting enough. We definitely needed the mental image of mushy green wheat sludge.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 09:13

The idea it's a group of 100 or so "rad fems" is still there

My stepmother is the least feminist woman I've ever known, and even she is fired up about this stuff now. There's momentum building for sure.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 09:14

WTAF? ''And then to add to the horror a misreading leads to someone suggesting adding avocado to Weetabix, because the banana just wasn't disgusting enough. We definitely needed the mental image of mushy green wheat sludge.''

I cant even begin here..avocado and weetabix. I lived in Hebden Bridge and I never heard anything like..that makes weetabix ice cream seem sane.

''Still here. Marvelling at your output. Up til 3am then 4 blogposts attempting to reposition yourself. That’s some going before 9am''

I get up at 6, and what position am I trying to leave or establish with blog posts about brexit? Dude, you have some major shit going on.

I believe this was the third round of it that I've witnessed.

My third round. So far, I've had three days of being called Hitler for refusing to excommunicate Posie, a day of being called equally obnoxious names for refusing to excommunicate Jean, and a day of being called yet more names for refusing to excommunicate Lisa.

I see no difference between any of the name callers: all denigrated Mumsnet in toto because women here didn't ask how high when told to jump, all full of projection. I quite enjoyed the overt sexism in this part though. Oblivious, some people.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 09:20

So apparently we're not allowed to talk to anyone, even if the people in question are fighting with each other! That seems reasonable.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/01/2019 09:23

yes. the person demanding that we demonise lisa and / or jean (i got a bit confused tbh) and idolise posie seems to have missed the fact that at the weekend some numpty was here demanding we jetison posie. they got short shrift too

the 'no woman gets thrown under a bus' policy extends to all. and all benefit

but i guess that doesn't provide enough drama

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 09:23

I got to be honest, this is not round one, two, or three for me...lol

The worst news is: I got up late and the selfish fuckwits who live with me had eaten the last of the bread before they fucked off to work. So you know what's for breakfast...

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 09:27

Please tell me you're not adding avocado to it.

Danaquestionseverything · 29/01/2019 09:27

Yeah you’re facing more rounds than a heavy weight champion Lisa. You deserve a bloody medal Star so I’ll give you this instead.

littlbrowndog · 29/01/2019 09:28

Beans ?
Eggs ?

LangCleg · 29/01/2019 09:28

Please tell me you're not adding avocado to it.

I haven't even got a banana. That's how selfish my domestic fuckwits can be.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 09:29

They're saving you from yourself.

Halo
LangCleg · 29/01/2019 09:29

Brown sugar will replace the banana.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 09:30

I do notr fucking understand avocado. At all. I have tried and tried and I do not get it. I blame hippies.

Danaquestionseverything · 29/01/2019 09:31

Ahaha yay Lang. No offence but are you sure you’re not Aussie? Weetbix is our national cereal (practically) have a check of YouTube for the ads, often featuring bananas. You’ll love it.

🎶 Aussie kids are Weetbix kids🎶

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/01/2019 09:40

I do notr fucking understand avocado.

I'm sorry Lisa but you have just crossed the line Shock. How can I possibly have respect for any of your opinions when you denigrate avocado so cruelly Sad

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 09:44

Its bland green smush. Its just smush. Its just soggy green smush and it makes everything soggy and doesnt taste of anything. i am open to being convinced but I am sure that avocado and the craze for it was a sign ofthe same thing Brexit indicated. I dont believe anyone genuinely likes it. All pretending.

I just don't understand any of it.

I don't understand WBH, I don't understand why I drank Buckfast Tonic Wine when I was a teenager and I don't understand why frothers think this is about individuals and factions and taking sides.

This is the biggest assault on the rights of women and girls that I've seen in my 50 years on this planet and it's fantastic to see so many women standing up and fighting against it.

That's bigger and more important than anything else.

ssd · 29/01/2019 09:45

I'm late to the party, can anyone explain to me what the op is talking about? What did we do?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2019 09:48

What did we do?

Woke up, saw what was happening and said 'No', in a nutshell.

ssd · 29/01/2019 10:01

Errol, thanks for that but I.m no further forward, can you explain any further, what was happening?

ToeToToe · 29/01/2019 10:03

My third round. So far, I've had three days of being called Hitler for refusing to excommunicate Posie, a day of being called equally obnoxious names for refusing to excommunicate Jean, and a day of being called yet more names for refusing to excommunicate Lisa.

Pretty much my experience too. It won't work.
