What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

Oh - a thread. By Lisa.

'Geee' and 'Politely'

Hats off sisters, you have stood your ground, not given up for the women that have been harmed by the OP, who are afraid to speak up, because of a genuine fear. A real fear..

And you know what else is really worryino? That the women on these boards, apologies, 'regulars' refuse to engage with you both on matters you've both raised. Then the OP blogs during this on Joani Walsh. And the regulars still gloss over it.

I love potato dauphinoise which is a delight to my working class palet of pie and peas.

Coyoacan · 29/01/2019 04:24

One of their tactics seems to be to concentrate on one person at a time and try to pick them off.

Our two "guests" tonight stopped even trying to pretend they are part of this movement, creeps that they are.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
— Mahatma Gandhi

Clearly a corner has been turned.

FlyingOink · 29/01/2019 05:45

Someone can be brave, brilliant and amazing and also be rude, selfish and impatient. Someone can be strong, innovative and creative, while also being unreliable, thoughtless and paranoid.

Instead of expecting the world of the women we admire, and feeling betrayed when they reveal their flawed humanity, we should admire the good stuff, recognise the not-so-good stuff and understand that everyone has feet of clay.

This is true but it doesn't stop people being disappointed each time. And I can appreciate women's hard limits whilst acknowledging the missed opportunities that might never present themselves again.

I think if I was PP I'd be feeling very toughened by now. I'm just grateful she keeps going. There's a time and a place to disagree on tactics, and halfway through the operation is not it.

So although the angry posters have a point, I can also see why the wagons have been circled.

HamiltonCork · 29/01/2019 06:16

You can almost smell the desperation coming from them.

Nice try, but we will not be divided and conquered.

HashtagLurky · 29/01/2019 06:24

Thanks to reading this thread, I've got up an hour early to eat weetabix with hot milk and muscavado sugar. Yum. Plus - those statues are amazing. Definitely want a calendar for next year.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 07:41

Clearly a corner has been turned.

Yup. And while what went on on this threadmay seem like a good strategy to get into female bathrooms, I think its blown.

I misread that as avocado

Datun · 29/01/2019 07:53

Thanks for the heads up, Datun. All now screengrabbed for posterity.

Dear lord. And you call this a playground.

HashtagLurky · 29/01/2019 08:00

Yikes! That's up there with banana and weeties. Just no.

WeRiseUp · 29/01/2019 08:19

I've noticed that these fuckers seem to target women (& a couple of men) who speak out in their real names and then try to dig up dirt to shame them, try to make them feel exposed and unsupported, then keep needling and needling to try to make them feel under seige until they lash out against their own allies.

Posie has been under pretty extraordinary pressure with that fucking doxxing website and police harassment and I am actually in awe of how she won't be beaten - she is so defiant! I think some credit has to go to Mr Posie Parker, because I bet she has some rock solid support at home which makes all the difference.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 29/01/2019 08:21

That was quite a shift our visitors put in last night.

Shame it's not had their desired effect.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/01/2019 08:34

Women! Turn on each other!

And then the exhausting fury when we decline

MsMcWoodle · 29/01/2019 08:44

Wow. Some posters on this thread have extremely disturbing obsessions that they should probably have looked into. Say what you like about Twitter, but this would definitely been seen as 'targeted harassment' there. Weetabix for God's sake! Bad enough the normal way, but as ice cream? Disgusting. There are other breakfast cereals out there. Have you guys been in a cave for the last 30 years?

feministfairy · 29/01/2019 08:46

The tantrums!

You arrive on Mumsnet with an obvious agenda that involves targeting women in the public eye - and when the women on here refused to get involved with your poison - the drama, the hissy fits, the accusations.

They really expected everyone to join in. Confused

Fortunately the real life action has been so successful over the weekend - so much positive media coverage.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/01/2019 08:50

They really expected everyone to join in.

That's because they think we are all being led by a leader, the idea we are all individuals who have different histories and experience but are fighting for the same goal is alien.
They don't seem to be able to grasp it, were not doing this because we are following someone, we are doing it because we are protecting rights.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/01/2019 08:53

The idea it's a group of 100 or so "rad fems" is still there, thousands of people are commenting and making their voices heard, pink news own survey found 80% of the public were against self ID, but they still don't get it's most of the population.

It's fascinating.

feministfairy · 29/01/2019 08:55

And that is our strength. Women networking, organising and mobilising in ways those removing our rights could never have anticipated. And the general public getting to hear and see what has been hidden from them for years (and they're not impressed).

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 08:55

they do genuinely htink its two tribes of radfems, and they do not grasp hwat has happened here. THen again they had difficulty accepting women existed independently from them, of course its beyond them that we exist independently of each other and dont need to agree or even like each other to be bound by this.

I just heard that my Canadian cousin has peak-transed and is talking about little else with her friends and family. She's conservative with a small "c" but a very intelligent, thoughtful person. I am delighted she's on the same page as me.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 09:03

Posie has been under pretty extraordinary pressure with that fucking doxxing website and police harassment

Then along comes OP with blogs about how everyone warned her about Posie and while she’s in the air and can’t respond another blog is written attempting to damage her credibility. Who needs the TRAs?

You’re right about one thing. The general public are on side and it’s the adult human female t-shirts which have captured the imagination and been featured in the media.

LangCleg · 29/01/2019 09:04

I think if I was PP I'd be feeling very toughened by now. I'm just grateful she keeps going.

Yes. I feel the same about every woman. Which is why intra-movement battles don't interest me.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 09:05

Politely is still here. Hmm.

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 09:09

The latter part of this thread is such disturbing reading. Sometimes you have to wonder if people are aware of how they're coming across.

They really expected everyone to join in. confused

I believe this was the third round of it that I've witnessed. Would be lovely if it was the last too, but I'm not holding my breath.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 09:09

Still here. Marvelling at your output. Up til 3am then 4 blogposts attempting to reposition yourself. That’s some going before 9am.
