What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

the ones pulling together for the greater good will ultimately triumph.

Yes they will. If only Jean and Lisa had understood this all along.

ErrolTheDragon

Its been so intersting to learn about the women's history behind some of the statues

From your link:
'CARLISLE'S famous cracker packers were again used to make a stand for the rights of women, after their statue was given a makeover.'

Cracker Packers was the name given to workers at the (then-named) Carr’s biscuit factory in Carlisle.

The bronze statue depicts two Carr’s factory women workers - one from past times and one from the modern day, dressed in their respective factory uniforms - standing on a Carrs water biscuit.

It is sited almost opposite the McVitie's biscuit factory in Caldewgate.

It was unveiled on International Women's Day last March and not only represents women workers but is also sculpted by a woman.

Yesterday it was used to make a further political stand however, as someone dressed the women in black t-shirts emblazoned with the words "Woman, noun, an adult female".

Hannah Bowman, 21, from near Morton in Carlisle, said: "It's a bit confusing but it's right.

"You're no different to a man, apart from a woman can have a child.

"It's good to have a normal definition of a woman, not putting her down in any sort of way. She is just a human female."

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 01:18

'I dont know Politely, I have never in my life gone out of my way to attack a woman, never set up an account on a website to do so, never spent hours and hours reding the thoughts of someone i dont like because it makes me angry.'

Lisa, ALL you do is attack women. Everyone can see it. It's all there on your blogs and videos. That's why you're in such a rage because noone of any note wants to play with you any more. You've burned all your bridges yet again just like when you were also a Tory and pro-trans and then the mask slipped and you had to abandon that cause to seek fresh supply elsewhere. You leave your own vapour trail. You published a private conversation! You claimed a woman came to you for sanctuary from an abusive husband and that her child was the product of rape. Even if that was true what a disgusting thing to do.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 29/01/2019 01:18

Anyway, goodnight all! Have work in the morning.

Stand Up for Women, Fair Play for Women, Let a Woman Speak, ManFriday, and other like-minded women - I luffs you!

Big Kiss!

Good night.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 01:21

The only connectio I ever had to the person you mentioned was offering her somewhere to stay when she lied about her vulnerability. Outside that the rest is in her febrile imagintion, and the impac of her imagination on me has been significant but its still her imagination and yours. Now your focus on me is concerning but not new, not even remotely new. Now I cant help you with the thing that ails you because its your imagination and nothing to do with the woman you appear to be quite focused on. I suppose if its me you are going at Jean is getting a break. Thank fuck I avoid this behaviour at all costs. I dont need protection from whats going on in your imagination, or maybe I do..lol Maybe I do.

'I dont know Politely, I have never in my life gone out of my way to attack a woman

Reflection is key.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 01:22

Were you in a rage about Smith because you weren't asked to speak at a WP meeting, Lisa? How many groups have you left in a huff because you weren't given enough glory, Lisa? Have you been abandoned by everyone in the movement, Lisa, and all you are left with is strangers on Mumsnet?

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 01:23

'Lisa, ALL you do is attack women'

You see it that way and I accept that that is sincere, but I cant be held responsible for your imaginings and while i would love my blog to be what you rescribed its actually a rather dull reflection on a process by which instability is generated by the rule of law. Its really boring. There is a lot of it. I dont know why you force yourself to read it at all. I dont want to be too obvious but have you considered your anger at me for attacking women is about the sheer amount of time you spend on this? Cos I can assure you, your imaginings are entirely in your head.

OP posts:
Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 01:24

offering her somewhere to stay when she lied about her vulnerability.

You are doing it again Lisa. Hmm

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 01:25

Gee, you appear to need some help I cant give you. Outside the offer o ice cream there is nowt I can do there,. I cant make whats in your head true, I cant make any of it true for you, I am really sorry you are so injured by me existing but really its not going to change. If my blog bothers you, it might reassure you to know it barely gets 50 readers and am fairly sure a lot of them are trolls looking for mention of themselves and getting very disappointed that I dont consider them.

You are right OP. What you did was brilliant. Is brilliant.

Thank you for shining a light on this and telling me about it. It has made me think and given me the language to talk about it with people in real life.Brew

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 01:26

R0wantrees, still in denial. Still standing with someone with a clear history of... well, it's there for all to find who genuinely do care about women and aren't here for the glory.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 29/01/2019 01:29

I know I said goodnight just earlier - but as I read it now, Lisa is currently being persistently bullied by a tag team.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 01:29

Cos I can assure you, your imaginings are entirely in your head.

OP is called on her long history of attacking other women, evidenced on her blog. The response? You are mad, this is in your head.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 29/01/2019 01:32

I don't care what you men think of women. Any women.

Women have their own considerations. Sod all to do with men.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 01:33

Am not sure its a tag team, usually when there are two with this focus its not a tag team at all, its just one person trying to create volume. I am grateful for the demonstration of what I attract, but it really isnt as many people as all that. Its really important to keep that in mind. I think the demonstration is quite useful, as is the fact that it was also this time geared to Jean Hatchett. You can tell a lot from sock puppets, a really lot.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 01:36

Yes I am GeeWhizz and so is my wife.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2019 01:37

Lisa is currently being persistently bullied by a tag team.

Yes - and on a thread intended to celebrate what women have done together ... what sort of person would want to do that?

R0wantrees · 29/01/2019 01:39

Yes - and on a thread intended to celebrate what women have done together ... what sort of person would want to do that?

Its an important question to consider

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 01:40

Hands up I'm Harrop.

ToeToToe · 29/01/2019 01:40

but as I read it now, Lisa is currently being persistently bullied by a tag team.

Yes, she is. I think those posts may be gone int he morning - possibly the whole thread. Maybe that was their intention. To derail then snuff out a positive thread.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 01:43

So are the all the ones you've been asked tonight, R0wantrees, and have refused to answer. So you do stand with Lisa in her attacks on all those women?

There can be no celebration of what women have done together when the OP has done nothing but seek to destroy the ones who do - and then claim credit for their work. There will not be one woman out of those listed tonight who can all be found being chewed over on her blogs that will stand alongside Lisa Muggeridge. Lisa stands on her own. Her loneliness explains her rage.

R0wantrees · 29/01/2019 01:43

Maybe that was their intention. To derail then snuff out a positive thread.

Some significant events today:

Gender Critical Feminists of South West Wales thread:

"So why have women been putting t shirts on statues up and down the country? And why with the dictionary definition of woman?
Women have fought long and hard for the right to be accepted fully as members of society:
•It is just over a 100 years since some women won the right to vote on equal terms with men.
•43 years ago discrimination against women in the workplace was made illegal
•Women’s entitlement to equal pay was not enshrined in law until 1970
•During the 1970’s the first women’s refuges and rape crisis centres were opened
•Not until 1990 were married women taxed independently from their husbands
•Rape in Marriage became a crime in 1994
All of these and other many changes have been brought about by the activism of women speaking out, protesting, fighting for their rights to be treated as equal citizens.
And yet we still live in a sexist society:
•#metoo reminded us that sexual harassment and sexual violence are still daily occurrences for women and girls
• pay gap reporting reminded us that men are still paid more than women
•Austerity has hit women harder than men
Women have spent 150 years fighting for their rights, some of the issues women have fought for we no longer notice & are taken for granted. The Women’s Sanitary Association was formed in the 1850s to campaign for women’s public toilets, to enable women to go out & about
Early women’s public toilets were vandalised and destroyed by men who did not want women to have that right. Women are still campaigning for adequate toilet provision on construction sites.
If we dilute the definition of woman, we will not be able to see this sexism, we will not be able to record it or nor will we be able to record how we progress in eradicating sexism.
Today we dress statues & sculptures of women in the definition of woman to remind everyone:-
we cannot take women’s rights for granted & we still have a long way to go in creating a world which is safe and supportive for women and girls.

Today we Stand Up for Women & Girls"

You've been pretty vile, geewhiz, but not quite as vile as Harrop. Keep working on it, I'm sure you can get there.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 01:46

Toetoetoe Its good to have goals I think.

Rowantree- the poll for approval of the action in leeds was at 91% last time I looked.
