What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

I think the flying monkeys dont need jetpacks but they do need waistcoats. t could be the waistcoats arent dry and then release vapour when they fly. I think their wings do the job though without jetpacks. Which would be dangerous and difficult to operate.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 00:31

On the kids, maybe. I wouldn't vouch for your safety if you attempted to strap jetpacks to the kittens.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 00:31

Mine won't even let me put a Santa hat on without sulking...

R0wantrees · 29/01/2019 00:31

I think this is properly at the core of our problme,s of why social media is such a narc fest

Social media also encourages black and white thinking eg like/don't like or retweet / ignore and emotional reactions with emojis.
In real life situations these would be viewed as problematic.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 29/01/2019 00:31

They could be powered by farts, and cushioned in the air by their own, erm, effusiveness?

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 00:32

Again, thanks for reading so carefully, CaptainKirksSpookyghost and AngryAttackKittens. Appreciated. Perhaps try seeing them as harpies. Ray Harryhausen's creations in Jason and the Argonauts. Being as they are creative devices, metaphorical, for the purposes of imagery, they will not be literal - gosh, I didn't expect to have to explain such basics to the women of Mumsnet; tonight really has been an eyeopener. So those creatures can fly as high as you like. For creative purposes.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 00:33

Don’t forget GeeWhizz those women you named are the tip of the iceberg.

2ndWaveFeminist · 29/01/2019 00:33

the cool girls Grin that is fucking hilarious

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 00:33

Look, just to be clear here... You know they're not real. Right?

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 00:33

I'd rather have the mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans.

terryleather · 29/01/2019 00:33

I do indeed ItsAll! Back in the day you could buy it by the glass at the Glasgow QMU...

I'm not proud of my Buckie drinking youth and in light of my shame I am not going to judge Sonic for giving her wee darling WBH Grin

Hope to see you soon too Sonic!

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 00:34

Showing your age LangClegg. I like the bit when the Medusa’s head is cut off.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 00:34

It really does. The identity without context thing, it triggers some batshittery. I dont think with hindsight its any surprise social media ended u that way. I think we are coming out an initial phase of that, but I genuinely think reflection is key. Its certainly key to our policy problems, recognising potential harm. We got rid o the notion of people being perfect when we had to develop systems dealing with the reality of abuse, we found out then we need reflection embedded in the system. Its the antithesis of projecting a media image and protecting it at all costs as perfect. One guarantees harm the other doesnt. One guarantes a narc reflex, the other neutralises that.

You can dress it up as pseudo academic analysis or social commentary all you like OP, but the fact remains that you have hurt women and remain defiant and unrepentant about it.

Claiming that people who call you out on it are narcs, doesn’t change this fact.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 00:39

I didn't know, no, Politely. I came on here looking for clarity, expecting to find women equally horrified at what some women can do to each other. And instead I've found women actively supporting one who does so much damage. It's dispiriting. I think this movement is destined for failure and I'm not sure, with what's on evidence here, it deserves any better.

R0wantrees · 29/01/2019 00:40

but I genuinely think reflection is key

Reflection and critical thinking are such key skills.
Encouraged by reading books but potentially dis-abled by social media, 24 hour news & news media without skilled, experienced editors.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 00:40

What's that expression she uses, Politely? The one about people who go on about narcissism being the narcs themselves? Because noone seems to reference narcissism quite so much.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 00:42

Do you think the OP is capable of reflection, R0wantrees? The terrible damage she has done to women? Do you support her in what she did to Karen Ingala Smith?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2019 00:43

Flying monkeys? Well, obviously they're what you get if you try to make an infinite number of monkeys produce the works of Shakespeare- some of them are bound to invent jet packs instead.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 00:45

Politely- the sum total of my crimes has been to record how consensus was maintained on austerity. I have no connection to the fantasy life of one of the women you mentioned, and me saying I wont stand with a facsist doesnt really change that. Now being as you asked about the harassment warning, the police were clear with the person issuing it that the behaviour pattern it was part of could result in a mirror warning, i dont use police resources for what a letter will sort. Your focus on me, and the sockpuppet company is ad emonstration. One you have no insight into, I can tell, but it is that and nothing more. The thing with defamation is it only causes harm if it cant be shown to be absolutely untrue and luckily my behaviour is consistent. The whole accusations as admissions thing is interesting but your demonstration of it is kind of creepy. Your anger that a mum is on mumsnet discussing dodg ice cream recipes and shit bombs would appear to be about something that is bothering you and not me. Thats the thing with sockpuppets, they bang the drum behind false names because they know its bollocks. You dont bother me, this behaviour has been a feature of my life for quite some time. You are just demonstrating to everyone else what that means for me.. Am all good with that. Lack of insight can be useful when you need it to be xxxx

You didnt find the pile on of Posie here, you found support, you couldnt get us to throw jean hatchett to the wolves and your deranged behaviour is doing nothing more than demonstrating a problem. And the reason that no sane person goes near cultures where that behaviour occurs. Am afraid this is all a bit mouse from the Grufalo. You have imagined something and as I am not part of your imaginings and they have no relevance to me or my actual behavour, you should take me up on the offer of weetabix ice cream. No fucker else will.

Reflection is key. Yet when I suggested earlier that we need to draw lessons from this weekend, I was told off for being a schoolteacher and telling people what to think.

Jean did something incredibly damaging. OP has contributed to that, then comes along and claims victory. It’s astonishing.

lisamuggeridge · 29/01/2019 00:47

I am thinking about this flying monkeys business, I think the RSPCA would be annoyed if you attached jetpacks to monkeys or kittens. You may get away with attaching one to a kid cos childrens services have been decimated so not sure anyone will mind.

Have a look at tonight's ouput while she's been on here and people protecting her, Bubonicpanic. This has been going on for years and years. She started AGAIN on Smith on Boxing Day. Boxing Day! And never ever let up. 19 blogs today. Imagine being on the receiving end of that as a woman. And then coming on to Mumsnet and finding women supporting that abuse. I've seen Caroline Farrow destroyed on here to protect the OP. Anyone with any ability to think for themselves can find incredible damage done to Farrow while the OP claims she is the victim. This is DARVO and a half and everyone on here is facilitating it.
