What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

Indeed.

Polite should be the frozen bananas.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 23:58

Maybe that's fair enough though as I certainly consider WBH to be goady and not in the spirit

Maybe consumption of spirits would blunt the horror somewhat?

Wouldn't it be lovely to have postcards made up of some of them...

Definitely.

It could be a great way to raise funds too.

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2019 23:59

I'd never adulterate my whisky by adding it to wheat mush. That's just disrespectful, that is.

terryleather · 29/01/2019 00:01

Tbh Angry that's about the only way I'd manage to consume that revolting concoction...

Politelygiveszerofucks · 29/01/2019 00:02

Cos I am a bit confused. One moment there’s YouTube videos saying this is my last video. Then another 2, all making serious allegations against other women.

Then we have the last blog post. Then several more blog posts. Then a second blog running concurrently to the first one. Then we are returning to Mumsnet as queen regnant after one blog post blaming the mods as being part of a huge oppression conspiracy.

It’s like we are being bombarded with so much information it’s difficult to keep up and our brains turn into spaghetti so we don’t question.

littlbrowndog · 29/01/2019 00:02

Haha terry you lush

ROwantrees thank-you, love MNetters

I'm basking in the joy of what we did today even though I didn't get out on a cold morning because that we is women and we don't need to all agree with each other on every point to change the world.

terryleather · 29/01/2019 00:05

And we are bloody well not putting whisky, the drink of my people, into WBH - what the fuck has gotten into everyone tonight????

If booze is going in it should be rum imao.

lbd Its a good question but women who vote for right wing parties are also adult human females.

I think stationery selling should be inclusive.

I can only thank you for spending so much reading my thoughts and watching them., I am staggered by your attention and how important you think I am. I am still on weetabix, got to be honest, also liking the idea of postcards.

I’m enjoying a spot of vintage port here geewhiz

OP’s blog claims to be an accurate record of the crisis and in it she makes reference to having received a harassment warning from a named woman so one can only assume she is telling the truth.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/01/2019 00:07

If people keep suggest doing unspeakable things to whisky I think we're going to have to send Gordon Ramsey round to tell them off.

geeewhizz · 29/01/2019 00:08

Politely, that behaviour you're identifying sounds like someone else who's been welcomed round these parts today. Someone who also declared she was deleting her account and yet within hours of the Posie Parker footage emerging seems to have disappeared from here and undeleted her account again. You'd almost think it was being done for attention. Victimhood. Flying monkeys going to fly, I suppose.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 29/01/2019 00:08

I do not expect feminists to do things perfectly.

I think this is an important point, weriseup.

Heroism and adulation of heroes is a very male trait. The idea that somebody could embody perfection is a nonsense.

We are all human. Women surely must recognise that humans, no matter their ideals, are fallible. We all lose our temper, tell fibs, behave less than honourably, have feeble moments and get swept up in social media outrage. And a million other failings inherent to being human.

Someone can be brave, brilliant and amazing and also be rude, selfish and impatient. Someone can be strong, innovative and creative, while also being unreliable, thoughtless and paranoid.

Instead of expecting the world of the women we admire, and feeling betrayed when they reveal their flawed humanity, we should admire the good stuff, recognise the not-so-good stuff and understand that everyone has feet of clay.

Every women who, at the end of their tether, yelled at a child or bitched about a partner or snapped at a sales clerk recognises that sometimes good people are bad. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t call them out when necessary, but that shouldn’t happen just because they have exposed their failings and we’re outraged at their fall from grace.

Would we even be having these conversations if the people we are talking about were male? I don’t think so - we’d excuse their bad behaviour because of their achievements.

The whole point of female socialisation is to force us to focus inwards on our appearance and our behaviour. And it sets up other women as the arbiters, which is why women can be so vicious to each other - it’s built into the system. FGM is performed on women, by women, at the behest of the patriarchy.

It’s hard to read the label from inside the bottle, but we really need to resist our socialisation. It stops us being properly angry and makes us turn on each other.

terryleather · 29/01/2019 00:11

I'm not so keen on port, it has the nasty viscous mouthfeel of Buckfast and reminds me of my misspent youth....

BubonicTheHedgehag · 29/01/2019 00:12

I like the fact that Glamorgan Sausages are made mostly of crumbed bread and a bit of cheese, and a chopped leek if you are lucky.

Fried in bacon fat, though, for preference!
