What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

This is great. Thanks everyone for leaving me the floor. As the OP keeps telling us, it's so important to ensure an accurate public record is kept.

R0wantrees · 28/01/2019 23:48

... I am glad that there are so many women up and down the country who are making such an effort so that we know more about changes in the law and what they will mean to us. Because government has not got our backs.

And I am glad that so many women went out and decorated those few statues of women with the t-shirts with the dictionary definition of Woman. They are inspiring and have made me smile all day.

I am glad that we have such women in this world, because we need them, and that so many of them come onto Mumsnet.

Its brilliant, I've been smiling today. I keep checking the thread here and the Resisters on Twitter to see more photographs of dressed statues.

Smile

Well I'm off to bed.....despite the fact I really fancy a weetabix now.....

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2019 23:50

The T-shirt’s. Fecking brilliant
The ice cream recipes fecking not so much
Where’s some decent cake recipes ffs

PositivelyPERF · 28/01/2019 23:50

Right. I have work to do. Good night all and good luck Lisa.

I’m still not taking sides. I haven’t had the ovaries to do what you, Posie or any of the other women have done, so I’m not going to judge you on having issues with each other. I think you’re all fucking marvellous.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 23:50

Not sure if human shitbomb counts as taking one for the team or giving one...

Meanwhile, am trying to wrap my head around the idea of Weetabix ice cream. No.

feministfairy · 28/01/2019 23:51

This has indeed been a great day of inspirational direct action. And the Humberside Police twitter threads have kept me amused for ages.

2ndWaveFeminist · 28/01/2019 23:51

ROwantrees so freezing ripe bananas, so you mash them up? Box them? Freeze them unpeeled, peeled? I always find my bananas are that perfect point of overripe when I don't want to make banana bread and when I want to make banana bread they are green.

lisamuggeridge · 28/01/2019 23:52

' so I’m not going to judge you on having issues with each other. I think you’re all fucking marvellous.

It would be weird in such a cross section of women for issues not to come out. Question is how we deal with them. I do think people were a bit harsh about the weetabix ice cream, it was just a suggestion.

Hi Sonic

The Notorious Weetabix Banana Horror is the boak-inducing combo of cereal, banana and hot milk as favoured by some on this board - its chiefs pusher is Lang who is unrepentant about this abomination.

Also at one point MNHQ didn't seem to like us discussing cereal related topics, but it seems to be ok now...?

Maybe that's fair enough though as I certainly consider WBH to be goady and not in the spirit Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 23:53

We could always burn some joss sticks if anyone accidentally gave PERF dairy.

2ndWaveFeminist · 28/01/2019 23:53

A solution to my banana problem would round off this day very nicely Grin

ToeToToe · 28/01/2019 23:53

It has been a great day. This statue in particular - so beautiful. Lifts the heart.

💪💪🍺🍺🍺🍺
And of course the T-shirt’s

BubonicTheHedgehag · 28/01/2019 23:54

Noooo!!!!

Boom-boom-boom
Another one bites the dust...

(And by dust, I do mean Weetabix. Dreadful stuff. Give me a bit of toast with butter and Marmite. Please.)

R0wantrees · 28/01/2019 23:54

2ndWaveFeminist

Freeze them as they are, whole and unpeeled. I just chuck them in the freezer.

When you've enough for banana bread they only take an hour or so to defrost.

Do put them in bowl when defrosting to catch the juice.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 28/01/2019 23:54

Is it safe to assume that the risk to OP’s daughter repeatedly referred to as the reason why she had to stop producing public content and used as proof of her oppression, has now dissipated?

If so, that’s great news. What happened to make it go away?

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 23:56

PositivelyPERF You should see Lisa's blogs! They're epic. She's known for them. Pages and pages and pages. Maybe that's why you don't seem to know what she's actually done to women. They are a bit of a turgid read. Sorry, Lisa. But 19 blogs! In one day! That's not healthy. It must be v lonely, I get that. But have you thought of blogging about Weetabix instead? You may actually get some supply without having to come on here.

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2019 23:56

Frozen bananas I think politely

WeRiseUp · 28/01/2019 23:56

It has been a great day. This statue in particular - so beautiful. Lifts the heart.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have postcards made up of some of them...

lisamuggeridge · 28/01/2019 23:57

Thanks to Politelygivesnofucks and co for demonstrating why i dont use social media that much but do you think they are ok? they seem very very cross. Am not being funny but I think its all the recipe talk. I do.

Oh yeps great idea. Post cards would be cool
