This woman is standing outside King's College Cambridge every Saturday afternoon protesting against the silencing of women.

Isn't she amazing?

Yes, she’s amazing.

WokeNotBloke · 27/01/2019 11:08

Wow

GCAcademic · 27/01/2019 11:09

This lady is on here, I think (she has a long-running thread). Yes, she is fabulous. I work in a university, and can confirm that, the way things stand, it takes an incredible level of bravery to take the stand she has been taking.

Oh gosh I didn't realise! I didn't read that thread as I'm nowhere near Cambridge and thought it was just a meet up group. maniacmagpie you rock

Imnobody4 · 27/01/2019 11:22

I have such respect for her.

OrchidInTheSun · 27/01/2019 11:23

And thank you yeah for pointing me to the thread

OvaHere · 27/01/2019 11:24

That is great. Well done manicmagpie.

It greatly disturbs me that we have to fight against such rhetoric in 2019. Sad

Needmoresleep · 27/01/2019 11:28

maniacmagpie is amazing.

A student sticking their head above the parapet is very brave indeed.

If you see her go up and say hello, and stand with her for a while. She should not stand alone.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 27/01/2019 11:40

She says it all doesn’t she? She is very brave.

NeedChoos · 27/01/2019 11:53

Amazing!

Oxytocindeficient · 27/01/2019 11:55

Amazing. Just brilliant.

WunderBlah · 27/01/2019 11:57

Thank you brave and intelligent woman, courage calls to courage.

Dragon3 · 27/01/2019 12:00

What a woman. Thank you manicmagpie. I'm not in Cambridge. If I was, I'd stand with you and buy you a drink afterwards.

PimmsnLemonade · 27/01/2019 12:22

Brilliant, courageous woman.

Dragon3 · 27/01/2019 12:22

OMG I just skimmed manicmagpie's thread (having ignored it because thread title references Cambridge). I'm open mouthed at her persistence and courage. And feeling very protective of her.

I hope that she has lots of kind women around her IRL for support.

NotTerfNorCis · 27/01/2019 12:23

That is great!

Winnie2019 · 27/01/2019 12:25

What is the background to this? If somebody could point me in the direction of a article to read on this subject it would be greatly appreciated Smile

Thanks.

@maniacmagpie

You are a total shero! I'm probably old enough to be your granny and I (rather curiously) feel very proud of you and for you!

I only wish I lived nearer to Cambridge so that I could come and stand beside you Flowers

2ndWaveFeminist · 27/01/2019 12:38

Oh wow!

with so many threads and not living in or near Cambridge I hadn't opened that thread thought it was a meetup

manaicmagpie you're amazing

JSmitty · 27/01/2019 12:39

Not even true in its own terms.

Of the 23 female MPs in the HoC in 1973, the older ones would be past menstruating and some of the younger ones would have been on the pill.

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 27/01/2019 12:46

Here you go @Winnie2019,
Fill your boots.

In short, The Women's March is 'inclusive' and 'intersectional', meaning anyone who identifies as a woman can join in.

Women's March organisers referred to the 23 women MPs at the time of joining the European Union as "menstruators".

Fuck that.
