Wow this blew up more than I thought it would. Thank you OrchidInTheSun.
I do detailed updates of my interactions with passers by on the 'Call for gender critical people in Cambridge, UK' thread. It is mainly me blathering about my experiences. You can see me evolve through several stages as things develop through the GRA consultation and my dawning realisation that it goes far deeper than I had thought. I will update on there soon with some details about why I chose this manner of protest on Saturday and how it went.
Usually I am sitting carrying a sign that says 'acknowledging biological sex is NOT hate speech' inviting open discussion and showing people that I am not afraid to have my name and face attached to the views I hold. I'm usually somewhat more neutral.
Naturally there has been a fair bit of yelling, but even a few of the people who start out angry will give me a fair hearing. Plenty of support is given, and particularly from mumsnetters. There is robust discussion from a range of views. Most are reasonable even if they come with the express purpose to defend their friends, as if they are willing to speak to me they can see what I am supportive of other people and motivated not by irrational hatred of the other but by a desire to support people. It is an emotive and difficult discussion to have and I take care to thank them for giving me a space even if they start out angry or upset.
My main purpose and desire is to show people who are struggling through this mire, isolated in 'woke' circles but feeling like they might be going a bit paranoid and bananas, that they are not alone. I have connected with plenty of several gender criticals in this way and also managed to connect them with each other.
Thank you all for your support!
