Courting the far right is wrong....

OneTimeThing · 26/01/2019 08:12

...if you follow that with a ‘but’ to justify Posie Parker’s courting of the far right, then you are a fascist.

I said I would only post one thing on this board. I kept that promise.

But this is the pits right here. Posie Parker is seeking funding and making deals with white supremacist, crypto fascists, misogynists, homophobes and racists. How does this not show you what your movement is and has always been?

You need to look at yourselves. If your response is anything other than total rejection of posie Parker and all the groups she is involving herself with, then you are just as bad. If you think that trans people/‘trans activists’ are worse than Tommy Robinson, ultra trump supporters and others who spew far right views then you are a racist, sexist, homophobic nightmare. Those labels equally describe what a person is as well as what a person does.

“But what about TRA’s?” Some of you will want to scream at me.

You don’t see Paris Lees going off to get funding from literal fascists. Hell, Caitlin Jenner votes for trump and the global trans community has never and will never forgive her. And either way, none of what “they” do will magically make it okay to go suck up to people that think gay people should be sterilised or that Muslim’s are evil.

Transphobia is revolting. It’s wrong, and it comes as no surprise to hear that transphobia (which most of you peddle right here) will eventually push people towards other kinds of hate.

Take a long hard look at yourselves. I’m a transgender woman, a mum, and I hope at least some of you are seriously thinking about what kind of person you want to be.

You could argue that Posie is queering normative discourse by engaging in dialogue with groups deemed taboo.

Just throwing that out there. Wink

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 15:39

I've noticed that a lot of TRAs don't seem to understand the concept of a middle ground between "enthusiastically and wholeheartedly support with no reservations" and "burn at the stake".

WeRiseUp · 26/01/2019 15:40

Posie is actually queering up queer.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 15:41

Supporting?

Praising?

Leading?

Blending?

Eating?

Drinking?

In the end it's all "doing" words, verbs.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 15:41

And the Swedes are queering pizza.

(Can they not?)

Yarnswift · 26/01/2019 15:43

You can’t get a decent cuppa either...and don’t start me on the telly...

On the plus side, functional civil society, pleasingly decorative snow, almost free childcare and paid leave to look after sick kids. There are compensations for the eternal darkness/maddening constant light, appalling climate, total lack of tea / scones and the preponderance of herring, smoked sheep and cold meats.

BlackShutters · 26/01/2019 15:44

I was gonna say that! Can you pick the bananas off, I wonder.

BeUpStanding · 26/01/2019 15:44

Discussing the place of women in specific religions is quite a common feminist topic, and Islam is pretty controversial on that basis. It's not 'Islamophobic' to acknowledge that.

^^This.

Those screen shots - I don't see PP 'blaming Pakistani culture for rapists', I see her pointing out it's taboo to mention that rapist gang's shared cultural heritage and any relevance that may have. It's a call for honest, if painful, debate. That's not enough evidence for me I'm afraid.

HerFemaleness · 26/01/2019 15:44

(Can they not?)

Your western/southern European pizzacentrism is reductive and exclusionary.

WeRiseUp · 26/01/2019 15:45

The Swedes are queering pizza.
That deserves to be a thread title Grin

Yarnswift · 26/01/2019 15:45

Yes black it's usually a slice rather than mush. Can be scraped off.

Doesn’t really make it edible though. Curry pizza is Envy

BeUpStanding · 26/01/2019 15:46

Ooh I like that! 10 points to HerFemaleness Smile

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 15:46

The pickled shark is only in Iceland, right?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 15:49

pickled shark
Dododododoooo

MargueritaPink · 26/01/2019 15:49

I think its because she doesn't agree with hijab, particularly on young girls. Given that I have seen it explained by Muslims as something which has at least a partial motivation in covering up women for reasons around being sexually tempting (though I know that's not the whole thing) I can't see that as something many feminists would find controversial

I think it's pretty appalling that young girls wear hijab. And are we reverting back to the idea it is verboten to look at the ethnicities of the men in Rotherham and Cologne because doing so is Islamaphobic?

Is it also Islamaphobic to mention Asia Bibi and Pakistan's apostasy and blasphemy laws? No country where the Catholic Church still plays a major part in determining law and policy has anything which comes close.

Yarnswift · 26/01/2019 15:50

Thankfully, yes, AAK But we do have surströmming. Which is as close as food gets to chemical weapons.

BlackShutters · 26/01/2019 15:51

I might try it once without bananas.

I don't get cheesecake really though. I mean it's fine

TinselAngel · 26/01/2019 15:51

. I’m a transgender woman, a mum,

No you are not a "mum", the female person who gave birth to the child is the mum. HTH.

TheRollingCrone · 26/01/2019 15:54

'Sweet Yorkshire Puddings' - hate crime right there

I am FUCKING OUTRAGED

Bowlofbabelfish · 26/01/2019 15:56

Which members of religious/cultural/identity groups get a free pass on being investigated then? Which ones are exempt from safeguarding? Because that’d be great to know, we could save a ton of cash and time.

Ah - None - because predators span all religious groups, all ideologies, all races and national groupings. None are inherently more or less good than any other. The law applies to all. Safeguarding applies to all. To refuse to investigate an individual or group of individuals because of worry that you’ll be called racist/transphobic/sexist/religionist is ridiculous. ^peoples identities or beliefs do not make them safe, or unsafe, their actions do.*

That applies both ways

Cwenthryth · 26/01/2019 15:58

The OFSTED chief inspector is also concerned about about pressure on young girls to wear hijab

If I said that Christianity has a history of convert or die, what would that make me?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 16:01

So is that Ofsted inspector now our leader?

We're moving through them so quickly I forget who to worship?

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 16:03

I am appalled at the idea of young girls wearing hijab also. I don’t like any culture that forces women to cover up.

Unfortunately there are countries which have even worse rape culture than we do. It’s not racism to point that out. Australia has significant issues with sexism also, is that racist to say? Can we talk about homophobic cultures?
