Courting the far right is wrong....

OneTimeThing · 26/01/2019 08:12

...if you follow that with a ‘but’ to justify Posie Parker’s courting of the far right, then you are a fascist.

I said I would only post one thing on this board. I kept that promise.

But this is the pits right here. Posie Parker is seeking funding and making deals with white supremacist, crypto fascists, misogynists, homophobes and racists. How does this not show you what your movement is and has always been?

You need to look at yourselves. If your response is anything other than total rejection of posie Parker and all the groups she is involving herself with, then you are just as bad. If you think that trans people/‘trans activists’ are worse than Tommy Robinson, ultra trump supporters and others who spew far right views then you are a racist, sexist, homophobic nightmare. Those labels equally describe what a person is as well as what a person does.

“But what about TRA’s?” Some of you will want to scream at me.

You don’t see Paris Lees going off to get funding from literal fascists. Hell, Caitlin Jenner votes for trump and the global trans community has never and will never forgive her. And either way, none of what “they” do will magically make it okay to go suck up to people that think gay people should be sterilised or that Muslim’s are evil.

Transphobia is revolting. It’s wrong, and it comes as no surprise to hear that transphobia (which most of you peddle right here) will eventually push people towards other kinds of hate.

Take a long hard look at yourselves. I’m a transgender woman, a mum, and I hope at least some of you are seriously thinking about what kind of person you want to be.

So, right wing women to the naughty table, men appropriating womanhood get head of the table, party hats and a second biscuit (and don't look too closely at their politics, qualifications, criminal history, male pattern behaviour or 'science')

Yay feminism!

Seriously, I'm not afraid of the conversations. I want to listen to women from all sides. I'm not afraid of being turned alt-right fgs. I'll make my own mind up and I'll respect women enough to trust them to do the same.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 26/01/2019 14:54

I also don't care if it looks bad. Not one bit.
It looks like centering women. Even when we vehemently disagree.

Stolen from an AIBU thread - Lang, I've finally found a horror that make your Weetabix concoction seem positively benign. Apparently this is a normal pizza in Sweden.

Chicken, banana, peanuts and curry sauce

(Why do all the weird combinations involve bananas?)

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 26/01/2019 15:05

at uni, towards the end of both term and money, DH used to concoct his famous lentil and weetabix curry

i kid you not

BeUpStanding · 26/01/2019 15:09

By jove AAK you're right... Google confirms banana curry pizza is actually a thing in Sweden. I am beyond shocked Shock

FactsAreNotMean · 26/01/2019 15:11

This, exactly this.

I'm done with being told by people who were born with penises - whatever their current condition - that I'm doing feminism wrong, that we can't be feminist if we .

And I'm fed up of seeing right wing women condemned. I'm pretty much politically homeless at the moment (although I'd say I'm broadly centrist overall) as there is no political party which really speaks to me, but the left really doesn't come out shining when it comes to supporting, promoting and advancing women or their rights recently.

FactsAreNotMean · 26/01/2019 15:13

That pizza banana combo is a crime!

Oh, good heavens. Even I boak at that.

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 15:18

Posie is quite openly islamaphobic and has said many transphobic things that even people here couldn’t deny were wrong.
Why people use her as some form of ‘spokesperson’ I’ll never understand, she does no good for the cause. But then I like to remind myself, the trans people I know who just want to live their lives in peace do not support the TRA’s, so I’d like to think the feminists who are not transphobic but are genuinely concerned for woman, do not support some of the things Posie has said and done.

Yarnswift · 26/01/2019 15:21

Apparently this is a normal pizza in Sweden.

I can confirm this.

Even worse are the ones with bearnaise sauce on ...

Stardustinmyeyes · 26/01/2019 15:22

I've made a Christmas pudding cheesecake, ''tis lush

BeUpStanding · 26/01/2019 15:22

Please can someone, anyone, provide evidence that Posie is racist or islamaphobic? This accusation keeps being flung around but I've not yet seen any evidence to support it.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 15:22

Dear Sweden - please explain.

HamiltonCork · 26/01/2019 15:23

What exactly did she say that was transphobic or islamaphobic?

JellySlice · 26/01/2019 15:25

Just had to copy this over from the other thread:

^The old saying: right wing men think women are private property; left wing men think women are public property.

That's why they all shit themselves when women of varying political stripes get together. It must be stopped at all costs.^

7Days · 26/01/2019 15:25

There's something dark in Scandinavia under all that hygge and lagom distraction

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 15:28

Are you all for real?
Google ‘Posie Parker islamaphoia’ you’ll come up with a generous amount of screen shots.

For starters, she said all trans people should be sterilised. She blamed ‘Pakistani culture’ for rapists. I would attach some screenshots but there’s too many.

I think its because she doesn't agree with hijab, particularly on young girls. Given that I have seen it explained by Muslims as something which has at least a partial motivation in covering up women for reasons around being sexually tempting (though I know that's not the whole thing) I can't see that as something many feminists would find controversial.

Discussing the place of women in specific religions is quite a common feminist topic, and Islam is pretty controversial on that basis. It's not 'Islamophobic' to acknowledge that.

RepealTheGRA · 26/01/2019 15:28

Have you actually read the thread Earlywalker? Confused

Banana curry pizza 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢

I’m quite feeling Xmas pud cheesecake though! Mint aero has been my previous favourite.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 15:31

Having noted that the initial attempt to stir up infighting hasn't worked, reinforcements arrive with a larger paddle.

(Good luck distracting people from the pizza of existential despair. I guess that's what happens when you don't see sunlight for month at a time?)

Bowlofbabelfish · 26/01/2019 15:32

And I'm fed up of seeing right wing women condemned.

This too.

Right wing should not be a term of abuse any more than left wing is. The extremes of both left and right are a different matter - but the left and the right are both valid political stances.

The left in particular is pushing a view that what they do is the correct thing simply because they are left wing and that everything right wing is wrong simply because it’s right wing.

This totally stops people looking at individual acts, policies etc and asking ‘what are the repercussions of this?’ ‘Is this specific act harmful or beneficial?’ In effect its another thought terminating cliche. It amplifies identity politics as well.

RepealTheGRA · 26/01/2019 15:33

Is banana curry pizza behind the rise of the far right in Sweden? Discuss. Grin

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 15:34

I was responding to the people saying ‘why is she islamaphobic’
I’m not reinforcements but if you’re going to sing someone’s praises you should do your research at least.

im not afraid of the conversation
Sorry but It looks like you are when so many FWR threads turn to recipes and random things to avoid discussions. Most people aren’t thick enough to be distracted by banana curry’s tbh

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 15:35

Two more for you, for anyone that maybe hasn’t done their research on who exactly they are supporting.

A quick look at the board today suggests that this is the only thread full of recipes? There's a fantastic nuanced and passionate thread exploring all these issues. But us women have a very keen nose for the ploppers and those posting just to harangue and silence women and it seemed to me as if that was likely to be the intention of the long absent OP.

The issues you raise have been fully explored on the other thread with (shock and horror) women making up their own minds.
