Courting the far right is wrong....

OneTimeThing · 26/01/2019 08:12

...if you follow that with a ‘but’ to justify Posie Parker’s courting of the far right, then you are a fascist.

I said I would only post one thing on this board. I kept that promise.

But this is the pits right here. Posie Parker is seeking funding and making deals with white supremacist, crypto fascists, misogynists, homophobes and racists. How does this not show you what your movement is and has always been?

You need to look at yourselves. If your response is anything other than total rejection of posie Parker and all the groups she is involving herself with, then you are just as bad. If you think that trans people/‘trans activists’ are worse than Tommy Robinson, ultra trump supporters and others who spew far right views then you are a racist, sexist, homophobic nightmare. Those labels equally describe what a person is as well as what a person does.

“But what about TRA’s?” Some of you will want to scream at me.

You don’t see Paris Lees going off to get funding from literal fascists. Hell, Caitlin Jenner votes for trump and the global trans community has never and will never forgive her. And either way, none of what “they” do will magically make it okay to go suck up to people that think gay people should be sterilised or that Muslim’s are evil.

Transphobia is revolting. It’s wrong, and it comes as no surprise to hear that transphobia (which most of you peddle right here) will eventually push people towards other kinds of hate.

Take a long hard look at yourselves. I’m a transgender woman, a mum, and I hope at least some of you are seriously thinking about what kind of person you want to be.

"I think it's pretty appalling that young girls wear hijab. And are we reverting back to the idea it is verboten to look at the ethnicities of the men in Rotherham and Cologne because doing so is Islamaphobic?"

Some of our press would rather we looked the other way, or talked about other issues such as "Islamophobia" or "the rise of right wing groups".
I also remember Sarah Champion the Labour MP for Rotherham being reprimanded by her own party for speaking out about the people responsible, and also Sajid Javid,

www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/03/sajid-javid-defends-noting-the-ethnicity-of-child-grooming-gang

This is what Posie had to say about her tweets.

www.theposieparker.com/statement-about-tweets-and-wpuk

In the following video a young Pakistani born woman tries a bit of victim blaming "They are young, they are white and they are cheap".
The second caller is a young man from a Pakistani background, who also makes excuses for the perpetrators - "come from villages, poorly educated, haven't integrated".
This is a cultural problem.

I'm going to try to engage with the salient points in this thread.
it's back
combo
controversial!

Nightwitch · 26/01/2019 16:18

So, because a woman who said things some men don't like, may possibly, but not proven, hold views I don't agree with and has spoken to people I definitely dont agree with on all things, I should shut up and get naked in public in front of men.

Look I have to make some ridiculous Jamie chicken thing in a minute, can someone let me know if posie is our leader or the ofsted inspector, I will not be able to settle till I know. Should we have an election maybe.

Solidarity, OneTimeThing

On here I've seen the uncritical use of:

Solidarity with a Male appropriating womanhood and daring to call themselves a Mum. Fucking hell.

OrchidInTheSun · 26/01/2019 16:25

My son's making apple crumble at school this week. Excited!

I've also used:

  1. Pink Floyd lyrics with no regard to copyright law and no payment made to Roger Waters.
  2. sections from Hitler era Laurel and Hardy sketches.
  3. bit from Phil Collins Jesus he loves me.
  4. I've mention bother Camp Can and Robertson's marmalade on this thread, both had racist connections.
HamiltonCork · 26/01/2019 16:26

Are our leaders self appointed or do we elect them?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 16:27

TRA's seem to appoint them.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 16:28

That should say:
"Both camp coffee and Robertson's marmalade"

WrathofRancidKlopp · 26/01/2019 16:30

You'd think we were campaigning for a change in the law.

No, we are trying to prevent an existing law from being changed.

Safeguarding and children's rights, women and girls rights as a protected characteristic.

Self Id will destroy that protection.

The saying: "Any Tom, Dick and Harry" explains it well.

O4FS · 26/01/2019 16:41

I’ve never seen any of those things and I’ve been here fucking ages.

Seen a lot of made up shit thought

What is it with this section of mumsnet where any comment made comes back to this? The point is, you will happily rant on for ages about the TRA ‘leaders’ about what they’ve said and done, who they are etc. You will say ‘well if trans people just want to live happily they should condem these people for x, y, z. They’re not doing this so they agree with them’
Yet when a woman, who has had loads of support from MN, has been a spokesperson for the GC side - has been open about holding extreme views, has met with someone who is anti-LGBT and anti-abortion rights, rather than saying ‘yes actually that is wrong’ you’re instead going along with the ‘what phobic? What’s wrong with that? Nope nothing to see here, let’s share hummous recipes’

You will forever be the bigot in the equasion if you allow the proven bigot to speak for you without condemning her.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 16:52

She doesn't speak for us, she speaks for herself.

AAK
We've recently been informed that the Pope thinks a woman is an adult human female too
Phew.
There's a sentence I'd never thought I needed to hear

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/01/2019 16:54

Why do you insist on assigning leaders and representatives to a bunch of individuals?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 26/01/2019 16:57

Grin at Skyzalimit 's outrage over this

On here I've seen the uncritical use of:

A comparison between Judith Butler and Jordan Petersen

mea culpa. that was me.

saying that Butlers stream of bollocks consciousness style reminds me of Peterson at his most impenetrable is akin to posting links from pro life websites. gotcha

all hail Judith Butler, no criticism allowed.

MargueritaPink · 26/01/2019 16:58

A comparison between Judith Butler and Jordan Petersen

I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make here. Butler and Peterson are both academics who have become media stars. I'm not sure Peterson voluntarily courted the media so assiduously and enthusiastically as Butler but turns out, after being dragged into it by the threat of being expelled from his university, he's a big hit.

I don't see why comparing the 2 is indicative of anything other than exploring the phenomenon of academics breaking into popular culture.

Or is your post predicated on Peterson being an alt- right bogeyman with whom no decent - thinking person should have truck?

lisamuggeridge · 26/01/2019 16:59

Am going to have an egg now.

Earlywalker · 26/01/2019 17:00

Am I mistaken in thinking a lot of people here sent Posie money for the ‘woman’ poster?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 26/01/2019 17:00

Oh, look! A transwoman telling women what to think. How novel.

lisamuggeridge · 26/01/2019 17:00

Are we burning all the witches at the stake or not btw?

nauticant · 26/01/2019 17:02

I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make here

It's simple. You assign black to one, white to the other, and then you have to see them as absolute opposites in all respects.

To say otherwise is heresy.

sackrifice · 26/01/2019 17:02

Am I mistaken in thinking a lot of people here sent Posie money for the ‘woman’ poster?

What has it got to do with you how women spend their money?
