jeanhatchet.blogspot.com/2019/01/why-i-wont-be-standing-up-for-women.html

This blog post from Jean is eye-opening. Working alongside anti-abortion, hard right groups undermines decades of feminism.

Shame on Posie. I agree with Jean, I will also be sitting down for women.

If there’s any conspiracy to discredit R0wantrees, I’m certainly not privy to it. I think it was bad manners of her to screenshot a post without prior permission. I disagree that JJJ’s post was accusatory, but fair enough if you disagree. And no it hasn’t been dealt with as R0wantrees never replied. I brought it up again because I’ve been away from the board and come back to find a lot of posts about the word ‘welcoming’. I was explaining the context. I understand the paranoia, but it’s blinkered to think it must be TRAs at play, rather then accepting that a few different women independently have issues with a regular’s tone.

That’s all I have to say on that, other than this has made me determined to post more in this section and lurk less.

hagiography

Ah you mean we're breaking the myth of some guys that we're not madonnas nor their mums?

Go figgure..

R0wantrees · 27/01/2019 20:37

Remember her user name was on a list of bad people tweeted to Mumsnet. So probs has something to do with it. Bullying is often used to silence women

It was with regards this thread started Sunday 20th January which was noticebly targetted:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3484133-Gamer-raises-100-000-and-rising-for-trans-charity-Mermaids-by-playing-Donkey-Kong-non-stop

this was my 'contentious post':

"It is quite something to see the numbers of male people posting whatthey seem to think is a 'gotcha' to Graham Linehan with gifs of gorillas jumping about.

Kiwi Farms talk about 'chimping out'

see Steve Peters, 'The Chimp Paradox' which has been used effectively by many sports teams.
Twitter demonstrates how many people (especially males) who need to learn to manage their chimp and be more human:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0TkV34ynzE

Its an excellent video in my opinion by Sir Chris Hoy as the Olympic cycling team was one of the many elite sports teams who have worked with professor Steve Peters. It was a shame that the screen grab of my comment missed the link as the Chimp Paradox model is aimed at helping people manage their emotional reactions which when unrecognised or unmanaged can be to the detriment of people's interactions with others and their potential.

It has been noticeable how many MN members with user names that I don't recognise seem to have taken exception to my posts in the last week. Often for somewhat spurious reasons.

They are of course welcome to challenge what I say just as I am able to respond within the guideines of civilised discussion. False accusations about my integrity and motivations likely say more about them than me.

My primary concerns are for Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, women's rights and fair process.

I recognise there is a great deal of misinformation and so mostly post what may be useful articles or what I believe may be relevent information. I always try to link to source as I think it important that people are able to check for themselves.

I have linked to Jean Hatchet's speeches and statements on this thread because these are her words and her work.

Jean has said today that she won't be silenced by bullies and neither will I.

Well thats good to hear

Even if i dont agree with the rest necessarily Smile

FloralBunting · 27/01/2019 20:46

I'm quite sure R0 is a big enough to girl to stick up for herself. And yes, you may have a beef with her and bring it up and she's free to be as personally accommodating as she pleases in response.

But there are people deliberately targeting her and others, and I'm afraid that if you feel the need to specify what you think are her faults then you're going to have to accept that some prickliness might be the response.

That's unfortunate, of course, but it's not really the fault of anyone but the nasty AWA sods who come to bait.

RepealTheGRA · 27/01/2019 20:47

Did Haddock just libel Mumsnet? Do you think they’re consulting lawyers or just laughing about the fact he’s a gigantic twat?

womanformallyknownaswoman · 27/01/2019 20:48

Remember her user name was on a list of bad people tweeted to Mumsnet. So probs has something to do with it. Bullying is often used to silence women

Your turn in the stocks, unfortunately, RO
Those Tweets linked to are notable for their DARVO - crying wolf, (stalking/harassment/suicide) and yet somehow lacking self-reflection in their own behaviour

Floisme · 27/01/2019 20:53

I noticed the exchanges with R0wan too. There was one particular poster - and I can't remember who it was - who spoke to her as if she was a Mumsnet employee who wasn't doing a good enough job of keeping records, rather than a poster with her own opinions. I accept it may have been a coincidence and we all get heated sometimes and even me Wink

R0wantrees · 27/01/2019 20:58

Its worth being aware that Jean Hatchet protected her twitter account for a temporary period, which she and others have to do from time to time when they are being targetted.

Her twitter account is no longer protected.

R0wantrees · 27/01/2019 21:04

Those Tweets linked to are notable for their DARVO

Being on this board for the last year has taught me so much and I am very grateful to the incredibly wise and generous women who have posted here.

One of the most important lessons I learned was to recognise and understand DARVO as a method of control.

Deny
Attack
Reverse Victim and Offender

It has been eye-opening to see if so frequently used on social media including this board as well as in everyday life.

See also the dynamics of coervice control and narcissitic pattern abuse:

R0wantrees · 27/01/2019 21:10

who spoke to her as if she was a Mumsnet employee who wasn't doing a good enough job of keeping records, rather than a poster with her own opinions

To correct any possible misapprehansions I don't keep records or have a spreadsheet. I do though read a lot to try to understand better and if I think something I have read may be of interest and is relevent or pertinent to the discussion then I share it.

DubBeGoodToMe · 27/01/2019 21:20

FloralBunting fair enough. Anyone who thinks I’m a new poster or I have a TRA agenda is welcome to check with MNHQ, who will tell you I’ve been a long-standing poster and have posted on these boards before and had a mini run-in of sorts with a TRA re MN myself.

And Rufus thank you Grin

FloralBunting · 27/01/2019 21:23

DubBeGoodToMe, I don't think you are a TRA/AWA, I was just pointing out the regrettable situation that has been their making, whereby the women here are more liable to be defensive than not, as I'm sure you understand.

Leeds Live article: 'This is why a radical feminist group campaigned in Leeds city centre today'

(extract)
A small group of radical feminists rallied in Leeds city centre today against what they perceive to be the 'erosion of women's rights'.

Leeds ReSisters tied t-shirts emblazoned with the Google definition of the word 'woman' to statues around the city and then held up flags while they campaigned outside Leeds Art Gallery on The Headrow.

Some of the t-shirts were removed by people who found the protest to be disrespectful, with similar campaigns in recent months drawing criticism from LGBT+ groups who the movement is designed to make transgender people 'feel unsafe'.

The group's organiser, Jennifer, said that the Leeds protest was one of a number taking place simultaneously in cities across the country.

T-shirts bearing the Google definition of the word 'woman' were tied to statues in Leeds, although some were taken down by people who found them offensive

She said: "Women are oppressed due to our sex, and recently the feelings of gender-dysphoric men have taken precedence over the safety of women.

"Male-bodied people should not be able to access these safe spaces because they think long hair and lipstick constitutes a woman.

"Performances of femininity don't make a woman and identity politics is threatening the existing, hard fought for rights of women." (continues)

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 27/01/2019 21:32

And i agree that posters are targeted on here and that causes righteous defensiveness

DubBeGoodToMe · 27/01/2019 21:33

I’ve just caught up with posts I haven’t seen and I need to challenge this by @ihuntmonsters

It's a bit bloody stupid to accuse someone of evading a question that they answered in the very post you are quoting

I didn’t do that. The question of did you have Jean Hatchet’s prior permission was evaded- you’re joining up the dots wrongly; that quote was first responding to a different statement, or else it was false. I know that JH wasn’t asked for permission because she told me so.

I try to be sure of my facts before inferring something, and I suggest you do too.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 27/01/2019 22:31

I love the Hilda Ogden masks and costume of the Leeds Resisters - great look

here's the revised link.

And the DARVO at play in t-shirts and banners tied around statues making some feel unsafe - right oh

Katispancuddly · 27/01/2019 23:04

ROwan
Thank you for always backing up statements with screenshots, and links. It's really helpful.

Jeanhatchet · 28/01/2019 10:27

Just so you know. I deleted my Twitter.

Let this be a lesson to me eh? Don't challenge powerful women.

Oxytocindeficient · 28/01/2019 10:29

Why Jean? I’m not on Twitter, but I’d be sad to see you leave because of what other people said.

Oxytocindeficient · 28/01/2019 10:31

I don’t know what happened... but generally speaking, I think everyone has the right to share their opinion. Jean. Posie. Anyone else. So, if you call out someone and criticise them, it’s likely others might criticise you too. As long as there are no threats, it should be somewhat expected that people respond to others words.

Jeanhatchet · 28/01/2019 10:46

I may reactivate later and stick to just posting my rides for murdered women - because I cannot abandon them. I want to remember their names and their stories. It matters to me more than anything else.

But please leave me out of any more on this front regarding Posie Parker. I'm tired.

I said my piece. I stand by it. But the relentless attacks are too much.
