The closing statement was an insult coming from someone who thought their behaviour on social media was appropriate Angry

Beerflavourednipples · 22/01/2019 12:01

The minimising of David Challenors crimes is so sinister.

'Annoyed' with him?

Fucking annoyed?

Badstyley · 22/01/2019 12:25

Why have the BBC had AC on? The story barely made the papers, and the BBC really dragged their feet about covering DC’s crimes on their web sight, so why the need to have AC on national radio giving it poor me about what they initially treated as a non story? All feels very sinister to me.

SandyDrawsBadly · 22/01/2019 12:29

Why is it being given a platform? Why?
Jesus wept, radio 5 Live.
Then again, the BBC helping to excuse those with links to child abusers, who’d’ve thunk it.

nauticant · 22/01/2019 12:37

It's for rehabilitation. To make this the narrative and to make the past disappear because it is extremely inconvenient.

It's so fucked up isn't it. Yes, the BBC were reluctant to even cover this story.

I feel so sorry for the poor victim in all of this who seems to have been totally forgotten as usual.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 22/01/2019 12:44

There was really no need to interview AC.

They should be interviewing the green party and the lib Dems. And perhaps looking to see if any other parties and organisations are open to similar threats.

AC themselves is marketing themselves as some sort of clueless idiot, and the report did say that they are unable to comprehend safeguarding.

The real question is why are organisations promoting unfit people into positions of responsibility.

Threewheeler1 · 22/01/2019 12:46

And at the same time on R4 we had the brilliant Jessica Eaton talking about child abuse and the tendency to victim blame and how this needs to change.

It is bizarrely grim that AC gets a platform anywhere, let alone on national radio, positioning 'themself' as being too fragile to challenge.

Aimee Challenor has had an unusual amount of supportive opportunities provided by the BBC.

I can't get the programme to load.

Was AC asked whether they felt they should remain on the Stonewall trans group which contributes to
Stonewall is now running a series of exciting residential campaigning programmes for young people aged 16 to 25 who are from specific diversity strands under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. Our first programme (which will be facilitated by Stonewall staff who identify as trans)..., in the light of their lack of understanding of safeguarding?

1hello2hello · 22/01/2019 12:54

Bold fail is text from Stonewall website.

R0wantrees · 22/01/2019 12:57

Its worth complaining to BBC 5 Live.

It's odd. I complained about some languaged used on the original BBC article about DC. I never mentioned AC, that wasn't my concern, but the response was all about AC.

I think it has more to do with AC connections with stonewall than anything else. If stonewall are seen to be at fault, it causes big problems with organisations that use stonewall.

Datun · 22/01/2019 13:01

Damage limitation and reinvention.

It won't last. Everything is out there. It will only take one live call to make the entire narrative implode.

I mean seriously, if this is the best that Stonewall and the trans lobby can manage, it says much about the depth of their talent.

Jenny17 · 22/01/2019 13:02

Did you hear the slip of tongue when AC called his dads victim a woman. The girl was 10!

R0wantrees · 22/01/2019 13:03

The strangest one was an interview on Woman's Hour during the summer with (I think) a Mermaids parent and Aimee Challenor who was introduced and questioned as a 'young trans person.'
No mention or acknowledgement of ACs prominant position in Stonewall, The Green Party etc

This is the Coventry Telegraph article at the time. It appears that DC was reported to the police at the end of 2015, when the victim confided in someone else. I have found out that the actual assaults on the young girl were made in 2010. AC contacted the victim via FB in October 2015 when DC was being investigated. They also said that DC attended court with his wife who was in a wheelchair and that he was her carer?

AC says at the point the general election was announced and DC became election agent that their relationship was not close, I think AC described it as an occasional cup of coffee together.

2017 GE was announced on 18 April.

Here is a podcast from 7 March 2017 - 1 month before the election was announced. It's an interview with Aimee and 'Baloo' Challenor in which DC is described as AC's 'campaigns manager' for work both in the Green Party and in Coventry Pride.

soundcloud.com/noxaimora/aimee-baloo-challenor-interview-podcast

This also calls into question Coventry Pride's statement:

The Trustees were made aware of criminal proceedings being taken against Mr Challenor in November 2016. A directive was issued to those responsible for volunteer recruitment that Mr Challenor was not to be accepted as a volunteer at the Charity’s events and if he attended public events organised by the Charity he was monitored by the trustees.

R0wantrees · 22/01/2019 13:43

Pencils Is that the interview when at the end Aimee encourages young people to get in touch with them by facebook, email, twitter etc?

PencilsInSpace · 22/01/2019 13:45

That's the one. And AC says several times that AC believes in transparency and accountability in politics.

PencilsInSpace · 22/01/2019 13:46

I'm astonished the podcast is still up. I have saved a copy.
