Just that really. He is retiring shortly and women's sport will miss someone who championed it.

I have joked to my DP that Andy Murray has brought me more pleasure in life (from watching him play tennis!) than any other man. Think it might be true!

LoisWilkerson1 · 12/01/2019 10:16

Yes I was sad to hear this. He is a fantastic role model and one of our greatest sports people. I hope he finds a second career that he can put his talent and energy in to.

Floisme · 12/01/2019 10:20

Just adding my voice. Watch and learn all you woke, lefty men.
Best of luck, Andy.

AnyFucker · 12/01/2019 10:22

Bloody hell...I'm off again

LangCleg · 12/01/2019 10:36

Andy Murray: the anti-Woke Bro, beloved of FWR.

ZigZagZombie · 12/01/2019 11:50

I'm quite often in Tesco in Dunblane. As a single mother of 2 rowdy boys I fantasise I'll feel a tap on the shoulder and Judy will lean in and say "it gets better".

andyoldlabour · 12/01/2019 12:27

Andy Murray, our best ever tennis player and a great human being.

MrsTerryPratcett · 12/01/2019 13:58

That's an understatement in her case Zig!

Bowchicawowow · 12/01/2019 14:00

Every time I see the clip of him correcting the journalist with the comeback ‘male player’ I feel like punching the air with delight.

LoisWilkerson1 · 12/01/2019 16:51

I love his deadpan delivery too. You can tell he's inwardly eye rolling at the insipid crap the media say to him. His refusal to play ball with the media is another thing I like about him especially when they kept pushing about the Dunblane shooting.

Morgan · 12/01/2019 17:07

Another Andy fan here - lovely to find some more as often I’m in the minority . Quite a lot of tears yesterday for him and can’t believe I won’t be shouting at the TV supporting him again .

BagelGoesWalking · 12/01/2019 17:14

Agree with all the comments. The fact that he has pain even doing up his shoes now, really upset me. He's talking about another operation just to improve his quality of life, so it must be absolutely awful. Be must have been, and still is, in a hell of a lot of pain.

There have been some lovely messages from fellow players, particularly Del Potro who had such a long convalesence from his injuries.

The Tennis podcast presenters were really choked up I love The Tennis Podcast | Andy Murray Announces Impending Retirement - Catherine and David react from Melbourne, let's play it!

It’s good to know he has as much time for John Inverdale as I do.

Morgan, it's good isn't it Smile

The messages from his peers as well as the public - well the majority anyway - are lovely

I feel so privileged to have seen him play.

LangCleg · 14/01/2019 12:08

Well, that's me ruined for the day.

I am besnotted.

AmIthatbloodycold · 14/01/2019 13:41

What a way to go, though.

Sexnotgender · 14/01/2019 16:40

Great match today, had a tear in my eye watching it.
