Munroe Is at it again claiming womanhood is whatever you say it is Hmm.

The replies are all in favour of them being utterly ridiculous.

The comments are great.

This person comes across as a total bell end.

calpop · 06/01/2019 08:52

I think this trans person give themselves away with "isn't your breasts or the size of them".

Katvonbatshit · 06/01/2019 09:08

Munroe is such a goady dick.

And I find it really worrying that some adults think it acceptable to talk to other people's children in private messages. Fuck sake. Safeguarding!

Womanhood is what you say it is and who you say you are.

Munroe hasn't redefined womanhood, Munroe seems to want to undefine the word.
If Munroe doesn't understand what 'womanhood' means, perhaps leave it to women, hmm?

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 09:17

Yes, Errol it's completely regressive and utterly ludicrous - at least the replies seem positive for GC side.

Munroe is a misogynist of the highest order.

I reckon we need to start redefining manhood. What's sauce for the goose etc.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 10:14

If womanhood is whatever you say it is then it is a meaningless word as is manhood because I'm assuming that is also whatever you say it is, therefore anyone can be either - how do we differentiate between man and woman then and how do they 'know' they are women?

I don't understand how they can possibly get away with this utter drivel and be supported - it's nonsense, clearly.

I am all for breaking gender stereotypes and the patriarchy - if men want to present in societies typical female way then go ahead but this has reached a point where people are going 'hang on just a minute' there are clearly obvious ways of telling who male and female.

I dont think it will work

Men know that it doesnt matter if the word is taken away from them...makes no difference to who holds the power, they wont be knocked off their number one in the hierarchy and most men will just ignore it...completely!

Womyn know that it will matter if its taken away from them

VickyEadie · 06/01/2019 10:33

A person who has undertaken a range of surgeries to make themselves look as much like a (stereotype of) woman as possible, wears (stereotypical) women's clothes, uses lots of make-up - all in a concerted attempt to make themselves look as much like their own vision of 'woman' as possible: is saying here that it isn't about any of those things, nor is it about biology.

Yeah...scratching my head here.

terryleather · 06/01/2019 10:55

Once again tedious goady narc is a tedious goady narc.

Reality will still be reality no matter what ridiculous pronouncements MB farts out on Twitter and the reality is that you can't change sex and woman is an adult human female.
The end.

Datun · 06/01/2019 11:01

What on earth is Munroe thinking calling minors honey and telling them to message privately???

Saying the same thing over and over again doesn't make it true

Knicknackpaddyflak · 06/01/2019 11:40

I used to read this batshittery and starting thinking (or saying here) yes, but, and logically dissect it, and debate it - I suppose back then I still had some lingering belief that these were rational people who somewhere, somehow, had a point, and negotiation and explanation would get us somewhere.

After much bitter experience, my response now when I read something like this (or from LM who excels at this) is to think this person is deranged and has come out with something else deranged, on purpose to get a good reaction, and look sadly at the sheer number of people running around rewarding it by still trying to engage with utter batshittery as if there's something there worth arguing with.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 11:41

Yes KnickKnack!! I swear (hoping) Munroe and LM are just massive trolls who will come out eventually and say 'haha only joking'.

OP posts:
terryleather · 06/01/2019 11:53

Agreed KnickKnack - I couldn't understand how they could get it all so wrong and would get radge at their lack of logic and grasp of reality.

No point. It's a faith based position and I don't think you can reason people out of it.

I admire those who lay out the arguments for the lurkers though - all of you have the patience of a saint!

Knicknackpaddyflak · 06/01/2019 11:56

Ever read Chump Lady's blog, Hey ?

It's an interesting parallel. She talks about the behaviour of men having midlife crises with so many of them having a very similar script. Two phrases of hers that I think of a lot is 'untangling the skein' where a woman uses up a huge amount of mental energy and headspace trying to figure out the tortured, impenetrable mystery of why he does the things he does and that there must be a reason and meaning to it in there somewhere. Instead of realising it's a) purely because it gets attention and headspace and validates fantasies about being some complex and b) a case of wtf is she bothering?

And 'cake' - the attention and feelz cookies that reward an action and the mess it creates.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 06/01/2019 11:58

being some complex = being SO complex. Ruddy autocorrect.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 12:05

No I haven't knickKnack but I'll take a look later on. I've been going down the rabbit hole for about a year now and everyday I'm startled into thinking 'how the fuck have we got here?'.

I am a liberal leftie, I should be supporting this in theory but it's too stupid to take seriously, yet some of my friends think I'm being unkind Confused and should just let them get on with it.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 06/01/2019 13:20

Why? Being a 'liberal leftie' isn't automatically synonymous with denying objective reality, is it? Being a 'liberal leftie' doesn't necessarily mean you have to rate males like Munroe above women in the 'relative oppression' stakes.

terryleather · 06/01/2019 13:38

For many, of all political persuasions, there are no shades of grey but I would say that the The left in particular is guilty of having all who regard themselves to be of the left engage in right think on all subject and will be extremely quick to denounce anyone from their own side who doesn't do so.

The mess we currently find ourselves in illustrates this constantly, hence how we can have activists from the left who have campaigned for social justice and equality all their lives be denounced as fascists/terfs/worse than Nazis and the KKK /insert-current-beyond-the-pale-insult-here because they dare to even question the genderist position let alone call it out for the utter bs that it is.

One would think that denying objective reality would be an obviously ridiculous position for anyone to take but it would appear not....

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 13:44

Errol, I think it's because I'm against any kind of injustice and I had previously thought of trans women as ones with gender dysphoria and seeing a person I knew vaguely go through this, was awful. I didn't realise the extent of the issue - that's how most of my leftie friends see it- until I tell them the reality.

I hate the thought of people with genuine dysphoria and the only way to live with it is to transition to suffer such hostility but it has become a wider issue impacting on women and girls. It doesn't just include them anymore and it is hard to see the TRAs throw them under the bus.
