Munroe Is at it again claiming womanhood is whatever you say it is Hmm.

The replies are all in favour of them being utterly ridiculous.

Womanhood isn't your breasts or the size of them. It isn't your vagina or womb or whether you can bear children. It isn't your menstural cycle. It isn't the dress or the jeans you may chose to wear. It isn't the pitch of your voice and it isn't your taste in music or movies.

I guess it must be the facial feminization surgery then.

KindOfAGeek · 06/01/2019 14:53

Redefining "woman" is not a hate crime, per twitter.

Redefining "transwoman" is, per twitter.

If you want to know where the power is, look at who you are not allowed to criticize.

Notevenmyrealname · 06/01/2019 15:02

The comments are great.
I just gave birth a few days ago and consequently am very in touch with my womanhood at the moment. In fact, every time I sit down. Maybe I should send a message to Munroe.

Congratulations!

Is it hopeful thinking or has the tide rather firmly turned, at least in terms of the general public's willingness to tolerate this nonsense?

(Unfortunately the political class is as usual significantly behind public opinion.)

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 18:04

Someone should have responded to the tweet Failing posted with "women" with penises are delusional.

KindOfAGeek · 06/01/2019 18:22

Is it hopeful thinking or has the tide rather firmly turned, at least in terms of the general public's willingness to tolerate this nonsense?

The sentiment seems to have shifted, but that could also just be the Internet's tendency toward anarchy.

Or maybe it's just becoming clear this isn't just a matter of playing nice with others.

I understand something of how hashtivists link up and support each other in the imposition of "social justice", and why the War Against WrongThink has been semi-successful on twitter. I don't know why they don't know trying to impose a system of thought on people with real lives will just piss people off.

Babdoc · 06/01/2019 18:29

I definitely think the tide has turned, Angry. More people are now aware of the nonsense being spouted, and more are openly criticising it.
Whenever I look at the comments following trans pronouncements, whether it’s on Twitter or in a newspaper, I see that the vast majority are anti.
The delusions are pointed out, the definitions questioned, the safety of girls and women mentioned. There is a healthy dose of feminist scorn against the mansplaining of transpeople trying to appropriate and define women.
More people are quoting specific cases and evidence, such as the rapist “Karen” White and the male bodied trans cyclist who entered a women’s race to compete unfairly.
I doubt anybody outside the woke trendies ever supported this fiasco, but now the silent majority of sensible citizens are waking up to what is going on and are making their views known.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 06/01/2019 19:29

Speaking of definitions, UN women defined feminism for us

UN Women
@UN_Women
Feminist = a person who believes in & stands up for the political, economic, and social equality of human beings.

TheVoiceOfRaisin · 06/01/2019 19:51

I reckon we need to start redefining manhood. What's sauce for the goose etc.

Isn't that already covered by the destroying of toxic masculinity?

We've already seen the advent of the 'new man' in the past few decades and all that's seemingly done is create a load of woke bros.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 19:57

The responses really are almost unanimous in their rejection of Bergdorf's waffly pomo nonsense. Must come as a bit of a shock to someone used to fawning admiration.

Bloody hell, even the UN....

It's staggering how overwhelmingly threatening it is to the male species that even while humanism and egalitarianism and vegetarianism and many, many other political and social choices are free for people to make (often belonging to multiple groups) the mere existence of there being a focus on women by women is so threatening that apparently even the UN believes it must be redefined right away from women and it made taboo to even suggest anything should ever centre women. Naughty women actually trying to discuss or address their own interests!

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 20:06

Well, think of what might happen if any kind of real female solidarity was ever achieved. Realistically it actually is the biggest threat to the way most societies have worked for the last few thousand years that there is.

Interesting to look at these tweets alongside ones like '"You're a paedophile. I don't trust you around kids" is the equivalent of saying "You're a straight male. I don't trust you around females"'

A similar disdain for fact-based evidence.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 06/01/2019 20:29

I’m never sure with twitter threads how to gauge the ratios of buying tra ideas:rejecting them as being on blocklists means I have no idea about how many “pro” comments I’m missing!

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 20:33

I'm not on any block lists and I can see everything - overwhelming positive for GC arguments!!

OP posts:
OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 06/01/2019 20:34

That is good to hear!

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 06/01/2019 20:38

I think people are really pissed off at the whole TRA movement- they are getting ridiculous in their requests and beliefs and it is making the public turn against them.

OP posts:
BlindYeo · 06/01/2019 20:52

Really hope so Hey About time these monumental gaslighters got their arses handed to them on plates.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 20:54

I'm not logged in so no blocklists would apply, and it's overwhelmingly anti TRA talking points in the responses.

Voice0fReason · 06/01/2019 22:44

It's delusional and insulting.
Womanhood means something and it doesn't involve a penis.

GollyGoshGreat · 06/01/2019 23:33

Look who chipped in...

Redefining womanhood
KindOfAGeek · 06/01/2019 23:47

Feminist = a person who believes in & stands up for the political, economic, and social equality of human beings.

Actually, that's the definition of a humanist, not a feminist, but I guess working for women's rights doesn't mean anything unless men get something too, right?
