Any wishes for the next year?

That science makes a comeback.

Yes, yes to both of those. I've loved this board this year. Learnt so much, laughed out loud, sworn in frustration. Here's to another year of not being nice and kind but being honest, curious, engaged and educated.

Thanks to all of you for being so bloody fabulous and generally being a haven of sanity in this whole debate.

New Year's wishes? Well, just that the gender recognition bill bites the dust, that more MPs and public figures speak out and that no one is treated as being beyond the pale for believing that men can't be women.

I've learnt so much here over the last year. Thank you to you all for that. I hope that in 2019 more high profile people are able to speak out and that this conversation becomes more mainstream.

New Year's wishes? Well, just that the gender recognition bill bites the dust, that more MPs and public figures speak out and that no one is treated as being beyond the pale for believing that men can't be women.

I'll drink to that. Plus an end to drugs, sterilisation & mutilation for gender nonconforming children & young people.

I'm hoping for a massive epiphany whereby male violence against women is deplored, culture wide, and everything, from news headlines to jokes, reflect this.

I suspect I shall be disappointed, so while I still hold to that for the long term, for this year I shall hold out for an increased confidence among women to stand together, whatever our starting points, and the voices of more well known women being heard as gender critical. No disrespect to our male allies, but Martina's late 2018 showing made my year.

My wish is that every one reverses everything and guides top shop etc All go back to single sex environments and the jelly babies get laughed out the next room they enter.

Can I thank you all for peak transing me this year and for continuing to keep me company. I've tried and failed to peak trans my DH and if it wasn't for you lot I'd feel quite isolated as I have no GC friends in RL.

Thanks to you all for keeping me sane and able to maintain a good relationship with my woke teens, while holding fast to my own beliefs. I don't know what I would have done without this place. Thanks to MNHQ for steering a course through many a shitstorm this year. I truly believe they are helping to shape a better future for women by hosting this board.

I also think the tide is turning and significant progress has been made this year. My wish for 2019 is more of the same - common sense driving back the dystopian madness and people having the courage to call it out.

Here's to 2019 and more inroads into this madness.

Thank you to the wonderful, knowledgeable people on FWR who have opened my eyes to so many things and given me the courage to speak to people IRL about it.

But having had my eyes opened is something of a mixed blessing and I carry a weight on my shoulders that was not there at the start of 2018. That said I'm hopeful that the load will get lighter in 2019. Onwards and upwards!

It’s been such an uncomfortable year on here for me, having to think really hard about prejudices, viewpoints and values. But I’ve enjoyed the challenge and have begun to be brave enough to have gc discussions in real life. Thanks you all for empowering and informing me and my feminism.
